"Large Fail Rate" - Yes, the screen on my Galaxy S is broken slightly on the left side. There are lines going down the side of it, it doesn't bother me though as you cant really see it...
I think you'd enjoy our video about an augmented reality video game app! Check it out on our channel, it's called MODROIDS! It's shot using the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant!!
OK...im confused now. Ive seen videos where ppl are callin this phone the "Vibrant" nd some where they call it the "Galaxy S". Then they proceed to say something abt 1 is in Canada nd the other is in the U.S.... exactly which 1 is in the U.S?????
@diamondpeach2 .. As I say, this is the TMOUS - T-Mobile U.S. version.
Bell in Canada has the Vibrant also, but it is the internation i9000 version, which means it looks different than the T-Mobile Vibrant.
All these phones "inside" and the display, are the "Samsung Galaxy S." But a carrier can specify what it wants in terms of a case, buttons, switches, LED flash, front facing camera, etc.
sorry, but does leaving a live wallpaper on make the battery run out that much faster? i had one on there a few days ago and changed it to a regular one, but i want to run one. any suggestions and do u know what much battery it may use even if i kill the other apps whenever i use the phone.
@shantelkt ...you should set the display to minimum brightness. No need to use it on full bright unless outside. That will save a lot of battery power.
Also turn off bluetooth, wifi, gps, unless being used.
I get about 18 hours battery life, which is good for a smartphone.
my battery dies, pretty fast. is this happening to you? as soon as i use a few apps, the percentage of the battery goes down rapidly. i have the screen on the lowest brightness and i have a task killer, yet the battery deteriates rapidly...
@shantelkt ... I'd call the carrier tech support and have them look at the issue. Once in a great while one might get a bad battery.
Generally all smartphones get horrible battery life. On every phone you can find people complaining about battery life. Just the way it goes.
On my Vibrant if I keep the display on min brightness and don't run much of anything, I get 12-18 hours before I need to charge it. If I run BT, WiFi, the Net and set it on max brightness I might get 8 hours.
just got this phone yesterday its wonderful but the battery .... how is the battery for everyone else? and the cam looks amazing flasg or not its wonderful i never heard of this phone till yesterday and my dad got it for me :] its better then his mytouch slide ha
@moofassa22 ... My dad has a prepaid T-Mobile phone. I took his SIM out of his clamshell phone and put it into my HD2. The phone worked fine, made phone calls only, of course.
So I would say yes to your question, based on my test. You should call T-Mobile to be sure. They have a prepaid customer service selection when you call and input which dept. you want. Or you can call the number posted on the prepaid SIM.
This phone also has FlipFont on it that allows you to change the phones system font. If you don't like the ones that come with the phone you can buy more. I have this app on my Nokia E71 and I really like the way changing the font customizes the phone. Now I just have to wait for ATT to get the Galaxy S(aka Captivate, Vibrant,etc....) Check out FlipFont I think you will like it.
@tubbychaser456 ... yes it does. And T-Mobile is the only carrier who does not charge you extra for it, for now. The other carriers allow tethering, but they assess a monthly charge for the service.
Love the videos, especially the extra comments you put HeartinSanFrancisco. Made me realize this phones potential. I am anxiously awaiting the release of the phone!
@mourningstar01 ...Actually I have both the HD2 and Slide. Both are fantastic phones. And the Slide is the smartphone world' best kept secret, because it's a really great phone, but not a lot of people know that.
Get the SGS if you want a "fun" phone. E.g., if trying out and using free apps is your thing, you can't beat Android Market.
But if you want a true mini-computer, then go with the HD2. The HD2 and WinMo is a more business oriented phone than any Android-based handset.
@kcolin6701 ... Well I don't have the N1 to compare it with, but compared to my G1, HD2 and BlackBerry, the Slide is very fast. It's a great phone.
I have been playing my Comcast cable TV on it, using Slingbox and the commands on the screen are fast and smooth. (E.g., when changing the channels, etc.)
The Slide is made by HTC and it just came out. So it reflects HTC quality and performance, basically what you would expect from HTC, whom I consider the hottest handset maker on the planet.
@mourningstar01 ... I would go with an Android-Based phone. It's far better in terms of having fun with apps, etc.
The HD2 is simply too limited when it comes to playing with a phone. Once you have used Android Market to download and install free apps, it's pretty depressing to go to WinMo and use Microsoft's Marketplace.
But the HD2 does do multi-media functions well. Playing a movie on the HD2's screen is great. And surfing the Net is fantastic too because of the HD2's 4.3" display.
yes, free upgrade to 2.2 is being marketed pretty heavily along with this phone, i can only assume that a mention of 3.0 for free, sometime down the road, would have been mentioned along with this mention of froyo. imo
why do they took out the front camera?? that's sucks... Samsung Galaxy S have the front camera but not the Samsung Vibrant...how stupid is that? I was looking forward to get this front but since they took out the front camera i think i'll go with the iphone 4
is it really THAT important to have a FFC? I highly doubt you will be using that often enough to make a carrier decison based opon it. maybe if your girlfriend or wife lives far away or travels a lot. maybe...
If you're experience with the Galaxy was fast and lag free, imagine the benefits of Android 2.2 with the supercharged browser, & JIT built into the OS.

@HeartInSanFrancisco well look at it this way, the nexus one took better pics than the droid incredible... and the people said that the galaxy is better than the nexus one so............

I'm deciding between the Nexus One and the Samsung Vibrant. Please help me decide which one.
RichVallejo 1 year ago
@RichVallejo ... Arguably since this is a newer phone than the N1, you are getting the latest features.
But it does not matter what I think. You have to consider what's important to YOU and buy based on those factors.
E.g., I like the Vibrant's display and overall form factor. To me a 4" SAMOLED display is better than the N1's.
It's also lighter because of the SAMOLED display. So the phone's light weight is a "feature" to me while to others they could care less about that.
