In reference to the Millennium Falcon issue, that ship is a lightweight converted freighter that's built to hold less than a dozen people at a time. The Enterprise is a starship with a full whole lotta people. Of course the Enterprise would win in a fight, but it couldn't hold a candle to a Star Destroyer, or even a Dreadnaught. However, when it comes to a race, the Falcon would smoke the Enterprise.

If there is a planet nearby, one cannot fly through hyperspace. The Kessel Run is MUCH LONGER than 12 parsecs. It's full of planetary gravity wells. The Falcon only had to fly in "normal space" for a total distance of 12 parsecs. The boast Han made has to do with the speed and accuracy of his many different HYPERSPACE TRAJECTORIES throughout the maze of planets that is Kessel! All other vessels have to fly longer in real space because they cannot navigate as well as the Falcon can in hyperspace.

Other vessels have to travel more parsecs in real space than the Falcon because they spend less time in hyperspace, therefore, take longer to make the run. The Falcon makes the Kessel run faster because everyone else has to drop out of hyperspace and travel normally more often! A parsec is a unit of measurement. Han's boast is that he calculated a faster route through the Kessel maze than everyone else.

PLUS in the book Lucas himself wrote, he didnt even use the word parsec he used "standard time parts" which proves he was atempting to use the word parsec in the movie as a measurement of time. stop trying to justify Lucas's fuckups and deal with the fact that the guy made mistakes

Han Solo and Lando Calrissian figured a different, faster route through the maze using longer hyperspace lanes between the gravity wells, thereby cutting the actual distance traveled. I think the fucked up part of this is that I had to watch the movie again and missed out on getting laid last night. I'm such a noob, it's unreal.

Star Trek is WAY superior than Star Wars. Star Wars used lasers that wouldn't even go though the navigation shields of a Federation star ship. And btw guys, a parsec is a legit unit of measure. It's used for interstellar space. It's approx 3.26 light-years and is equal to the distance to any object that has a parallax of one second as viewed from points that are separated by one astronomical unit. Go figure...I'm just saying...
