oh and the amount of time the curl stays will be increased by the amount of time you hold the curling iron in- then turn your head over and shake it so that the curls lose that fake perfect look.

ill admit it happens to look great- but the reason your curls didnt last all day the other way is bec even curling the traditional way you are supposed to start from the root. and most ppl curl away from the face not toward it- yes the hair in the back does meet at two facing directions.

I love this! I've done this before to get closer to the top of my hair (like you said, frustrated with the curl being halfway down) but I never quite got the separate part down (upside down is brilliant!), and your specific curl tecniques seemed much easier because I would always get tangled trying to maneuver the hair around the iron but I'll keep this in mind! I have a technique where I turn the curling iron upside down and don't use the clamp at all. just use your fingers and twirl a section of hair around the barrel of the iron, and hold it there for a few seconds. the curl isn't flattened by the clamp and looks much more natural. hard to explain in a comment, but works really well!

another way you could do it if you get really bad split ends is some french braids on both sides of your head. My mom and ALL my aunts have really obvious split ends from using curling irons every single day! and braiding your hair gives you a "beach wave" look. I have my hair up like that right now! lol! but i love your method, if you are one of those people like me who dont split that easily, that is a good look, amy!

@DucksHaveHats maybe it's your curling iron, i hav curling iron that i use and i usually wait long damn time for my hair to get that curl, i mean like 1 min for a single curl and i usually finish doing all of it for 1 and a half hour but i tried other curling iron from my friends and it curled my hair fast.
