Domestics are already heavy enough so most racers remove interior shedding 100 lbs just by doing that. Some other domestic racers chopped the frame replacing it with a tube chassis. This really reduces the weight of the front end frame cutting weight by up to 450 lbs Total reduction is 600+ lbs for a 3400 lbs car to start with
I look at specs on a built V8 I compare it to specs built by Outlaw drag racers Their cars can go 7secs in a 1/4 mile [NO ] Force Induction used cranking out 940+HP!

From reading the comments below it looks like theres some confusion as to what model of k20a is in that civic. The DC5 R spec is 225hp at the crank and is the more powerful compared to the RSX domestic version. Even still the R motor will be lucky to do more than 190 whp in stock trim. I believe with intake and exhaust this would easily bring it up over 200whp and tuned 220+ whp.
There are some dumb people on here whp is the power you put to the ground at the crank is that number u see when u guys read car ads a higher number do to drive train loss and this is a complete k swap so those numbers are normal there is some nice power adders in a swap like that to be done right and 1 which is the big difference to me is the kpro

i ran a 94 or so honda civic coupe with a k20 at the treack 2 days ago. it was quicker then i thought. it wasnt stock but it was all motor. it had headers and full exhaust and no ac,power steering or anything like that. his best was 13.3 @106mph. but averaged mid 13s on the mickey drag radials on gsr rims. we ran 3 times he got me the first time but i won 2 out of 3. i was runnin a trailblazer ss all wheel drive with a tune and cold air. i was runnin 13.40s. it was a very cool car till it broke.
@BLACKLACDTS that time seems slow for a k20 coupe, and even for your ss, what altitude or location are you? Ive ran 13.5 with a b16 hatch (94 as well) up here. Trust me the altitude and air can make a difference, your ss would probally be a 12 sec truck up here.

The 5.0 mustang was a mid 14 second car with HORRIBLE stock gearing. Adding new gears to that motor can shave off nearly half a second in the quarter mile. Second, mustangs are not built for two gears. They can put out big numbers and pull well over 150mph. If anything, the civic was built with fuel economy in mind and should stick to it. I do however believe your times, as I've seen a couple d16 civics with cheap ebay turbo's running decent. But nothing special...

If you knew anything about Honda's you would know that the K20 doesnt come stock in an EG so any person with common sense would know it has bolt ons of some type just to get it in the car.
@k20egcw I'll be the first to admit that I know very little about Honda's outside of my lawnmower. Note what I said. Put A BIGGER blower on an 03 cobra motor. It comes from the factory with A blower and the lower end built for it. I highly doubt the stock honda bottom end could withstand 400 + HP. Even though these cars aren't my bag, kuddos to the guy who built it. Just don't hype A modded drag car as "stock". It has FAR more mods than just A header...
@hillbillyjeremy stock Honda blocks can actually hold up to quite a big of HP. With B series I've seen quite a few 500hp setups, and K series its not rare to see a 6-700hp stock block engine. I really dont see this as being a drag car just because its at the track, for all we know he could DD it and just drags on the weekends. As far as mods if hes saying its stock he probably has a intake, header, exhaust, and a tune and maybe an RBC intake manifold (but thats an OEM part)..

ANY motor can hold up for a couple of passes at the strip. But it will fail. And the reason I know this is A drag car is the slicks in the front mean you cant turn for shit. 2000 pounds means it's gutted with just A drivers seat. I'm not 17 anymore, daly driving means having passengers, radio, and the ability to drive in rain. Drag car.
@hillbillyjeremy Depends on what your definitely of a maasive amount of boost is. They can old 25-29psi and still be a reliable dialy driver. My friend has been making mid 500hp on a $300 K24a4 for 3 years on 23psi while another has been making 618 @ 28psi for about 7 months now on a K20a2 with no problems at all, both bone stock internals. The stock compression on a most of K20's (K20a2, z3, z3) is 11.1, and they K24's range from 9:6 - 10.5:1.

I don't doubt that he swapped drag slicks at the track. my point is this car is A dedicated drag car. Look up the "Hulk" on here, its a stock K20A turbo (11.5:1 cr) and its a DD thats nasty. The suspension maybe setup for drag, but that doesnt mean shit really. My suspension is setup for straight drag too but mine is a DD with full interior, so suspension doesnt make it a full out drag car. Prove to me that the motor is modded and ill start to believe you

With a good tune, bolt ons (intake, header, exhaust) these cars put down good times all day long. My car is a "drag car" as you'd call it as well, but I drive it on the street everday because when/if I were to race on the street its going to be a drag race. Im done trying to prove my point cause it seems like your head is to thick to see that Hondas are quick.

Just because hes not running street tires doesnt mean its not a streetable car, its not hard to unbolt your old wheels are put on some slicks to help at the track. This car on street tires would have spun 1/8 mile, so its pointless to run without slicks with a K swap. These cars also weigh 2050- 2250 depending on the chassis stock, so it could be street trim still.
This engine rates about 200+ at FLYWHEEL never gets 235 at wheels stock just tuned with exhaust. Just for fun hybrids k series engines done about 250-270 whp modded all motor. No way RRRRRRIIIIIPP

I dont care what any1 says. This car and its performance is more then respectable, theres ppl out there with engines with internal mods and or power adders not runnin these times. Plus this is like a $7k set-up if that and thats with a swap with like 35k miles on it and a nice shell, lower your standerds and it could probably be built for around $4k

The 5.0 mustang was a mid 14 second car with HORRIBLE stock gearing. Adding new gears to that motor can shave off nearly half a second in the quarter mile. Second, mustangs are not built for two gears. They can put out big numbers and pull well over 150mph. If anything, the civic was built with fuel economy in mind and should stick to it. I do however believe your times, as I've seen a couple d16 civics with cheap ebay turbo's running decent. But nothing special...

Hell, I could drop an 03 cobra motor into an old notchback and put on A bigger blower and say "it's stock, with A couple of bolt-ons". @hillbillyjeremy It has bolt ons cause the header is a MUST to be able to put these into this chassis. Sure you could do that and blower this blah blah blah, he could also slap a turbo on this STOCK engine and have 6-700hp and still drive it home. This is an internally stock K20Z3 in a EG hatch. If you knew anything about Honda's you would know that the K20 doesnt come stock in an EG so any person with common sense would know it has bolt ons of some type just to get it in the car.

@k20egcw I'll be the first to admit that I know very little about Honda's outside of my lawnmower. Note what I said. Put A BIGGER blower on an 03 cobra motor. It comes from the factory with A blower and the lower end built for it. I highly doubt the stock honda bottom end could withstand 400 + HP. Even though these cars aren't my bag, kuddos to the guy who built it. Just don't hype A modded drag car as "stock". It has FAR more mods than just A header...

@hillbillyjeremy stock Honda blocks can actually hold up to quite a big of HP. With B series I've seen quite a few 500hp setups, and K series its not rare to see a 6-700hp stock block engine. I really dont see this as being a drag car just because its at the track, for all we know he could DD it and just drags on the weekends. As far as mods if hes saying its stock he probably has a intake, header, exhaust, and a tune and maybe an RBC intake manifold (but thats an OEM part)..

ANY motor can hold up for a couple of passes at the strip. But it will fail. And the reason I know this is A drag car is the slicks in the front mean you cant turn for shit. 2000 pounds means it's gutted with just A drivers seat. I'm not 17 anymore, daly driving means having passengers, radio, and the ability to drive in rain. Drag car.

@hillbillyjeremy Depends on what your definitely of a maasive amount of boost is. They can old 25-29psi and still be a reliable dialy driver. My friend has been making mid 500hp on a $300 K24a4 for 3 years on 23psi while another has been making 618 @ 28psi for about 7 months now on a K20a2 with no problems at all, both bone stock internals. The stock compression on a most of K20's (K20a2, z3, z3) is 11.1, and they K24's range from 9:6 - 10.5:1.

I don't doubt that he swapped drag slicks at the track. my point is this car is A dedicated drag car. The suspension is set to keep the front planted, it's gutted to save weight, and it's got a modded motor. So it is far from stock, plain and simple...

Look up the "Hulk" on here, its a stock K20A turbo (11.5:1 cr) and its a DD thats nasty. The suspension maybe setup for drag, but that doesnt mean shit really. My suspension is setup for straight drag too but mine is a DD with full interior, so suspension doesnt make it a full out drag car. Prove to me that the motor is modded and ill start to believe you

@hillbillyjeremy K20a.org, go on there and look around. People are running 12.0's some have even broken into the 11's with STOCK K20a2's. With a good tune, bolt ons (intake, header, exhaust) these cars put down good times all day long. My car is a "drag car" as you'd call it as well, but I drive it on the street everday because when/if I were to race on the street its going to be a drag race. Im done trying to prove my point cause it seems like your head is to thick to see that Hondas are quick.

Just because hes not running street tires doesnt mean its not a streetable car, its not hard to unbolt your old wheels are put on some slicks to help at the track. This car on street tires would have spun 1/8 mile, so its pointless to run without slicks with a K swap. These cars also weigh 2050- 2250 depending on the chassis stock, so it could be street trim still.

@brin3535 Wat do u consider stock. Cuz the swap thats in there didnt come from the factory so i guess it isnt stock. But once it has stock internals and no additives like NOS or a turbo then its stock. Putting on an aftermarket header and computer still makes it a stock swap because you cant use them in these chasis.
