Droid X Hardware Review

Smart phones are really fucking stupid. Takes 2 1/2 hours to charge this piece of shit from 0% battery to 100% - Had the thing unplugged for 10 minutes and it was already down to 90% battery. Oh- and this is while the phone was on MAXIMUM BATTERY SAVER. Giving this piece of shit 1 more day before I return it. Stupid droid. Completely unsatisfied.

If you took a stock Droid X and compared it to my vanilla Droid, mine would outperform. Sure, Droid X has a better camera, but an average person really doesn't need more than 5 MP. My phone literally has free memory 24/7 with correct compressing settings and a MUCH bigger VM Heap Allocation. Even if someone was horrible enough to max out their internal memory, it's not that hard to shoo some over from your SD car unless you're complete retard status with tweaking.

@JakeEricson I could see that I had a hefty OC on my OG as well. Although I wouldn't say it was really "faster" per say than the X it seemed like it was right up there. So ya w/ a vanilla droid it's possible speed wise. As far as 3D performance the OG can't keep up even w/ the heftiest of OC's. Although for an old phone tweaked right it plays games considerably well. I love my X though w/ Apex 2.0 and a steady 1200mhz this phone screams.

Cheap? Light? The droid x has weight to it and feels solid...purely a quality smartphone! Love my droid x!...video and photos are excellent ...by the way, the droid sound u couldn't figure out was a notification...also the obvious blinking light top left is signaling that to u as well! Haha!...spend more time learning about the droid x and u wont question the quality again!

ur the only person ive ever heard say that this phone feels cheap. in my opinion this phone has the best hardware over anyphone on the android market right now and the fact that its light doesnt make it feel cheap it makes it feel nice to hold and takes away from the fact of how big it is. its one of the only phones with a metal back(android phones) soft touch coating great camera, high quality speaker, bright display that doesnt wash out in direct sunlight...yeah, reall cheap huh

Is the Droid X's 5.47 ounces (155g) not heavy enough for you?

Unless the Droid X's panels are ill / loosely fitted, or that it creaks, or its back scratches easily etc, there is really no justification to keep calling it 'cheap', 'low quality'.

This whole thing with the scenes modes and the camera and the microphones is really interesting, what I want to know is does the unit actually record stereo sound in the every day scene mode? Isn't the whole scene modes with the 3 microphones perhaps overkill for what is essentually a mobile phome? How well does the video camera system on this phone compare with a full featured dedicated camcorder from the likes of Canon, JVC or Sony?

No one actually holds a phone that hard unless the trying to do that. find the antenna on the droid x then put (grab) your hand on it and watch the signal drop. The iPhone has the best of everything on a phone. It created the touchscreen/ smartphone market rules the smartphone market

@CameronCust attempt at high quality? maybe u spent too much time holding the iPhone 4, although like brandon said its personal preference, to me as long as the phone doesnt fall apart after years then i consider high quality and also Droid X has Dual Antennas, great camera but cant compare to iPhone 4 ill have to admit but it also has HDMI output, metal back cover and other good things, tbh me personally i dont want a phone that weighs in like a brick i rather have a phone that isnt too heavy
