And when Luka kissed Miku on the forehead at the end of the song, it shows that Luka never held any grudges towards Miku. Thats one of the beautiful things about this song and story, its not a story that has anything to do with hate.

Most of this is exactly right ... except for the fact that in the real story she could dance. She did dance ALOT even though it hurt like knives, she danced because it was all she could do for the prince.

For all you arguing who is better, it really doesn't matter. People say they hate Miku because she always seems to be stealing something away from Luka. Keep in mind they are just drawings for each story. Think of every song as it's own. My two favorite songs are Witch Hunt and The Little Mermaid, and Luka gets the short end of the stick for both of those, but they are such great stories individually.
P.S. Luka is my favorite Vocaloid. (I still like Miku's music as well though)

Wow...after reading april4luck's comment and watching the video, this is strikingly like Once on This Island (a play based off of the book My Love, My Love). A poor girl finds a boy from the other, rich side of the island. After some argument between her parents and skepticism between the gods, she goes after the boy back to his home. They fall in love, but the boy marries another girl. The first girl dies and the gods turn her into a tree. Me thinks that this isn't a coincidence.

She's right, that's how it is in the original version of the story. Len thinks that Miku saved him because he woke up to see Miku, not Luka. But he finds out when she turns into sea foam, but ends up marrying Miku anyway. By the way, I'm using Vocaloid names because I can't remember the original names! XD

@Rimaalice haha, yeah... None of the Disney fairy tales are the original stories ^^ Actually most of them were all dark and not suited for children... Like, on Snow White, she made her evil step mother dance in hot iron shoes until she died. And in Cinderella, the sisters actually amputated their ankle and toes so their feet would fit on the glass shoe.

Wow...after reading april4luck's comment and watching the video, this is strikingly like Once on This Island (a play based off of the book My Love, My Love). A poor girl finds a boy from the other, rich side of the island. After some argument between her parents and skepticism between the gods, she goes after the boy back to his home. They fall in love, but the boy marries another girl. The first girl dies and the gods turn her into a tree. Me thinks that this isn't a coincidence.

@naru0sasu1fan Well, this is actually based on the original story of the Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen (which the Disney movie is also based on). You should look it up, this song is quite accurate to the original story.

@Rimaalice actually this is the original story of the little mermaid. The story of the little mermaid was around long before disney's version. How the story goes in this video is how the actual story is supposed to go. I remember watching a cartoon of the little mermaid that came out before disneys and it was just like this one. So people feel disney ruined the story because they turned it from a tragedy into a cliche goody goody kids film

@april4luck Actually, before she turned into sea foam, the air spirits converted her into one of them and told her that if she waited 1000 years (I think) She'd be able to rise above to the kingdom of God where she'd live eternally. For a mermaid that's a lot since mermaid souls aren't etarnal because thay have an already large lifespan (About 300 years I think)

@april4luck But also in the original version, the reason the mermaid wanted a human husband to begin with (before meeting the prince) was because mermaids had no souls. They lived for up to 300 years and then dissolved into nothing.
Her strong desire for a soul lead to her becoming a 'daughter of air' where she was meant to do good deeds for another 300 years before earning a soul and ascending to heaven.
So it's not entirely sad, is it? She got what she fist wanted I suppose...

I went to sleep listening to this, and had a dream. My sister was Luka, and I was Rin. Every second I could, I would watch her carefully with great worry in my heart. It was horrible, watching my sister die. But after she did, and she became a Wind and Waves spirit, I could hear her. I could hear her song play in the currents and ripples. I woke up, with my cat licking my face because of all the tears I cried that night... Curse you Disney!!! You ruined The Little Mermaid!!! DX
