I'm sorry, but I couldn't even socialize with someone who didn't like Train Spotting - I could forgive someone not being mad over it but to not like it full stop! that just cries out bad taste in cinema - sorry Edwin, love the show though.
I only clicked to see if you said anything about Sunshine. I agree, it's a brilliant film. Just terrific. Too bad about the 90 degree left turn it takes in the final act, but still great.
It will be interesting to see what 127 Hours, his follow-up to Slumdog Millionaiire, is like. A film about a man trapped on a mountain by a boulder that's fallen on his arm, before he hacks off his arm. I'm sure he will pull it off. The film, that is. Not the arm.
totally disagree with 28 weeks later being good at all. just awful. but 28 days....good, not zombies however, just infected.hate that people associate this with zombie flicks
To be honest, The Beach is not underrated, A Life Less Ordinary however, is.
Even Danny Boyle didn't like making The Beach that much.
The biggest problem with A Life Less Ordinary is that it work have worked like a charm if they had just cut the heaven sequence in the beginning out. The Hunter and Lindo characters would have been excellent, and the movie would have been a lot more interesting.
I'm glad you guys think The Beach is underrated, it's actually my second favourite Danny Boyle movie, and I agree with Jeff on the fact that too many people were hung up on Leo's character from Titanic, that they didn't understand that he's an extremely intense actor and not just a hearthrob.
The trouble with the Beach was the deviation from the book (which was excellent). Also they got into trouble with conservationists about the pollution they did to the untouched island they filmed on location. Good story, and shot beautifully, but the book is 1 million times better, I'd recommend that to everyone.
Okay, but that's not a bad thing. Film and literature are two completely different mediums, you have to look at each one without comparing them. The only comparable quality between the two is the spirit of them.
Anyway, I'm a french student in cinema and I did my Master on Danny Boyle's work. He is my fav director and I am very greatfull to you guys to finaly take his work seriously. Some day, people will finaly talk about Danny Boyle as a major director and not just one of the quite talented ones of our times. Congratultions.
I love these episodes, I've watched a lot of the filmes that are mentioned here on the show that I haven't seen like the original "Get Carter" and "Shallow Grave".
Keep up the good work and upload more as often as you can.
I'm enjoying Cinefiles very much. Saw 28 weeks later last night, i didn't think it was any where near as good as 28 days later. Sunshine is amazing, i hope to see more Sci fi films of this quality in the future, it's very rare that a decent one comes along. I watched Screamers after veiwing your show on Phillip K Dick, i liked it very much indeed Peter Weller is so cool. Anyway, how about a discussion on the films of David Lynch? Inland Empire just fried my brains.

Very cool, guys. I'm gonna add to the suggestions list a show about P.T. Anderson, especially since There Will Be Blood is coming out this year.

Sorry, sometimes you get a brainfart. I couldn't believe I forget - it happens! I'm happy I remember as much as I do these days.

I'm gonna' reply to this one, too. Alex Garland may have taken over as SCREENWRITER post Beach, but The Beach was HIS novel.
So there.
