zeus is junk cant trust it at all, hydraulic lines pop, blades get flung off the props, computers lock up, steering locks up, if you buy zeus you will be sorry...but thats my opinion. if u cant dock your boat the traditional way you probably dont belong on the water
Volvo IPS is in over 100 boat manufacturers. How many Merc/Cummins Zeus product are out there? Compare and see how many independant boat builders choose Volvo!
Unless there are a million boat companies, you would realize how incorrect you are. Brunswick owns or owned many of the boat mfg's that exist. This pod drive system is fairly new and the economy is very weak. Don't fool yourself, Volvo IS NOT a better product than Mercury Marine.
Check your fax dude. I was a little off when I mentioned 100 builders uses the IPS product. There are actually 115 boat builders in 23 countries using IPS. In May this year Volvo Penta shipped it's 10,000th IPS unit. VP introduced IPS in 2004. Merc in 2007. Volvo engineers manufacture the WHOLE unit. Merc uses Cummins engines with these pods. The choice is up to the boater, but I think it's obvious what that choice should be.
Zeus is more responsive, don't have to hold joystick down, rear facing props deal with line better and submerged objects, Zeus deals with runarounds/ hits far better, look up the Thailand boat club ips incident on a sunseeker portofino 47, ips didn't sheer off and flooded entire engine compartment, people have reported driving Zeus lower units into concrete walls , retrieve them, replace bolts and refit, try that with ips you'll get a sunken boat
ips units are designed to shear off in case off heavy impact. Unlike inboard engs that could sink the boat if impacted hard, the ips unit is water tight at the ips/hull joint and won't allow water into the boat. I googled the Thailand incident you refer to and got no hits....
who cairs. ever see the water jacket rout that these things get? iv worked on boat's alot. actully its my job. merc's are probebly one of the best built motors. they last the longest.
My family owns a boat company. You can't even spell 'cares.' Mercs are a pain in the ass to work on and they don't last nearly as long as Volvo drives do. And, if you actually worked on boats, you'd know that Merc and Volvo don't actually make the motors. Both use modified GM blocks for their gas engines.
@polakbiker lmao no... ive had 3 and all of them stranded me far from home, and they were new with propper maintenence and running them by the book, they sucks ass
