@Jamiesjammin1 Started guitar at 5, piano at 7, and bass and drums I messed around with probably around that time. My "professional" title is having a degree in jazz piano.
@AmbientAudio Thanks a lot! That really means a lot to hear that. This video wasn't nearly as easy as it may look lol. Well if you want to help me get more views feel free to share it!
@KevinHamProductions1 Thanks dude. Yeah, mixing bass is my weakest point. Haha i never know what I want or what is the right amount or tone or anything.
sweet man! I liked it before the solo came in, i loved it after. Good editing, check out my split-screen jam. I need to get some real drums on my tracks rather than a keyboard.
Congratulations Andrew ! I'm 54 years old and I'm normally not into this kind of music. But your video is the first one that I saw completely, because........ what you do here is just .....fascinating ! Your future lies in the world of music, that's for sure :) !!
hell yeah man nice stuff!!! i was actually thinking of doing something like this and thought it'd be so original, but i stumbled upon this randomly and youre way more legit and i would look like a poser trying to do it anyway. haha!
Nice stuff man! That must've taken a million takes to get that right! I do multitrack stuff but never all in one take with looping like that, I'd go crazy before I could ever get a decent take
@BrighamHB Hahaha it wasn't easy that's forsure. I actually tried it a week earlier and got a decent take, but as a perfectionist I knew it wasn't as good as I could do it. This one was the closest to my standards, however there are about 15 other complete takes...
You'd be better if you didn't hold your guitar backwards. I mean, really. Do you see anyone playing keyboards Left side high, right side low?! Answer: NO. Just kidding. It's just as much fun to watch your joy as it is to listen to you. Very in-the-vortex playing. I dig it. Keep it up!
@rustOfunk Hahaha, thanks man! I think your "mirror-keyboard" idea is rather brilliant tho. Let me know once you get a test model and I'll give it a try!
Wow, man! That was coooool!! I'm writing this in Denver, Colorado right now. I'm over for the BHS Internationals in Kansas next week. Heard your quartet aren't going. Spewing! Was looking forward to meeting you blokes!
@NickMercurio I did that while I was editing. When I recorded it, it didn't loop, which is why I had to play to a really loud metronome and a scratch track I made. Afterwards I trimmed the sections for each instrument and then looped them.
Thanks for another terrifically entertaining vid, Andrew. Your multifaceted musical talent is great, and part of what makes it so good is the infectious joy you clearly seem to feel as you're creating music and layering tracks. (Your nice smile doesn't hurt, either!) Thanks again; I look forward to your next post. :)
What?!? No brass?!? You have enough talent to be twenty or thirty people! I'm so glad I subscribed to your channel. I love to see your one man multi-talent extravaganzas. Keep them coming.
@jimbobaroobud thanks man! Haha I DID seriously consider putting sax and trumpet on this one, but I only have 8 inputs and all of them were being used already! Besides, I'm sure I would mispitch some of the trumpet notes making it impossible to pull off.
@ToXicX1994 I'm mostly self-taught. My dad showed me some chords when I was 5 and I kinda took it from there. I have studied with some classical and jazz teachers for a few years along the way, and at the same time I was also studying classical and jazz piano, so a lot of the theory knowledge overlapped. I was huge into shredder guitar players in high school, guys like Vai, Satch, Malmsteen, Eric Johnson, Dream Theater. I'm a little more mellow now, playing a lot of funk, rock, fusion and jazz.
@skidfrog Thank you! Glad to hear you're rocking out. I encourage people to wear as many "musical hats" as they like. My videos are a wide assortment of varying musical genres and different instrumentation, and I don't do that to prove or "show-off" that I can do it. I do it because I really love it and I'm always finding myself inspired by other people to try different things, it's how we grow as musicians and as people.
You are the best music player i know of, and I think you have the making of being the biggest hit in the music industry! you are amazing at your music, and dont you forget it man. keep on rocking man! :DDD
Mr. Kesler, you're probably one of my greatest idols. As someone who is just beginning to work with recording and multitracking, you seem to be a fantastic creative beacon. Your work is very much appreciated, and I love how your attention for detail is balanced out by your equally-present sense of tongue-and-cheek fun. Thank you so much.
@defribilatorvideos Thank you so much! That's very encouraging of you to say! Haha I don't think "idol" is the right word, but it really makes me happy to know that my work has inspired you! I have plenty of people that I look up to and emulate. Yours is one of the nicest comments I've ever received on youtube, and I won't take it lightly. Thank you for your attention to detail as a listener/viewer. I try and do my best with my work while putting on my personality in it and I'm glad you noticed!
Ladies and Gentlemen the Multi-talented Multi-Instrumentalist and Amazing Vocalist Andrew Kesler!! Andrew this subscription is worthwhile! Great video! Congrats!
Don't make MY mistake! Listen to this on a computer with good speakers, not a lap-top! Question: How long before Andrew can earn a VERY comfortable living strictly by using his musical talents? I'm guessing it won't be long at all.
@MDMesser001 hahaha well if everyone was as awesome as you Mike, that may just happen! I'm blessed to have so many awesome subscribers and supporters here on Youtube. And as long as they stay that way, I"ll do my best to make videos for them.
AWESOME! My only question is: why play the bass upside-down? Were you showing off that you could play it that way or is that just how you learned to play it?
@drumguy127 Well I play guitar left-handed, BUT I don't own a left-handed bass, so I had to play my dad's right-handed bass backwards. It's not as hard as it looks and this wasn't a particularly hard bassline. You'll find a lot of left-handed guitarists can usually fake their way on a right-handed instrument just because most often if there's a guitar lieing around, it's right-handed so we exercise adaptive radiation!
@AndrewKesler Well don't I feel silly now. That was actually my first guess, but I didn't pick up on the fact that you were playing left-handed guitar. >.<
@MoonPhysical Haha you're right.... all that stuff costs a lot indeed. Thankfully I have generous friends that let me borrow stuff when I need it! Plus I stopped buying Pokemon cards so I have a little more money to spare ;)
Epic! The bass player for my dad's band learned the same way, had to flip the right handed bass over. He's an awesome player now, and he's been playing it that way for 35 years.
@GeorgePatrickStokes I had the same problem - turns out the bass doesn't come through on lap-top or cheap speakers. Plays GREAT on my desktop, which has decent speakers.
@AndreaAranaChannel Hard question to answer. I've been playing all these instruments for a minimum of 12 years... Although I focus mostly on piano/keys and guitar now, I still try and practice a bit. Mostly it's just being around great musicians who inspire you and really keeping your eyes and ears open. I learn a lot by watching and listening to great players, and I'm surrounded by amazing musicians in all the groups I play in, there's tons of ways to learn (apart from private lessons).

My head just exploded from watching so much awesomeness. You're one fine, talented entertainer Andrew. And you do it with a big happy smile, so seamlessly. Wow!
