Errrrr combat/battle/assault rifles just because they can fire full auto THEY ARE NOT MACHINE GUNS. Something like a C9/M249 SAW or C6/M240 .50 cal Ma |Deuce are machine guns.

@kasfami It's important to know that all guns have magazines. That's the part that stores the bullets. Sometimes the magazine is detachable, and sometimes it isn't. When it's detachable, you can either fill it back up or replace it with a fully loaded magazine. When it's not detachable, bullets must be put into the gun one by one. That is, unless you have a clip. A clip is a device that holds multiple bullets together so that, when it's time to reload, you don't have to put them in one by one.

@kasfami Technically there is no such thing a a clip they are all magazines, rifle, pistol etc doesn't matter. But alot of people use the term clip to refer to a pistol magazine.

@MrMMABoy an assault rifle IS a machine gun. an assault rifle as defined by the military is a "select fire machine gun utilizing mid sized RIFLE amunition" as opposed to a submachine gun which utilizes pistol amunition. or a full sized thirty calibur machine gun. if it is incapable of select fire it CAN NOT be classified as an assault rifle. if it uses pistol amunition it CAN NOT be classified as an assault rifle. if it uses full sized thirty calibur amunition it CAN NOT be an assault rifle

@amyhuk not sure how the US works but in the Canadian Forces our C7's are rifles, if anyone called it a gun they were quickly told it's a rifle so in our Forces at least it's a rifle and only called rifle or C7.

the M16 does have the ability to go full-auto, but it's not used the same as a minigun. You can shoot a full mag at the target, but unless you hit it, you'd be better off with 1 well aimed shot.

Better convince firearm manufacturers to create a 5.56 Ak rifle and having the sighting mechanism of the M16. The Ak is known for its rugged reliability and the M16 is known for its light recoil due to its diminutive ammo but high velocity and this makes able to carry more ammo. In the philippines we should have already that kind of rifle if not because of corrupt mind of a General who promise to help the inventor of that combination but later take the weapon and leave that poor gunmaker.

no ak47 is an assualt rifle, it was one of the second assault rifle in the world, it was designed by mikhail kalanshinikov in 1947 based off the mp43 design and was adopted by Russia as the main rifle, it was classified as an assault rifle and its full name is the automatic kalanshinikov 47. Kalashnikov admitted it, he did not base it off stg. mp44 uses tilting bolt, ak uses rotating bolt. so I suggest you do research before you talk. And no, first true assult rifle was fedorov avtomat, made in russia fired fedorov intermediate.
