Eine völlig unglaubliche Performance. 4 Typen auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer Kreativität. Losgelöst, voller Temperament und Hingabe. Sagenhaft. In der Form fast nichts Besseres gehört.
This is one of the greatest achievements of these guys. This begs the question of just how crazy can it get? The sky's the limit. No bounds...Thanks, y' all! ! Yer' fan from way back, B
Chick's classical schooling is so clear here... Great post! The composition ("Humpty Dumpty"), the "kitchen", the sound and the fantastic Bob Berg (RIP)...
You know,it does bother me when people compare one musician with another, but come on, this partnership of Gadd, Gomez, Berg and Corea is simply another awesome canvas. If you don't like it leave! But don't insult their art because it doesn't suit your taste! This the band that was staged and what a band! This is my first time listening to this band and Bob Berg is simply awesome. May he rest in peace!
@emusonparole I love it!!! Put that one in quotes with your name underneath it. Hope you dont mind if i use it, I promise i will site you as the source!LOL you summed up in one sentence what usually takes me four.
I love how Chick Corea and Bob Berg get a twitch around their neck after noticing that Bob was a little out of tune. Their performance is absolutely burnin'!
holy crap bob berg! i remember going to a jazz (more specifically saxophone) clinic of his when my high school's jazz band was to play at EKU....cool stuff
Thats a cool 'coda' in which the sax drops out @ '9:48' and re-enters @ '9:56'. Kind of pays homage to the 'Mad Hatter' arrangement and also adds something new to the composition. Bet that was GADD'S idea !!!!
You have got to be kidding. Chick is more than 60 years old now. And last time I saw him he looked great and healthy. What's with the disrespect. People change through time.
obviamente toda la cancion es increiblemente genial, pero para mi la parte climax es ese cambio de ritmo y el solo de bajo que hay de 7:03-7:20 , ese cambio de ritmo es espectacular, no ves como la gente aplaude en ese momento?
You can say what you want about Gomez's taste, but that's the way he exactly play on the most part of his solos. And, belive me, he's incredible, he sing on double bass and that's the way double bass should be played!
If you guys think that Bob Berg can't play Jazz, I suggest you check him out on Cedar Walton's Eastern Rebellion 2 album from 1977. Sure he was influenced by Brecker, but he could play his ass off ,even back then.
Not preferring a musician does not equal a musician having no clue as to how he should play his style. I listen to Berg a lot and he has played from hard bop to rock fusion, two opposing worlds within jazz, without having a repetitive sound or overused licks. He uses a unique style to all his solos while still always being Bob Berg. Whether you like him or not, that's very ignorant to say.
Here's what I think of Bob Berg. Mostly a brecker clone, but with a bigger sound most of the time, and slightly different ideas. He's good. I love both of them.
I went to school in East Hampton with Dave Berg, Bob's son, We couldn't believe it when Bob and his wife were killed in that car accident. Miss him...
I´ve been browsing on the web for years, but I still don´t get used to its wonders.
If my mind says "oh, I´d like to watch a chick corea video where he jams a lot with other exceptional musicians", this wish is just a few clicks away from being accomplished. It´s crazy.
The web was originaly invented by US intelligenceagency with the purpose of securing government data from mother russia. But later on it became accesable for amateurs like me and you 'n here we are today. Btw i was born in the year of the recording of this :)
Yea, imagine if the web were invented a couple hundred years ago. We could dial up Beethoven rehearsing his 9th symphony. the world will never be the same with the web. Everything is documented now. I just watched Michael Brecker on a club gig in NY. I'm sure he had no idea he was even being videotaped.
Chick is just a sick animal... what can you say! He is the sequence master.
Man, do I miss Bob Berg. I guess I would be playin' my ass off too If I was standing in front of the BADD Mr. Gadd and Gomez. Check those trilly licks at aout 3:00!!! Yeah!
I watched this twice in a row and it was even more mind blowing the second time... these guys were flyin' with out a net!
This is the first time I've ever seen Eddie Gomez. I love the tone of his bass and his choices of notes. I always imagined him with monster hands though, like Stanley Clarke.
Chick looks so skinny!
This is one of my favorite Chick Corea songs, it is great to see it finally. Thanks.
I came here to hear a great performance...which I got. Some guy just came to get into politics. Hey buddy, none of us like organized racism.
