  • I lol'd hard. Good job guys.

  • should do the orange at glentress xDDD

  • There are 36" wheel mtn bikes now. They can roll over anything.

  • WHATS THE SONG!?

  • he didnt even do it on a full size farthing, when he does it on one with a 52-56 inch wheel then i will be impressed

  • The song is as crazy as the guy riding that bike... :)

  • you call that a penny farthing

  • holy shit this is the best video ever

  • Of course a traditional penny farthing has a front wheel exactly 3 feet in diameter and was invented in Tibet.

  • Good

  • Best part is the tune!

  • where is this course?

  • Laggan, near Dalwhinnie, off the A9, northern Scotland, UK

  • I'm a trick cyclist.

  • ohh shit i was at laggan its great :D

  • the other cyclists looking at him "the fuck?!?"

  • I'm going to build one with a free-wheel, 41cc engine and front and rear brakes

  • lol with the red shorts shorts...Ridiculous

  • wish i hade a bike trail like that near me.

    stupid England -_-

  • At the time, you ride a Velocipede if you're too chicken to ride a Penny Farthing .

  • so extreme

  • so extreme

  • SCRATCH ATTACK!!!!!!!!

  • That would be so much fun! :D

  • Good luck to him! It's only meant to be a bit of fun.

  • i kept on watching voz of the song.. haha hektic

  • what a waste of a really fun looking trail.

  • Erm... Laggan's trails are amazing and I can safely say we've ridden them on normal bikes too!

  • hahaha i dnt no wot he's on about.. sod the normal bikes... get a few farthins racin down there... hahahaha now that would be funny :-D

  • @Benjiman72391 Some people really do miss "the point".....muppet!

  • Is that what a 29er downhill bike looks like?

  • @C1vart83 36er down hill bike lol

  • Clearly this dude has no skills. Go see what can be done on a unicycle, putz. With that said, great tune choice.

  • What the hell is that ridiculous song?!?!?!?!? Artist? Title?

  • Awesome. Good Song, too. He needs a bowler hat, though

  • lol get danny macaskill on 1 XD ask him to do a bit of street trials

  • Ok firstly...he takes his feet off the pedals because there is no free-wheel...so the pedals will be going to fast for him to keep up, and keep control...secondly..he's wearing pads because he is nearly a meter above pretty harsh gravel in shorts.would you want to land on sharp gravel in shorts? I thought not..case closed.

  • penny farthings FTW

  • He needs a bigger t-shirt.

  • Check out "Mr Mackenzie´s Marvelous Day Out", also on my youtube page, to find out what he's actually wearing below that totally unnecessary body armour! ;-)

  • Haha, cool I want to have a go. Do they commercially make Penny Farthings or is that custom made?

  • clearly, you've never ridden a penny farthing.

  • extreme penny farthing

    lmao

  • where can I get a penny farthing?

  • That thing is a death warrant.

  • you just have to ask why :P haha i liked it though

  • any relation to bob or doug you hoser.

  • Sorry, but what is the name of the song?

    cool vid!

  • Original worked so much better- a track by Gypsy Sound System. Youtube didn't allow me to keep it on though so I've had to change it to one of their options... Read other comments, I think it's detailed below.

  • click on statistics and data to find the name of the song

  • Title: I Am A Psychiatrist

    Author: Lee "Scratch" Perry

    Album: Panic in Babylon

  • Comment removed

  • hahahaha good lad!

  • if they had a freewheel, id get one. i suppose ic lould take my feet off the pedals, but that would give me no control over speed. I will definitely arrive at my yea 11 prom on one :)

  • haha! that looked fun as hell,

wheres the trail? and what song is that?

  • the song is called I am a psychiatrist by the legendary Lee Perry.

  • I did the black run in a shopping trolley.

  • Can't wait to see the vid!

  • Hey teebarn....what exactly is your point?

A "Pennyfarthing" is a specific thing, and this odd little bike cannot be called by that name, unless it is by totally misinformed people.

This little bike does not have a "heaouuuuuuuge" (your term) front wheel as a Pennyfarthing does.

Does it matter to you if your name is Bob and people call you Jane all the time? Well, it bothers people who know better when others call their favorite bikes by the wrong names.

  • Wow, so I guess it really does bother some people then... (that the front wheel on this beast isn't as big as it should be) Each to their own...

  • no kidding. people are indeed fools. apparently they would rather see you being catapulted from a 52" wheel... not to mention that the "classic" PF's were available in (approx) 38" and 48" as well... so how does it climb? ha!

  • That silly bike is NOT a Penny Farthing, although it does have a larger front wheel. A real Penny Farthing is about three times bigger, and it would be be much harder to ride it on this track.

Also, probably nobody who owns a real one would allow their prized bike to be risked this way.

posted by somebody who owns and rides real ones.....

  • Good on you Youtuuba... I love the way all these people write posts as if it really matters whether this is an "original Penny Farthing" or a ridiculous bike with a fixed cog running on a heaouuuuuuuge front wheel... Surely to most people's minds the latter would also be known as a Penny Farthing!? Does it matter!?

  • ride whit orginal Penny-farthing

  • Yep, lend us one and we´ll be well up for it!

  • ive never tried a penny farthing but i do ride trials and mountain unicycling its fun

  • Lee Perry didnt know?

  • I'm actualy amazed that someone can do that haha.

  • please try a backflip on one of them that would be sooo awsome if u landed it

  • ha ha ha ... very good :-) I'll be even more impressed though if you can wheelie it !

  • i can do vert on one of them! serious

  • all i can ask, is why?

but then i look in my garage and see mine from the early 1900's and think to myself...

    ...why NOT?

  • Nice Music!.

But I had a question: How can you apply the brakes to this Bike???????.

cuz, I have a low idea of how, maybe stopping the peddals.

But If you are running too fast, How can you apply the breaks without crashing in the floor???.

  • Cheers. Well, yeah, first of all Penny Farthings run on a fixed wheel, so if you apply backwards force on the pedals it slows the monster down. These wee specialities from Square Wheels come with a cheeky little caliper brake which helps a bit, too.

  • just a step down from giant-wheel unicycle mtn biking

  • lol its like a unicycle with a support

  • who makes that bike???

  • Not sure exactly but get on to Square Wheels in Strathpeffer and ask them. Tell them I sent you too, cheers!

  • Nice, imagine doing that on a full size one, ARGHH!!!

  • that is not a real penny farthing the front wheel it tooo small

  • man id love to take a dirt bike down that trail

  • Lol the song sounds familiar... is it from Borat?

  • Thanks everybody for commenting on the music this vid DID have on it... unfortunately youtube gathered that it wasn´t all together legal so made me use a track from their own repetoire... It´s changed the whole vid in terms of feeling to be honest, so I´m sorry to everybody for that. If you´ve got the Gypsy Sound System track used in the Borat film to hand, I highly recommend watching this vid with that instead!

  • must have had a sore arse after that

  • That takes skill, esp. since you can't shift your weight back and forth easily on those.

  • That truly is awesome, and great choice of song! It is called "Mahalageasca" (as mentioned below) and is by Mahala Raï Banda (look for their myspace page, the tune is on there amongst others) - people interested in this music may want to try searching for Amsterdam Klezmer Band and Balkan Beatbox, see what it brings up ;)

    Thanks for posting the video!

  • Thanks Russ, pleased to see this vid keeps on amusing people. I still personally prefer the other one I did that same day - ´Mr Mackenzie´s Marvelous Day Out´. Have a look! Also, if anybody´s interested in trailbuilding or MTBing in Mexico, give me a shout... I won´t be beaten for multi-lingual, serious MTB tours in Mexico!!!

    Cheers.

  • Pretty scary, there is NO brake and a very high centre of gravity. Thanks a lot.

  • He's got a caliper brake, like on 10-speeds, you can just see it on the close-ups.

  • This is so DAMN cool - thank you for this one! :D

  • For anybody still lost on the soundtrack, the same song can be found on the "Borat" movie album, entitled "Mahalageasca".

  • where might I aquire such a transport???

  • As far as I know the good chaps at Square Wheels in Strathpeffer near Dingwall, Scotland, still have a good supply of Pennies. Tell them I sent you if you could!

  • I want tio see some flip whips on that suka lol
