@kottmeier yeah you right but i made the question because i read from somebody else, the drummer is tommy aldridge, and i thought,i miss his hear, but thank for your help.
This guy was always 1 of my favorites.I was lucky enough to see him 4 times in concert.Once in the US Navy recruit training command Enlisted club in orlando fla,, wow.I was 20 feet away from him.Never forget that.
@Bonesnapperr That is soo cool .Did not know the navy would be hip enough to do a booking of the PTB . must have been a real treat for the crews to see the band .
I saw Pat Travers in 1980 and in 1983. The concert in l980 was with Pat Thrall on guitar and it was way better than in 83. Can't even remember who was playing guitar then (other than Pat). @randallcaster....you've got it right on the line up!!
What cool music! Seen him play a dive-bar up in North Texas in the late 90s and, needless to say he rocked the joint! Had this chiick up on my shoulders during "Snortin'" lol!
I go to the same High school as his son. Elijah Travers. Pat Travers came to our school and gave a presentation with a PRS and a fender G-Dec. Pretty sick.
I met him at a Holloween party, I asked what kinda stuff he played, He said " I can play some "Pat Travers" stuff. Cool, I said, let's hear it.
Ten years later I find out that it was him. Pat Travers! What a small World we live in. Great guy. I played for about, yeah he was hard to follow. 1 song. then he was back on. Hired to play before he was huge popular. A night (Boo) I will never forget.
Fabulous musicality and musicians in this video. THIS really shows the mastery of Pat's musicianship.. It's a minor blues with all kinds of intelligent jazzy choral stuff to add tension. He really is a musical genius above all else. Yes, he's great axeman, a real soulful singer.. BUT, it is his compositional skills that really get under the listener's skin in ways that very, very few other bluesy-based rock bands will ever be able to. My opinion of course .....
lol its obviously nicko on the drums for u noobs out there who dont know anything. Seriously, does anyone set the ride like that? nope...I can just tell by listening to those fills and triplets here and there
anyone who can distinguish drummers playing styles and knows anything about drummers and listen to their favorite bands enough can close their eyes and tell the sound of a favorite drummer Nikkos style was definitely a lot more jazz
oriented here but he was fitting the style the way he plays high hat and when it
hits a fast run he plays just like he does in maiden it's obviously his style.
His later line-up with Tommy Aldridge and Pat Thrall really kicked ass, but I still think the magic combination for Pat was this one, with Nicko behind the drums. Mars Cowling deserves to be mentioned with the great bass players in rock. . Awesome band. Awesome vid.
This song is featured on one of my favourite albums,"Makin' Magic". I saw Pat Traverse open for Aerosmith in 1984ish while Rick Dufay and Jimmy Crespo were in that band. For you beginners check out "Puttin' It Straight"
@mikevod I saw him open up for Foghat when I was 15 and was completely blown away....haa, and it was only my 2nd concert. I agree, he should be in...!
@mikevod i only know 2 song of his, but yes he should. i don't understand why he didn't become more famous... maybe he was born in the wrong time....still his playing is great and more unique then the playing of many so called guitar heroes....
too bad he was so full of himself...i saw him in cleveland in the '80's and he got booed out of the place after only playing about 35 minutes...had some great moments here...
Hey bad boogerfinger...Fuck you man...I was there...Portland ,Or..They played with Sammy Hagger and Blue Orster cult....You must be a young dumb shit man It's fucking music.......
@silverado669 they are alright. Not too into the thro-back redo thing. If you are going to take the blues thing on, try and take it in a newer direction. ie...zack weisinger. In my opinion.
Damn the Canucks! Helix, Pat; Frank; killer Dwarfs, Triumph, Rush, BTO, the only bad Can Rock band i got is Anvil and I still don't know why I have 3 albums from them.
I remember when Tommy Aldridge quit the band. When he was asked why he said " there isn't enough room on stage for two bass drums and Pat Travers head " I had to laugh, but Pat is still great in my book. saw him many times in the 70s always a great show.
I saw them open for ACDC in Charleston WV in 79 or 80 with in my opinion, one of the greatest bands ever, Pat Travers, Pat Thrall, Mars Cowling and Tommy Alldridge. That was Bon Scott days too. Killer Time.
@beermad68 Seeing Aldridge with Randy was awesome because all the members of Blizzard of OZ ,and the opening act Def Leppard...both had 1 album out,,but now I'm jealous cause I never saw Zep. was going in the winter to see them but Bonham died, crap
Pat Travers is the most underated guitar player, singer, songwriter, father and truly a very nice guy . He has a new 2010 cd available on (Alexus record label) called "Fidelis" that once again proves that he still has the right stuff !
Ed's Guitars!!!! Now there is a blast from the past. Kent Sonneberg is still in the biz. He was the main guitar guy at Thoroughbred and now has his own store once again in Tampa called Legends. So do you any of you remember when Travers filled in for Ozzy at the Orange Bowl after Randy Rhodes died and not only trashed our ears (LOUD!!) but also Foreigner's PA system? LOL I saw him with Mars Cowling in 88-89 for free on Clearwater Beach, That has to be right before Cowling left.
Pat has gotten ZERO airplay and/or recognition... but all it took for any of us is to see him once...I've seen him in coliseums (Jacksonville) and bars (the Bacchanal SD)...he went his own way and stayed true to the rock...PT...we salute you!!!
@SolarTiger I remember seeing him open for the Outlaws in Jacksonville coliseum back in the day and when the Outlaws came on people started leaving. Pat blew the Outlaws off the stage. Pat is the man !!!
@rebelyell1962 ...I bet this was the same show!...It just floors me that this guy has had 10+ albums and no one knows who he is...I agree w/ the leaving...I think I was one of them!...1 guy with a guitar sounded better than 3 guitarist that were with Outlaws (sorry fella's)...
I believe that Pat Travers is one of the greatest guitar players of all time, and excellent vocals on top of that. Shit these Germans must have drank too many beers or something because they look out of it.
Who is the drummer in this piece not Tommy Aldridge? anyways...THIS IS A CLASSIC!...Just a note...this could have been enhanced with Pat Thrall playing in the back-ground. Thanks
Between 76 & 79 I was lucky enough to see The Pat Travers Band 4 times and I can remember bits and pieces of each show for obvious reason. Can't really count how many concerts I saw in my late teens but these really stand out. In my opinion Pat Travers was, and maybe still is, one of the most under rated guitar players around.
I saw PT twice, first opening for Aerosmith on their 'Rock and a Hard Place' Tour 1982, I believe, they played after Rose Tattoo opened the show. i have never seen travers to know what he looked like. i've always liked his voice and smooth guitar sounds. but yea this is 70's roots rock. as a keyboard player i get asked who my influences are, and usually i pick guitar players like travers lol.
PT lived in coconut grove south florida, he'd stop in a few Grove bars back in the 70s-early 80s and sit in the with guys from Ed's guitar shop-Not Just guitars- Larry-Ron-Glen, it was so cool. He got a cool sound from the double cut gibson Melody Marker 67, Mars Cowling was with him a few times, Pat Thrall also.Black Friday was rockin-Life in london SHEESH!!, I miss those nights:) Gone forever!.
surly Ed... good times... Carroll Music on Bird... Miami still rocked in the early 80's... the Hut... Button South (FTL)... the SPORTATORIUM... Marlins Stadium... we saw Pat many times!
fuck me...nicko is one funky motherfucker man...i already knew how much ass he kicked in maiden but listen to this shit...he is comin out appice style.
great Video...grew up on Travers...Mars Cowling made that band...made it TIGHT....if you see Travers now...justa lil loose...no Mars...

i have never seen travers to know what he looked like. i've always liked his voice and smooth guitar sounds. but yea this is 70's roots rock. as a keyboard player i get asked who my influences are, and usually i pick guitar players like travers lol.
