  • Gabby is my favorite. I love that snake.

  • I <3 Mr. Sniffles. Is he your favorite? You answered my question I asked previously in another video about why you feed smaller prey items. I'll stop with the questions until I catch up on all your videos! Keep them going I enjoy every single one I've watched so far

  • ViperKeeper Youtube is better that the animal planet, they need to give you a show!

  • and that is the only snatch ull see in ur lifetime my friend!

  • @Zaku186 I have a wife, she is all I need...

  • @viperkeeper good shit man. what about the fangs how often do they shed them?

  • @Zaku186 I have no idea...

  • Gabby was like "Wait for it.... Wait for it.... SNATCH!" *Camera changes* "What can't a snake eat?!"

  • its not safe for mr sniffles with MR big mac around :S

  • lol i flinched when the snake got the rat

  • what is the biggest food item you have had to feed a very large snake?

  • @zachryan10 Rats

  • @viperkeeper What i wanna know is when a snake is feeding and it can't bite you cause it has a rat in it's mouth. Can you pet them then? Or will they just drop it and bite you?

  • @oLiiLaGGzZo I have no idea, you try it first and we'll see what happens.

  • @viperkeeper LOL, i have no venomous snake's to try it on.

  • Gabby's fangs are sooooo long -- can she bite her lower jaw?

  • mr. sniffles is kinda cute... but tarantulas are still more my speed. I like many types of exotic creatures

  • gaboons and rhino vipers are my favorite venomous species. how is their care? ive kept rattle snakes before but i mostly keep pythons.

  • Great Videos!!!! Snakes are not the mindless killing machines they are made out to be

  • Amazing video, Iit's very obvious that you are knowledgable and care for your snakes.

  • adorable snakes

  • by far this has to be my favorite video out of all you have.I have kept various reptiles for 18 years now and will do so for as long as I am able to do so.I have nothing but respect for you sir.you represent the herper world in such a great way.You add alot of info with humor to make the perfect blend to keep it educational and entertaining all at the same time.I owned a gaboon at one time and by far it was my favorite snake i have owned. In the end hots are not for me to keep but will always lik

  • please tell me your useing tongs

  • poisonous snakes a so beautiful why do they have to be poisonous

  • @shiftedwhite They are not poisonous, they're venomous!

  • @viperkeeper What's the difference?

  • @shiftedwhite Venoms are injected, Poisons are ingested.

  • Wow, that strike was so fast I jumped...no bs...I really did...no wonder people get bit...they think the critter is not gonna move...then BAM!!! Bit...Thanks for not anthropomorphosizing them...

  • hey viperkeeper what is your most toxic and endangered list schlange you own? lg from german

  • @karotte1701 Common Brown, Taipan

  • The world's most beautiful serpent. I'm looking for good pictures / drawings for a tattoo.

Some one here who have seen any Gaboon tattoo??

  • B-eautiful!

  • I have such a high respect and admiration for these beauties. Thank you for the videos :) Nice to see some without shitty music/ignorance taking away from their magnificence.

  • wow snaged it real quick ! lol Well done gabby!

  • can yhou own these in california?

  • @Wolvve No, only native snakes depending on the city you live in....Soon you won't be able to keep a roach in CA.

  • @viperkeeper Well said...lol +1

  • @viperkeeper You can get a permit to own "hotties" in california right?

  • @EvolutionExotics Not likely

  • @Wolvve No

  • wow man thats crazy cant belive u have a gaboon and a puff adder...i would love to see them in the wild but not keep them lol

  • beutiful, what in your opinion is the most lethal snake venom / lethal snake?

  • @MrPnh1994 the one that just bit you

  • 0:57 ! That made me shit bricks! LOL

  • Seems like she wants to tel you "... stop shooting me".

I think she talks in its own language.

  • Al this may be off topic, but if you don't mind my asking, in your opinion what is the world's most endangered/rarest venomous snake?

  • @IsInTFbAwEsOmE Mangshang Viper, since the Chinese like to eat them....

  • @viperkeeper I just watched and was reading the comments, and saw what you said about the Mangshang. What an incredibly beautiful snake, one I have never seen before. Are there any captive breeding programs to maintain them if the Chinese are eating them all? Seems those guys like to eat all kinds of amazing animals without thought of replenishment. Lastly, do you have one?

  • @marketdemon Yes, plenty of breeding programs going on....

  • @viperkeeper that is fantastic. I found some of your other video on the Mangshang and I wish you a lot of luck in your breeding, I am amazed by these incredible animals and salute guys like you who not only care about and for them, but share them with us. While I would LOVE to see one of these for real, I think you get me about as close as I can get without wetting myself. Thanks Viperkeeper, I am now a big fan of your work. Keep it coming.

  • I hope that I don't sould dumb but is the first snake a Gaboon viper?

  • @lesemajasty Yes, West African Gaboon

  • @lesemajasty a question not asked is the only dumb one, thats how you learn ;) gaboon is my fav snake i have one tattooed in my jungle sleeve they are amazing!

  • these snakes have the longest fangs of all the old world vipers

  • why dont the snakes bite you?

  • @moomooandu Because I try hard not to give them a chance.

  • damn... the all bitis are sooo fast!!!!!!!!

  • Yes, snakes do eat meat from a freezer.

  • Al,

Big Bitis like Nasicornis and Gabonica etc are often called ''puff adders'', but what about the smaller species like Cornuta etc? are they too considered ''puff adders''??

  • Adder is a common name extended to viperids in general.

  • was the mice dead a long time ago ??

i wonder if the snakes eats piece of meat from a freezer..?

  • Yes, I have video of them doing that.

  • They do if you defrost it and make it relatively warm

  • Very impressive video, but this living with so many deadly snake is definatly not for me. I hope you think all the time about safety and don't trust them.

By the way - do you always feeding Gabby with mouse, rats, chicken ? -

    or is something else ??

    Be safe, Mister Viperkeeper.

  • Well, some children are not in season, so I just feed her the items from your list.

  • Mister Viperkeeper, very, very imperssive video. Definatly not for me - living with so many deadly snakes. I hope you don't trust them, even Gabby. By the way - you feeding Gabby with something else than rats, mouse and chicken ??? Have you any snakes from europe ??

On more time - cool video, but be safe man !!

  • Yes, I have Vipera ammodytes. They don't live in the house with me, they have a custom built facility on the property.

  • Man feeding that Gaboon by hand. CRAZY!!!! Your definatly very comfortable with your snakes or just insane. But great video either way.

  • I'm not using my hand that would be insane! I'm using the forceps.

  • Have you ever kept anything but venomous?

  • In the past but not currently.

  • Did you see his smile turn upside down when he said "smaller food items" ? xD

  • wow that shot at 6.57 whair gabby yawned was awsome. good videoing their al

  • Hi thar!

REaly i love your videos, much infos in there and much words and scenes for: take care of yourself with venomous snakes.

sorry my english isnt that good.

do u only have venomous snakes? or do you have some pythons or boas too?

  • I only keep venomous

  • What is your opinion on the horns, I mean what do they do and why do they have them

  • It allows them to communicate with their home world....

  • What do you mean communicate with their home world? Am I not understanding your sarcasm?

  • Did you not ask me for my opinion? Well I told you what I thought they were for...

  • LOL ok Im a little slow

  • im not sure where i heard this but is the Gaboon the fastest striking snake?

i have no idea but i heard that from somewhere. i might be mistaken tho.

  • i have a shotgun that will solve the dead rat eating problem ;) i could not sleep with that in my house be safe

  • omfg i shat myself when it took the mouse

  • why do you dead feed???what i mean is there vipers you cant get them more agressive as they are now so could you answear me please

  • Feeding live prey doesn't make a snake "more aggressive" necessarily - it just puts the snake at unnecessary risk from being hurt by a terrified rodent. Feeding dead prey is safer *for the snake* - and when you're talking about venomous species it's safer for the keeper too. Imagine trying to get a live frightened rat out of a cage with that Gaboon in feed mode....

  • Perfect :-)

Also, they cost more than F/T rodents

  • Well done ssthisto, correct :)

With 2" long fangs, I wouldn't like to be messing with a live rat in a hungry Gabby's cage...My arm isn't food...

Live food costs a lot more, plus Breeding is only during certain times of the year, and Pinkies take a while to be adults. F/T is also good as diseases are killed as theyre frozen enough to kill everything.

Al, a shedded fang is still hazardous right? As traces of venom may be still present...Please answer..TY!! :-)

  • One of my buddies had a snake killed by a rodent before. From what I heard, he just dropped the thing in the cage, left, and came back to an alive rodent and a snake that had been gnawed to his spine in one spot. :(

  • well the first thing ive learned was, if u feed live things, never leave em alone!

i fed live mice and rats to my ball pythons, but always stood there and watched that till its all done.

  • I don't have time to watch everyone with ~150 snakes to feed.

  • well yea, i guess thats another good point why feed dead hehe my answer was more ment for geffrod :-)

  • Viper's aren't agressive. They're just defencive.

Feeding vipers and many kinds of Boas and Pythons requires the food to be throughoughly heated to body temperature. This is because the snake has heat sencing pitts which detect heat, cold food will not stimulate a snake with these pitts to feed. This is why F/T is possible with Viperadae and Boadae species.

  • scares the crap out of me...

  • Lol. Me too

  • i just got a baby gaboon viper what is the best substrate to use for them

  • I use ZooMed "Reptil-Bark"

  • I really like the way you are with your snakes. :)

  • if that tooth puncured skin even out of her moutyh could you get invenemated

  • The chances are low but not zero.

  • Gods, I hope to have these same types of snakes when I grow older. Vipers are my favorite =D

  • what is the scientific name of this viper please

  • They are all in the genus 'Bitis'

    B. rhinooceros, B. arietans, B. nasicornis

  • gaboons are the coolest. i saw austin stevens jump into a river onto one on his show and just about shit my pants.

  • That was a set-up....he was in east africa but "found" a west african gaboon...

  • HAHAHA, nice1

love ur videos man, keep up the great work and be safe man

  • Not exactly sure but it's a while 15+yrs

  • nice snatch???

  • A professional weightlifting term ;-)

  • When I was little, my dad had a friend that housed rattlers as both pets and for milking. I used to play with them. The guy never really realized the danger, untell his best friend was bitten by one of his snakes.

be very careful while feeding them my friend, they are very unpredictable...

  • LOL could I order a fang from you? =P

  • i will give you 1 star becouse you give them dead food

  • lol?

  • Those three are beauties. I like Mr. Sniffles the best. Really nice coloring.

  • Damn that is soooo FAST ^^ :) But Nice very Nice

  • have you ever kept or keep any inland taipans?

  • Gabby's mouth muscle training is very funny. A snake seeing hungry and kind of begging for food, never have seen. - Thank's for these shots, Vperkeeper !

  • puffs are so pretty, gaboons are too, but sniffs is amazing

  • when gabby grab the rat i was frighten as fuck

  • Gabby always does a good impression of Jaws!

  • Lol, I jumped when Gabby snatched the rat. Jesus that scares me. Lol, I love snakes though.

  • Awesome snake! Large head fangs up to 2.5 inches I wonder if someone got bitten by it! Is the venom hemotoxic or neurotoxic?

  • Rhino vipers are my favorite hot.

  • ya they are some awsome snake ur really want me to get on but i cant

  • Every time I see Gabby, I am reminded of that Austin Stephens story...about how he was handling a Gaboon Viper once and it scratched his finger with one fang...and he said his hand burned for four days.

  • awesome snakes!

  • Hey Viperkeeper those Gaboon Vipers are amazing, How old are they?

  • Born in 2003

  • Two beautiful snakes!! is the second bitis nasciformis?

  • Yes, Bitis nasicornis/ River Jack or Rhino Viper

  • Mr. Sniffles and Gaby are my favourite :D Beautiful snakes!

  • Do you keep just venomous snakes or do you keep others like contrictors?

  • I just keep venomous..no constrictors.

  • what about the ball python? you had him in with someother snake..

  • Yeah...I forget I have him.....I also have a ekay's snake, Ribbon Snake, & Chain Kingsnake too...all are snakes food want-a-bees.

  • you know.. ive never seen a snakes eyes move, thats rather creepy and awsome at the same time

  • Gabby, when she has her mouth open looks likes shes smiling as if to say, yes i'm a happy snake!

  • i agree beautiful snakes would like to u feed them live food but i understand that can be dangeorus for the snake

  • man I love snakes, and you got some beautiful snakes, well taking care of.

  • wow great snake im from bosnia and i seen these a lot of times vipers very dangerous but man that snake hella buff some kind of speacial edition snake you got lol

  • ya snake are amazing 8)

  • oh my god...u sure do have some of the nicer snakes i've seen on youtube :) great job.

  • Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy them.

  • Gabby is a beaut, so is Puffy. And in excellent condition, I might add. Great video and gorgeous specimens. Nice job, Al!

  • Holy Cow!

  • these are two truly beautiful specimens. well done, sir.

  • Thank you :-)

  • those are beautiful, you must take really good care of them. i used to work at a reptile zoo and we had a puff adder and a gaboon and they were really cool, now i'v only got a leopard gecko too!

  • Why are the puff adders so thick and boofy? (Steve Irwins' term, may god rest his soul) What is the adaptive explanation of that, or are they just real muscular? I mean, puffles is thick. Is it possible that gabby and mister sniffles recognize or "imprint" (if you will) on a certain vibration or tenor to your voice?

thanks again for the great videos

  • That's the basic body build of the Genus but she is ALL muscle and exceptionally strong. My animals all recognize me somehow because they act differently than if a stranger was present. I bet it's a combination of visual imprint and chemosenses (taste). Which I've learned is like a gas chromatagraph.

  • this video is awsome. you really love and care for your snakes and the way they repsond i think they love u too.very nice snakes

  • These snakes seem to respond to your voice. They seem to have a liking towards you a lot.

They're so cute. They look like sock puppets!

  • dude it freaks me out to see that aquarium or that box of glass open ...please be carefull !

  • Thanks for your concern, however, I have not found a way to get the rat through the glass when the cage (not aquarium)door is closed.

    Al

  • Thanks for your concern. However, I have not found a way to feed & care for the snakes without opening the cage door.

  • Wow! Hots are awesome! But until I am older I will stick with my leopard gecko lol. Congratulations on keeping such goregeuos snakes I admire every aspect of the care of your snakes. Awesome!

  • Thanks...keep tuned for more videos

    Al

  • certainly will do. I adore these snakes and the conditions they are kept in absolutely brilliant

  • Ahh. I remember the first time I saw a GV many years ago on a nature program (Wild Kingdom?). I was like woah--amazing. Be careful with these guys (I know you are). A bite can't make for a good day. Best of luck to you.

  • Thanks,

Marlin Perkins...of Wild Kingdom was bitten by a Gabby..back when there was no A/V...very very nearly killed him.

  • Wow! These vipers are the coolest snakes on the planet. Question, though: is this one actually a pet? Is this in a zoo? I gotta admire the sack on somebody who would keep one of these monsters as a pet.

  • LOL....That's been said about me before. Just one species of the 37 I keep at MY serpentarium...not a public Zoo.

    Al

  • oh right ok, they are really cool snakes. when i am older i hope to keep one

  • I heard there fangs can be up to 3inches long

  • No, the record is 2 inches in a 6 foot specimen

  • Thanks for sharing your snakes. I look forward to seeing more of your videos, very informative for someone who wants to keep hots in the future. I've always wanted to use shed fangs as jewelry too, I want to wear two in my lip, I've just got to find some that are relatively small haha.

  • I´m sure no one, snake or human , would mess with a king cobra on guard. How common is none-hostile voluntary man-snake interaction. Is there anything similar to headbobbing in other genus than bitis? Thanks for replying, I really appreciate it /Dan

  • Dan: As I said my Bitis caudalis does something simular but that's the only one that I can think of doing a headbob.

    Al

  • Mr Sniffles seems very eager to "communicate" can this be interpreted as a sign of intellegence? What does research say about intellegence in the genus Bitis. Thanks for another great video. /Dan

  • Dan:

This is not uncommon with this species but
