Who would die with just 200 feet fall and hitting the ground at speed like 200 miles an hour. I don't think anyone can die in a small accident like that. When I saw him fall I couldn't believe that he wasn't wired for safety. A lot of people thought it was part of show and it was fake. I think that the air show should not allow these dangerous stunts without safety wiring. They were criticized for not stoping the show.

Speaking as some sort of safety expert; if I had seen this act SUCCESSFULLY performed on Saturday I would still have shut this act down and forbidden it from taking place not only the next day but FOREVER AFTERWARDS!!! Yet, people would have undoubtably thought I was being "too strict"! So, what occurs in the future? Should wing walking be banned? I think so. Or, if allowed to continue, only when using safety lines.

I grew up in Harrison Township and watched Selfridge practice daily, right above my house, before every air show. God, those planes are loud!

As Selfridge is a military base, I also saw them practicing drops in Lake St. Clair. I always wondered what was inside of those huge bundles they would drop from various planes. I never saw them retreived...

@mikemaj82 It is not about the difficulty of the stunt. It is about what happens when you slip as there are no backup safety. So, while it may appear as relative difficulty of a monkey bar, the penalty for failed stunt is not a fracture but death. So it is more about brass balls.

Hm, how do people convince themselves to do such an extreme risk? People stand and know the chance he'll kill him self in the stunt is large.
