I recently picked up a PF9, and I have a major issue with it. The magazine release button. When I first got it, I would only hit the button a few times out of 150 rounds. But now, EVERY SINGLE TIME i fire the damn weapon, my thumb hits the release button and out pops the mag. It is driving me insane. Do you not have this issue? I would love to carry this firearm, but obviously that would currently be a bad idea. Any recommendations?
I dont get why everyone complains about it being "snappy" I have no issues with control or "snappiness" with my PF 9. Recently put 200 rds. through it during one range trip, no discomfort what so ever. Soo I guess what Im saying is......Dont Be A Pussy!!!! ;o)
I love how you say its a gun you would want to carry but not want to use at the range, and you just pull it out and it goes boom. Probably want to practice with the gun you carry.
Any problems with the gun? I have a P3at and it jams like crazy. I heard these have issues, and the mag drops out during firing...have you had any problems with the mag coming out?

A super-bright flashlight is the first option when your approached (at night) by a suspicious person who is not yet an obvious threat to you. Light him up and you can see whats in his hand, partially blind him, and just let him know you are prepared to engage him and your not just another easy mark. Also, you dont break any laws by pulling out a flashlight. Pulling a knife or a gun gets you into trouble so thats not an option.
@OneSecure couldnt agree more. i ALWAYS have a little penlight on me, in my car, and at home on my desk. at our local Walfare, you can pick up one (with batteries) for like $3. well worth spending the $10 to have a couple laying around and on person.
The PF-9 is a great carry piece, and has been my EDC weapon for more than a year now, replacing a very trusty Bersa Thunder .380. However, the PF-9 is not "second-strike" capable. That term refers to the ability to cycle the hammer and firing mechanism again in the event of a misfire. The hammer is reset by the action of the slide; if the round doesn't fire, the slide does not cycle and the mechanism is not reset. In the event of a misfire, one must manually rack the slide to fire the weapon.
hey man im also cross eye dominant, no im not cross eyed, just my left eye is dominant and i shoot right handed, I have had to adjust a little as my eye dominance changed in my teens. Not fun but with practice ive become a decent shot.
California Gun Laws are Unconstitutional. California is a Socialist State in which it's so called government does not trust and has a distain for it's law abiding citizenry.
@bigstabby Perhaps not pure socialism, however, a government which distrusts it's law abiding citizens and places unconstitutional restrictions upon them is at least one aspect of your state and socialism. @MrBigden37 "Unconstitutional restrictions" have nothing to do with socialism. Socialism just an economic platform. The governmental platform, of which socialism is most associated with is Communism. Now if you said Commifornia, I'd be inclined to agree. Also, I'm not from California (thank fuck). All my family is though (sucks for them lol). I live in Kentucky/Tennesse and believe me, I agree with your disdain for Cali. They're not part of this country in my eyes, excluding many of it's people.
Regarding the sights, you might want to try applying fluorescent paint/nail polish over the default white paint. It really makes them easier to see in my opinion. @duncan32244 - The Kel-Tec has a break in period of several hundred rounds so I do not doubt you had a FTF right out of the box. Most Kel-Tec owners know about the "fluf & Buff" routine and perform this right off the bat. I have had 1 FTF in 400 rnds (which I believe I can attribute to a limp wrist) I carry this gun every day (so I do trust my life to it) It's not a range gun, nor fun to shoot. Do the F&B, break it in w/ several hundred rnds, carry it.
gun laws in cali...thats why i would never live in that screwed up state..here in tennessee i can buy whatever i want and how many i want and it usually takes about a 5 minute background check....god i love my state
@Mr1bigsexy same here in utah for easy buying. fuck california lawmaking morons. all these silly restrictions on law-abiding, responsible gun owners benefits NOBODY. Ain't gonna stop a thug from getting what he wants. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Utah CCP are recognized in 30 states, but NOT california cause of all their ridiculous bs laws.
@shootcentermass . Hell no. Read all the problems on thier products. I just brought a pf9 and the thing FTF right out the box. I called their customer service and I have to admit they were helpful but the young lady did admit that she gets a lot of service calls. Don't believe me just do a internet search. I really wanted this pistol to work out but I knew going in that the gun had man prior issues. Good buying this gun
@smuger357 what do you mean by second strike capable? As a home defense option? Sure. Or target pistol? I wouldn't recommend it. The gun is too light and snappy to shoot more than 50 rounds at any one time.
@rasprotection He means if the firing pin strikes the cartridge (misfire), will another trigger pull strike that cartridge a second time (without racking the slide). BTW I've shot mine only 50 rounds with no misfire but it seems not to be able to have second strike capabilities.
@rasprotection I have learned what this means since you posted, yes the pistol is second strike capable... the hammer is thrown with every DAO pull of the trigger...
@rasprotection Correction: The PF9 does NOT have second-strike capability, as it's a sorta-kinda DAO. If it falls on a dud primer or you dry-fire on a snap cap, you must pull the slide back about 1/4" or so to reset the trigger bar. The Kel-Tec P11, however, DOES have second-strike and has a TRUE DAO trigger - no slide action necessary, just pull the trigger again. This makes the P11 a little nicer for practice with snap caps, but they're both good little pistols.
@yb2normal WRONG. The pf9 has a free floating hammer spring, and is never COCKED. You cannot "cock" the PF9 at all. Repeat YOU CAN NOT FULLY COCK THE PF9. It is DAO meaning pulling the trigger is the only way to reach a fully cocked position. What they meant by second strike capable has nothing to do with a Failure to Feed. Second strike capable means if you have a round that fails to fire you are able to pull the trigger again striking the primer a second time, Hence the term.
@JuniorInEville24 When I said the hammer must be recocked I really meant the slide must be racked in order to even be able to pull the trigger again. And I intended for FTF to imply "Failure To Fire" but realize FTF is short for Failure to Feed... which I did not mean to say. My main point was that the PF9 is NOT second strike capable.
@yb2normal Ahhhhh, ok that makes sense, and is correct as well. The PF9 is NOT second strike capable. The trigger bar does not fully reset until the slide is back. However this is not true for all the Kel Tec pistols. The P11 IS second strike capable which may be where the confusion came from. btw Love mine too. peace
@smuger357 no it is not like the slim 709. if you have ever shot a slim, the double strike feature is just that, personally i do not like the second strike. hope this helps
@smuger357 - The Kel Tec PF-9 is not second strike capable. And smuger357 Second strike means if you pull the trigger and the gun does not go BOOM, you can just pull the trigger again without any other manipulation and the hammer/firing pin will strike a second time to attempt to fire the same round again. The PF-9 you must rack the slide slightly to put the hammer back into it's reset posistion to try again. That's why the 9 has a lighter trigger then the P11, a true Double Action Only.
@smuger357 - The P-11 the Slide does not touch the hammer to re set it. A lot of people hate the long heavy trigger on the double action only P11 because of this. So when they designed the slim PF9 they made the trigger work like their small guns where the slide pushed the hammer to half cocked position to make the trigger a lot lighter. I prefer the long heavy trigger if I'm carrying with a round in the chamber, so the P-11 was my choice. I'm 290 pounds, the extra 1/8 inch no prob for me.
@smuger357 the slide needs to be racked again to fire, it's a DA only but does not have the second strike ability, need to tap rack if it doesn't go boom. but for a ccw gun i love mine though it feels cheap as hell it always go bang.
Yo good video. I'm from new jersey and I thought this was a hastle to but a hand gun.... But you can legally ccw and in nj if your not law enforcement it's forget about it...
@BDBakaJR nah, the grey frame was sold along with the pistol. Kel-tec actually calls it the "grip" because the serial number is attached to the internals of the gun. Go to the Kel tec web site and for 30 bucks you can buy a new grip... This is how I replaced mine to the od color.
hey if you want to ill trade you a flat bottom mag for one of your mags w/ the pinky extender, or if you just want to trade the little flat piece for the pinky extender im willing to do that as well if you want to pull one off. LMK
@VWDiMattia Actually Mattia, I sold the PF-9 about a month ago... Nothing wrong with it... I just decided to get something even more compact in the Kahr P380. Sorry, thanks for the offer.
I have never regretted getting rid of a handgun more than selling my PF9. My breakin period was terrible (12 malfunctions of 50), and I didn't use the gun again for 6 months. However, on a whim, I picked it back up, and using the same ammo, never had another malfunction in 1100 rounds of shooting.
This gun earned my respect, and I dearly regret selling mine. I will be rebuying it, as it's earned the same love as any glock or xd I own. NEVER SELL THIS
@NinjaGirlRachel Thanks for the praises... do you also live the great Republic of CA? I actually did sell my PF-9 in order to feel less guilty for paying so much money for a Kahr P380 Blackened SS. I am sure you'd have my back with the Kel-tec if anything popped off.
@rasprotection you're very welcome! No, I live in the gun-crazed beloved Texas lol. Those Kahr P380's are magnificent little guys too, and so damned slim!!
And you better believe I've got your back babe!! hahaha<3
I understand the need of potection, but a country in which their citizens need to carry guns everyday is not a good country. In Europe nobody carry fireguns and nobody is worried about violence
@newhuskytwenty At least for me... the question is not good society/bad society, it is about personal liberty. I believe that everybody has the inherent right to protect themselves how they see fit. Gun Control in America has stripped people's right to self protection and stigmatized gun ownership simultaneously. I can't speak internationally, but nationally, crime has gone down in areas with "Shall issue" concealed carry laws.
@rasprotection In a country full of guns a citizen must have guns to be protected, Where it's hard to find a criminal with a firegun in his hands, that need almost dissapear. I live in the very North of Spain and also have a studio in the south of France, Basq coast. Nobody has seen a thief or murder with a firegun. ETA terrorism is a thrill only for politics a policemen
@newhuskytwenty I'm not sure where in Europe you live, but in the 7 countries I lived in Europe, violent crime was as prominent as anywhere in the US. That's fairy tale talk you're selling if you honestly believe what you wrote here.
@NinjaGirlRachel maybe, I believe you, have you lived in Paris, London and so on...? Try to live in a quiet village in the French Basq Coast or in a Spanish city as San Sebastian. Over here violence is a matter of newspapers. Nobody has guns except policemen and some -out of date- terrorists from ETA
@newhuskytwenty Guns don't have to be kept just for fear of violence by criminals. Natural disasters, biological warfare and other situations that create a world without law necessitate the need for self-protection; it doesn't matter where you live, situations like these don't know the difference between a rich or poor neighborhood. A man should protect whats his; I'm not into machismo BS but I am ready to defend my family, my girl, my dog, and my property whenever it becomes necessary.
@newhuskytwenty so now it's not Europe in general, you're saying it's quiet villages. Well, glad you specified that. For a second there, I could have sworn you tried to say that ALL OF EUROPE WAS UTOPIAN AND DEVOID OF VIOLENT CRIME lol.
However, you did just mention London as being violent crime free. That's just stupidity. Since 2002, London saw more violent crimes than New York annually, and this rate has not so much as dwindled.
@NinjaGirlRachel Just the opposite, I wrote or at least tried to explain in a foreign language that if you have lived in Paris or/and London, big cities and specifically big cities, crimes can be rather frequent, but only there.
@newhuskytwenty Crime is not that frequent in the U.S.--especially in the country. People carry guns here not because it is that likely that they will be attacked, robbed, etc.--but because, were something like that to happen, they'd be utterly screwed without a way to defend themselves. It's a "better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it" kind of thing. You're not necessarily pulling your gun out every day just because you carry it.
@gumarro72 There are thousands of people in California who are otherwise law-abiding who carry a weapon to protect themselves and loved ones for no other reason than their local Sheriff or Chief does not follow the law himself.

And you better believe I've got your back babe!! hahaha<3

@NinjaGirlRachel I'm sorry, but I see this a lot on message boards <3... what does it mean? Please enlighten me oh NinjaGirlRachel.

I understand the need of potection, but a country in which their citizens need to carry guns everyday is not a good country. In Europe nobody carry fireguns and nobody is worried about violence
newhuskytwenty 1 year ago

ETA terrorism is a thrill only for politics a policemen
newhuskytwenty 1 year ago
@newhuskytwenty Incorrect statement. There are plenty of people concerned about violence in Europe. Check your facts before you speak.

@newhuskytwenty I'm not sure where in Europe you live, but in the 7 countries I lived in Europe, violent crime was as prominent as anywhere in the US. That's fairy tale talk you're selling if you honestly believe what you wrote here.
NinjaGirlRachel 1 year ago
@NinjaGirlRachel maybe, I believe you, have you lived in Paris, London and so on...? Try to live in a quiet village in the French Basq Coast or in a Spanish city as San Sebastian. Over here violence is a matter of newspapers. Nobody has guns except policemen and some -out of date- terrorists from ETA
newhuskytwenty 1 year ago

(google it.)
You have no clue what you're talking about.
NinjaGirlRachel 1 year ago
@NinjaGirlRachel Just the opposite, I wrote or at least tried to explain in a foreign language that if you have lived in Paris or/and London, big cities and specifically big cities, crimes can be rather frequent, but only there.
newhuskytwenty 1 year ago
@newhuskytwenty Crime is not that frequent in the U.S.--especially in the country. People carry guns here not because it is that likely that they will be attacked, robbed, etc.--but because, were something like that to happen, they'd be utterly screwed without a way to defend themselves. It's a "better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it" kind of thing. You're not necessarily pulling your gun out every day just because you carry it.

So many stupid laws. Yet the criminals always get around them.
gumarro72 1 year ago
@gumarro72 There are thousands of people in California who are otherwise law-abiding who carry a weapon to protect themselves and loved ones for no other reason than their local Sheriff or Chief does not follow the law himself.
