The lyrics are an ode to the area's natural beauty and sense of home: Mull of Kintyre Oh mist rolling in from the sea, My desire is always to be here Oh Mull of Kintyre
McCartney explained how the song came into being: I certainly loved Scotland enough, so I came up with a song about where we were living; an area called Mull of Kintyre. It was a love song really, about how I enjoyed being there and imagining I was travelling away and wanting to get back there.[1]
So beautiful! What you all shared makes it even more so. I love the bagpipes also and lost my father earlier this year. He was Scottish and loved the bagpipes. It's one of my favorites as well.
this brings back memories of my grandfather who passed away in 2006...he and my grandmother both loved this song so much and it brings a smile to my face everytime i hear it because i think of them and i think of the good times when they were alive...
I saw this at the L.A. Beatlefest, maybe 1978? Anyways, I decided right then and there that this was my favorite song of all time.A bold statement for a 12 year old. Still holds true. Great song.
This is by far the most amazing song ever made. The bagpipes are a WAY underestimated, and very UNDER appreciated musical instrument. I cries the entire length of this video.
One of my favourite tunes from Sir Paul...especially when the bagpipes kick in. Beautiful piece of music.

Not a bad song, but nowhere near as good as the original version, "Mull of Timperley" by Frank Sidebottom...
