agreed, i never could work out why catherine wheel werent up there with ride, sugar and boo radleys etal., as there production was pretty sharp as was there 'black metallic' record from memory. see, drugs dont totally wreck yr memory. i played their stuff on radio and indi clubs whenever possible..also from memory!hehe.
AHHHWESOME Chatherine Wheel!!! Glad I found it. As good as Husker Du. Will rock out to both!! Whenever WB and Youtube lets people post Husker Dus' original version again.
Fantastic cover that equals the Husker Du original. Catherine Wheel are another band that should have been massive if the listening public had even a remote bit of musical taste!
@patronchouflards -It was from an Austin, TX radio station. I have looked and looked, but without success. It is, bar none, thee greatest version of this song. I was hoping to find it here on YT, but oh well. The search continues...
@carlos7217 that IS scott walker on the cover. Nice eye! They released that CD/LP EP as a happy new year gift to their fan club. In addition to "DWTKIYAL" they cover 30th Century man (the EP is even called the 30th Century man EP), and also has a great original "Free of Mind." I have the vinyl... GREAT stuff!
Masters... simply masters... why not propose Catherine Wheels tracks for a movie soundtrack or something. Sound fine for a cars action movie. Finally "Black Metallic" is inspirated in a car. Will be great to see it in a film.
Squee! This is like peanut butter and choclate, together at last!

Not too bad. They did the Huskers justice. Green Day covered it too. They both did a good job.

There's a great acoustic cover from around 1990 - used to be played on Swiss radio - but I cannot find by who - does anyone know?

Miles better than the Green Day cover.
I think the music arrangement is really fantastic, but I don't think Rob Dickinson's voice is the best match for the song.

LOL RIPmyers, this song is by Grant Hart, not Bob Mould! What kind of Huskers fan are you? :-)

Rob D's voice has a certain manic urgency that fits this tune perfectly. Good lads, and great music!
