can i suggest a method wen hunting for foxes rabbits and other game. if u want a clean shot because ur target is mnoving just yelll out stop or make a random noise which attracts the animals attention
believe me it works so good im now takin down foxes with a 22 from round 200 m
I havent seen any rules about posting videos, if there not allowed on here, youtube wont broadcast it. And whats it to you to say what you can and cant post?
awsome video! I was wondering about re-loading, and how semi-autos handel the cartrage after 2 3 and so on shots. Also I am proud to say that I killed my first fox recently, I was verry lucky he poped out right in front of me about 18 yards and I dropped him verry well with a 20 gauage shotgun with #3 buck!
Well done mate! I was so excited when i got my first( had to edit the vid coz i sounded like a fool). In Australia semi auto's were banned about 10 years back due to a massacre. I have never shot a semi auto so i cant help you out. I know foxes are a bit hard to come by in the US, so again well done. Im sure you'll get a few more!!!
everyone knows if you shoot an animal chances are the nerves are still going to make the bastard move, good vid man, and why shoot it twice and make the pelt look like shit, the last thing you want to look at is a ton of little holes in it, good kill, good size fox, keep it up.
Honestly i hope the put the fox out of his misery. Please dont take my tree hugger, not against hunting but if you shoot an animal you should at least put it down swiftly as possible.
Do you suggest that I should have slit its throat, or stab its heart. Maybe another blast to the head or heart would kill it instantly!! I doubt it! Do you suggest that I inflict more pain on the animal to kill it 1 or 2 seconds quicker than what it did! If a follow up shot is required, i have no hesitation, but in this case it wasn't needed. GO SAVE THE BUGS THAT SPLATTER ON THE WINDSHIELD OF YOUR CAR EVERY NIGHT!!!!!!!
maybe wait until he stops still and give him one to the head ouick and fast.instead of shooting him while he's moving.maybe your just trigger happy butcher anything that moves.
If you realise where he had came from as stated in the video where I first spotted him, he had trotted approx. 800meters and went straight downwind of us. He was seconds off smelling us so the oportunity had to be taken! Head shots offer little margin for error, heart/lung shots give the same results with more margin for error. Gotta love you hypocrites who know it all.
Provided they are well placed shots, ive not had any problem with them. Accuracy at a distance can be compromised though. .22WMR are quite and good for pelts. .223 is my preferred calibre for foxes but a little noisy. Most foxes i see are out too far for 22wmr, so a lot do get away. Generally i'll only shoot if im sure ill hit it where i want. My other rifle is a 30/06 which is well and truly overkill. These 2 rifles cover a good range of hunts in Australia.
Yeah, I've never hunted furbearers and it looks like a real challenge to have enough gun for a clean kill AND not ruin the pelt. I wonder if a downloaded soft point .243 (which would go right through the fox without "exploding") might make a good load. Too bad I can't send you handloads to test. :)
Just buying the gear to start reloading myself. No experience yet with reloads, but give me a couple of weeks. Not sure of the ammo we used with the 243( I think Winchester Super X ). My friend has started reloading his 308 and I see the benifits!!! Soon i'll have sub M.O.A.!!!!
I think you'll really enjoy it. Reloading is a really interesting hobby. It's a great way to learn a tremendous amount about ballistics and bullet performance.
i have shot fox with the hornet at 80yrd dead in the heart and it still got 25yrd,also 185yrd 22.250 disembowled it it went 15yrd before dropping, all with exspanding ammo,
i shot a fox on tuesday, me and my dad were spotlighting on a lamb property and the dirty fuck was out eating the afterbirth, he ran away and then came back out so i gave him an 80 meter shoulder shot with my .222
Merc that fox wouldnt have known what the fuck was goin on, it would have been so pumped that it wouldnt have felt the shot and then it would have dropped dead
Try practise ur shooting before u go hunting, that fox must have been in agony u had a clear head shot, how did you miss!! Im all for fox hunting but dont put them through pain like blowing there leg off and not putting it out of its missary!!!!
Settle down there cowboy!!! I find a heart/lung shot at that distance puts most things down within 30sec!!! Unlike a missed head shot that can blow a foxes snout clean off and leave the fox with a very slow painfull death! Then again, im sure your an expert shooter and can head shot all animals at every distance, you silly fuck, wake up!!!
Im no expert shooter but look how fuckin close that fox was to you, hardly like it was miles away!! Its ok that you cant shoot! Just next time give the gun to someone who can! Prick!
Position yourself away from the whistler close to where you keep seeing him, Get the whistler to try draw most of the foxes attention, as you can hopefully get a shot off or sneak in a little closer. A dead bunny might draw him in a little closer? Try spotlighting, might get him off guard if no hunting pressure is in the area. My fingers are crossed for ya!!!
thanks for that, we havent seen him from whistling for a while we just keep runing into him while spotlighting rabbits, he can run fast. they dont come as much in breeding time do they? whats the best fox hunting dvd you've seen?
hey dan great vid.. can zyou give me some tips, me and my dad have been chasing this fox on a property we go to for weeks now and hes given us the slip 5 times, would spotlighting be better or day time in full camo? thanks.
Thanks David for your suggestions, just wondering how prolific the foxes are in the UK? Here they are in plague proportions, That still does not mean i get as many as i would like!
I only started propaly shooting foxes this year because I only just took on about 500 acres as a pest controller and in 4 nights I shot 71 foxes and traped 13, and now there is hardly any in my area.
Hard to find good and willing property owners around here, so a lot of my hunting is in state forest. I have seen about 15 odd in a good day or nights hunt but only get close to a few! If only I had a 500 property!!!! Well done, you do a lot better than me!!
Shut up dude we can shoot what ever the hell we want to. So shut up you little activist and sweet movie by the way I plan on filming coyote videos of mine and my brothers. Also go check out our praire dog shooting videos our name is yes funny but IGAPimp so go check it out we shot them with .223 rem
Im sorry if the shot was placed about an inch of a heart shot, but this fox did not suffer!!! He did not know what hit him and he just ran due to instinct to flee whatever had got him. He passed away just below the small mount you see. He caused more suffering to our native animals than i did to him. If i could die in such the same way, i would be thankful!!!!
Thnx for the info. There was a break in the tape and I couldn't see how far the fox ran. I understand animals can sometimes run pretty well even with a heart shot. Just speaking personally, I'd prefer to use a centerfire if I could.
Actually dogs would kill a fox in seconds. If I were a fox, I would pick dogs over being sniped at with at .22 WMR any day of the week. And I don't think the fox cares how it looks after it's dead.
Whatever rifle i have in my hand at that time. .22wmr,243,308,30-06 are the assortment of rifles my friend and i own at present. Many different calls available, Again tenterfield being my favourite.
So where is this? I know the fox whistle is an Aussie thing.. is that a 17hmr or a 22mag? I actually have a fox whistle compliments of a guy named Andre.. Ever seen the movie Whistling with Foxes?
There's a few calls around, there's commercial preditor calls, "tin rabbit", tenterfield and recycled shotgun brass to whistle. Checkout ebay. The tenterfield is the best in my exp

That fox was still alive. Blew his leg off and then let him lie there while you take photos-- still alive? Giving hunting a bad name!

I'm not criticising your shooting skill. I've learned a lot from your videos.
Just speaking as a shooter and ammo nut, I think the .22WMR is underpowered for something fox sized.

My mate owns the 243 and i do agree they are very versatile, just too noisy for my liking. Not great for pelts as seen in the other video.

hi mate
All the foxes that I have shot this year have been during the day, or just before it gets dark.
most of them go on the same track every day so if you waite then he or she will come.
I try to use 3-4 bales of hay in front of me and that really helps.
good hunting
