  • what an amazing little supercomputer he built, complete switches, graphics?? and lots of flashing lights

  • Hey now, Matthew Laborateux looks like Harry Potter... he really does, ain't that something!^_^

  • Matthew is cuuuuuuute!!

  • I used to watch this as a kid! I loved it especially 'cause I had a crush on Matthew Laborateux. I also liked him as Albert on 'Little House on the Prairie". Thanks for sharing.

  • Riche probably ended up either working for Microsoft or Apple.

  • omg does this video bring back memories!! That was a great show, and Simon & Simon was another one too.

  • Great, I am a whizzkid

  • The Whiz Kids were on Simon and Simon...they helped Rick and AJ fight crime. Loved both shows. :)

  • Matthew Laborteaux can be my boyfriend anytime!!!!

  • Oh my god I remember this as a kid, just wish my commodore 64 could have done as much

  • in Mexico these serie was called:

"Los Chicos Computalizados" (the computalized kids).

  • @javisman Yeah, because in Mexico, "whiz kids" literally means kids pissing by the tree or by the car on blocks. And you can't have a show called " El Whiz Pendejos" with an opening script, "ah ching gaou, Mija look, pendejo whizzed on my lawn again, sucio pedro." That's just not going to work.

  • this is beyond classic....actually at the point where playing D&D meant worshiping Satan lol

  • Cheeszy whiz kids.

  • Mozart's piano concerto #21. Always loved this intro but never knew it was Mozart. One wild day I bought my first classical cd at Best Buy for $1.99. Just a shot in the dark piano concerto. I put it in my cd player and fell in love with Mozart. It was concerto number 21. The year was 1991.

  • 0:50 Tempest?

  • this show inspired me and my cousin to start a club called the Whiz Kids. We had plans on hacking the worlds computer systems using our Commander 64 and solve mysterious...lol...loved it...GREAT TIMES...

  • GREAT TIMES, GREAT MEMORIES... I loved this series. Good old 80's

  • bebobebobeeebobebedubdubdebedebwlybebobebobebobeebboodooweeebebeboobedoobebebobobe

  • Mozart and he's already dead.

  • Awesome!!!

    Im flashbackin today!!!!

  • I used to 'listen' to this show as i was on my paper route at the time the show was on (sat @ 5.45pm) loved it and the tech (wich was pretty good for then!)

  • I remember watching this as a kid...this show looks so dated by todays standards, but back then it was the future!!!

  • pretty lame show

  • i cant believe i was hooked on this show back then. now you have a pc in the house mostly to surf the net and watch youtube old tv shows. i love innovation

  • Mira en esa serie empezo la pendeja de ALF

  • that's a long butt theme song...

  • The opening theme was a lot longer than I remembered. You couldn't get away with a 90 second theme today.

  • I LOVE that electronic musicTOTALLY .BITCHIN'!!!!

  • In Finland this show was known as "Tietokonejengi", which translates as "The Computer Gang".

  • andrea elson was hot

  • great show!

  • I dont remember this show at all. I just remember the title..

  • Well just so you all know:

Max Gail is best known for his role in Barney Miller

    and after Whiz Kids

A Martinez went on to star in L.A. LAW

Andrea Elson went on to star in ALF on NBC

and Whiz Kids is from the producer of Simon & Simon

Simon & Simon and its sister show Whiz Kids are now in the hands of NBC-Universal Television.

  • @tnawcwvictoria Matthew Laborteaux, prior to Whiz Kids was on Little House on the Prarie as Albert Quinn Ingalls.

  • I loved this TV programs !!

I watched them in Japan about 25 years ago.

  • I went there just now. It is great!!

Thank you very much for teaching that.

  • Really? How do I find it? Is it a site on the internet?

  • I thought id dreamt this show as none of my friends remembered it. So I thought Id check YouTube. Low and behold there it is. I can not believe how shit it is. I used to love this show. It was Saturday night main TV. It makes an abacus look futuristic!!

  • This actually crossed over with Simon and Simon once, didn't nothing to keep it on air.

  • this is a lot shittier than i remembered.

  • END OF FILE

  • No.

    It's mint.

    I spit on you.

  • I had a huge crush on Matthew when I was a kid, and he was a year younger than I. I loved that show. Thanks for posting this.

  • Here's the funny thing: In 1983 all that gear in his bedroom would have been pretty dang expensive. After all, an Apple III cost between $4500 and $8000 in 1980. That's between $11,000 and $20,000 in today's dollars!!! Where the heck does this kid get that kind of money?!?!

  • WTF are you talking about? MSRP on the IIe was $2,950 and on the IIc was $2,200 and on the III was $3,200. The IBM 5150 series (w/ 256K of ram and 2 full height 5.25" floppies and RGB/CGA) was $5,200

  • @roystonlodge

IIRC, Richie's father was away on business all the time, he worked in the oil industry.

  • jaja We can do much better than that right now from a laptop and wifi....jajaja The times...

  • Did Wendy Carlos do the theme? It reminds me of how she did "switched on Bach".

  • Believe it or not, this was a spinoff of Simon and Simon. Laborteaux was jacking ATMs using his Wiz Kid skillz.

  • Boy do I ever remember this show! As a little kid I just wished I had all the neat computer gadgets Richie had! I remember drawing pictures of the kids from Whiz Kids riding their BMX bikes. They took so many liberties with the technology that existed back then, like giving the computer a personality. Though this show made it all seem possible. Though honestly, who would actually name their dog 'Rabies'?

  • I remember this show I think I couldn't stand the opening music so I wouldn't even watch it. I was wierd as a kid

  • Was Max Gail WoJo from Barney Miller?

  • Yes, he was :o)

  • Thanks a lot... memories.

  • I loved this show, did not like that a martiniz, he played such a cocky type of cop on the show, hmm wonder if richie was using DIAL UP MODEM??

  • I used to love this show, but, my goodness, that theme song just destroyed my ear drums.

  • Can you imagine going back in time to tell Richie all about the Web, quad core chips, 4GL languages etc?

    "Wow!"

  • LOL my god in heaven. It would have blown the minds of 80s peoples...think what we will be amazed at in 25 years though

  • i have the full 18 episodes converted onto dvd not the best picture but still ok

  • ah...memories!I watched this series in Malaysia.

  • Hey, that's the funny black kid from "Wholly Moses." "What shall the password be, my Pharaoh?" ---"POO-POO!"

  • excelente show, era uno de los mejores, este introdujo a muchos la mundo de la computacion junto a automan en los 80s, espero lo repitan, salu2

  • OMG...de ja vu!!

  • Eeek, man i feel old!

  • I use to watch this show!

  • that kid had about $60,000 worth of equipment in his bedroom.

  • was that including the comodore64 or not ?

  • no the comodore 64 was only $350.

  • I have it on DVD - The whole season but it is not a good recording at all. It was converted from an old VHS tape but nevertheless I have it on DVD!

  • What a great show that was! I'm wondering if it's on DVD yet.

  • Wow, all my friends said I made up the fact that the prog existed. And it does!!!

  • Little Cheryl Adler (Melanie Gaffin)is so cute.

  • My sister and I loved this show, we watched every episode. I was always frustrated by, and couldn't understand, the fact that my dad's TRS80 couldn't do all the cool stuff in the show. Computers are awesome...

  • man i miss the 80's! geez Im over here crying..

  • Actress Andrea Elson as Alice is such A Beautiful Girl!

  • Wow!.. ¡Qué recuerdos me trae este programa! Tanto éste, como el auto increible (Knight Rider) me dejaron gran marca. Siempre quise ser un "Chico computarizado". Hoy soy ingeniero en sistema computacionales. ;-)

  • I had the right 'ump when I was a nipper watching this because my folks could not afford me a computer.

  • Whatever happened to A Martinez?

  • Well I'm old. Kill me.

  • It's funny, I don't remember this show at all. But I remember the "kid from Little House on the Prairie" wearing glasses and right away I thought "Andrea" I don't know why! So I must have seen it. But I'm drawing a blank. Thanks for posting!

  • I used to love this when i was a kid in 84 or 85. Made me hassle my parents for a Commodore 64. Used to love the synthesized voice that used to say ' HELLO RITCHIE ' LOL

  • lmao jajaj back in those days we called kids who were on computeres all day and night!!!NERDS) WEIRDOS'''4 eyes,,,,jaja ,,,upsssss, i just realize something i do now ! .....we all became what we use to hate in school!!!!! NEEEERRRDDDDDDSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

  • We've just evolved...and if you watch Battlestar Galactica, you'll see what we will become: Cylons!

Isn't this tall blonde a computer expert / nerd? Didn't she fell in love for the biggest computer nerds of the twelve colonies - Dr. Baltar?

  • I used to love this show, still crazy about the theme song, and always wanted to look like Ritchie... I love how smug he looks checking out all his l33t gear spread out on the table :D

  • Yeah, I remember recording this when I was about 12 'cos I thought it was such a cool theme tune. Imagine my surprise when, years later, I was experimenting with classical music that I discovered it was by Mozart!!! Obvious really though when you think about it. Who was the ultimate whizz kid?!?!

  • Wow! I hadn't seen that in more than 20 years and I still remember it so well. How dated it is yet how advanced it felt to a 7 year old.

  • Sheesh, that helped warp me back to the 80's. I remember riding my BMX (bike) and Alf (see "fl1992"'s comment).

Unfortunately I missed this show (unless it never aired in the UK). I will catch as much of it as I can on YouTube though :)

    &eB

  • As old kids tv shows go, this is just about as obscure as it gets. Takes me back...way back!

  • God, I LOVED this show soo much as a kid... This and Voyagers! TY for the vid.. plz someone put episodes on and I'll be ecstatic, and love you forever. lol ;p

  • HOly fucking show

    Mouth hanging open

    Cannot believe I found this

Looks like the black kids playing Tempest!

The computer reminds me of a fucking Commodore!

  • what a great melody! look how primitive the technology is!

  • i loved this show... wonder if they have it on dvd so i can watch it all over again...

  • I LOVED THIS SHOW! :-) One of my over used lines was... "Punk is junk Heavy Metal RULES"!!!

  • Allegro Maestoso, from the Piano Concerto No 21 in C Major

Wolfang Amadeus Mozart -- the greatest composer who ever lived.

  • When you typed 'Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart' I think you meant to type 'J S Bach'.

  • You are right. As I was typing the letters ' J o h a n n S e b a s t i a n B a c h'..somehow the letters appearing on my screen were ' W o l g a n g A m a d e u s M o z a r t '. I guess my keyboard didn't agree with me.

  • Love the theme. I read somewhere that these kids invented the internets.

  • I remember it. This is kind of gross but I remember one night watching this and I got sick and puked and was so sick and I was mad I was missing the show by being in the bathroom puking, TMI. I was about eight.

  • This series would have lasted longer had it not been for a "righteous" TV critic named Kay Gardella, who worked for the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. At a press preview of the show, she questioned why kids would do the "illegal" things they did in the pilot episode. Her moral "outrage" caused CBS to order changes in the series, and eventually, "WHIZ KIDS" was watered down to the point that no one really watched it.

  • I used this theme tune on my vid :-)

    watch?v=i-hwXkehPd4

I liked the show SOOO Much. I always wanted his little robot. The Hero1 so cool.

  • i was around 11 or so when this came out, and i remember scheduling my life aroung this show, i think it followed tj hooker (!) if anyone has these episodes..they stand to make some nice pocket change.

    im dead serious.

  • the amazing world of bittorrent, like youtube, has it all. I picked up the whole series a few months ago, along with some other 80's shows, like "voyagers" and "riptide"

  • Mozart's piano concerto #21, unexpected choice for a opening theme in an american computer crack tv show, but I liked it very much back in the 80s...Thanks for the video.

  • computer sinclair zx80

  • This was awesome (until they started working for that Carson Marsh).

  • Oh and wasn't Andrea Elson a hottie!! :D

  • yes she was!

  • The Gorgeous Actress Andrea Elson as Lynn Tanner was the whole show on Alf!

  • Actress Andrea Elson AKA Lynn Tanner from Alf was as cute as a button!

  • Actress Andrea Elson is such a Beautiful Girl! This show aired on CBS Saturday mornings back in the years 1983-1984, right? I would have loved to have watched saturday morning cartoons alone with Andrea anyday!

  • No, it was NOT on Saturday mornings on CBS, but on in PRIME TIME-about 8:00 PM or so.

  • I was only 6 years old back in the year 1984! But The Beautiful Teenage Actress Andrea Elson as Alice who was later on Alf was one of my fist tv crushes!

  • I was 12....I loved this show

  • Do you remember The Great Space Coaster? And Frannie, the 16 year old brunette singer/guitar player who used to tease Puppet Goriddle Gorilla?

  • yes i know what you mean, i used to dream about being the celio between her legs too

  • Actress Andrea Elson also once guest starred on Who's The Boss?

  • didn't watch this show really, but I definitely remember the "cool" (at the time) theme music!!

  • Man oh man is right! Just like AUTOMAN, this show was at the dawn of the computer age, how could you not love it!

  • Oh man...oh man..oh man...this was like my most favoritist show in the whole wide world back then. I remember that one episode where Richie got pissed about having to use Hamilton's computer 'cuz it didn't have 56k. XD OMG!!

  • lol Actually he was pissed because it had a membrane keyboard
