I used to watch this as a kid! I loved it especially 'cause I had a crush on Matthew Laborateux. I also liked him as Albert on 'Little House on the Prairie". Thanks for sharing.
@javisman Yeah, because in Mexico, "whiz kids" literally means kids pissing by the tree or by the car on blocks. And you can't have a show called " El Whiz Pendejos" with an opening script, "ah ching gaou, Mija look, pendejo whizzed on my lawn again, sucio pedro." That's just not going to work.
Mozart's piano concerto #21. Always loved this intro but never knew it was Mozart. One wild day I bought my first classical cd at Best Buy for $1.99. Just a shot in the dark piano concerto. I put it in my cd player and fell in love with Mozart. It was concerto number 21. The year was 1991.
this show inspired me and my cousin to start a club called the Whiz Kids. We had plans on hacking the worlds computer systems using our Commander 64 and solve mysterious...lol...loved it...GREAT TIMES...
Loved this show so much, it was about computers ( I had my Spectrum 48k!!! ) and BMX's which I had too!! Man,.. Great times and great memories!! Thanks for posting this! Mind you, whoever 'wrote' the music needs taken outside and shot!
I used to 'listen' to this show as i was on my paper route at the time the show was on (sat @ 5.45pm) loved it and the tech (wich was pretty good for then!)

Fuck you Prick, the music is Shit and the most unmintest tune i've ever heard, and as for spitting on me,i would cut your fuckin face off with a rusty can lid,Fuck you!
Here's the funny thing: In 1983 all that gear in his bedroom would have been pretty dang expensive. After all, an Apple III cost between $4500 and $8000 in 1980. That's between $11,000 and $20,000 in today's dollars!!! Where the heck does this kid get that kind of money?!?!
WTF are you talking about? MSRP on the IIe was $2,950 and on the IIc was $2,200 and on the III was $3,200. The IBM 5150 series (w/ 256K of ram and 2 full height 5.25" floppies and RGB/CGA) was $5,200
Boy do I ever remember this show! As a little kid I just wished I had all the neat computer gadgets Richie had! I remember drawing pictures of the kids from Whiz Kids riding their BMX bikes. They took so many liberties with the technology that existed back then, like giving the computer a personality. Though this show made it all seem possible. Though honestly, who would actually name their dog 'Rabies'?
My sister and I loved this show, we watched every episode. I was always frustrated by, and couldn't understand, the fact that my dad's TRS80 couldn't do all the cool stuff in the show. Computers are awesome...

Yeah, I remember recording this when I was about 12 'cos I thought it was such a cool theme tune. Imagine my surprise when, years later, I was experimenting with classical music that I discovered it was by Mozart!!! Obvious really though when you think about it. Who was the ultimate whizz kid?!?!
God, I LOVED this show soo much as a kid... This and Voyagers! TY for the vid.. plz someone put episodes on and I'll be ecstatic, and love you forever. lol ;p

This series would have lasted longer had it not been for a "righteous" TV critic named Kay Gardella, who worked for the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. At a press preview of the show, she questioned why kids would do the "illegal" things they did in the pilot episode. Her moral "outrage" caused CBS to order changes in the series, and eventually, "WHIZ KIDS" was watered down to the point that no one really watched it.
