This scene was LEGIT when I was a kid. At 2:05 when she hit the heel-toe that was lik the coolest part to me smh. Now when I watch it Im like its aite, not as exciting as it use to be, but its still good . Julia Stiles gets props for doin the ballet herself cause thats NOT easy, that stuff takes years to master and overall she did a good job.

Chryssie Whitehead (who played Christine in the revival of A Chorus Line on Broadway) did a beautiful job with the more difficult ballet moves.

I had the special edition VHS with behind the scenes footage & whatnot & I thought I heard Julia say that she begged that the director would NOT cast a double for her character & she implied that she did ALL the ballet on her own. That aint cool....

It would've made her no less of a great dancer, we all know that in most dance movies where the "dancer" isn't professional, they get a little help. But to go out of her way to state that it was all her was unecessary.

just to clarify! She personally said that, even though the shots were made in a way that it didn't seem to be her that was dancing, she was the one that did the whole dance. I'm a dancer myself, and I can tell from her body line, shoulder line and leg shape that she had significant dance training before.

Analyzing Hi all dance well, I'm pretty sure she used a stunt 1:59 and at other times too, the moves also do not think she did, because the scenes are very far and near when this is not shown his face it. Speaking a little more technical part of the lighting also helped hide the movements.

Actually, she already knew how to hip-hop dance, but she had to go through a one month ballet training course for this movie. She had never danced in the ballet style before. So... give her a damn break. I love this movie for the inter-racial relational points it makes. It doesn't matter what color you are, all that matters is love.

For everyone saying she's not a dancer...actually she is. She's had formal training. This dance probably would not actually have gotten her into Julliard as they are a highly competitive school and one broken line would have put her out of the running (which is what happened with her ponche arm), but she's still highly talented in acting AND dancing, so yes she IS a dancer.
