@cpitam The training wheels are not needed for a rider who already balances a two wheeler - in fact the training wheels are an aftermarket item, and don't come with the bike. The MSRP for a brand new Yamaha PW50 is $1,290. But the bike has remained the same design since 1981, and they are built super tough. You can find a hand-me-down (used) PW50 for under $500 if you look, and when your child outgrows it, sell it to someone else for what you paid for it.
aha i wasn't really paying close attention to this video and then i look up and i thought he was doing a burnout when he first starts riding.. then i realize it's just the exhaust.
she is doing great.once she is 10 or 11 and she wants to do motercross she will be driving a 250 4 gauge! (i have done it ever sence i was 4 so i now drive a 259 4gauge with 5 gears)
thts kinda over doing it o.e the bike in this vid looks like a 50cc bike and tht will top at mabey 15-20? idk though only reason im saying this is cause i had an 80cc bike a while ago tht would top out at 40 and now i have a 125 tht will top out at 60..
@bmz2678 - The PW 50 has a centrifugal clutch (no clutch lever) and only one gear. It's just twist and go. The next size up (50cc four strokes) also have a centrifugal clutch, but have multiple gears.
hey bandacycle, i have a question, iv been wanting to get one of these Yamaha 50s for my son, but i dont know if you have to mix the fuel. please message back. thank you
I'm going to have to back up opretopsy: This girl's neighbor, an older boy, near 10, and a good bicycle rider, absolutely could not ride this little motorcycle with training wheels on it.
One of the reasons this girl took the training wheels off before she turned six was that they limited where she could ride, and what obstacles she could ride over. Training wheels keep little ones from falling over, but they sure don't make it easy to really ride.
hey ive been riding motocross for 9 years and i think that yoo are doing a great job as a parent supporting your kid. a little tip. pull her brake levers up so that she can reach them alot better.
i just got my 5 year old the pw50 and she with in 2 days is riding it with out training wheels and she loves it i my self got in to dirt bikes late in life and wish my dad was in to it but never was all i got as a git when i was 12 i got a gocart and a 20gag shot gun for bird hunting now that was alot fun and loved doing it but still wished for the dirtbike i think it is cool and even good for kids to get on a dirt bike young with the right equipment and lern the skill and hone there balance
non on on ono no im not talking too the owner of this vid im talking too purplecurrent! he said take off the training wheels....there gay i wasn't talking too the owner of this vid was talking too purple
I started riding dirt bikes when I was nine.I started with a 110cc I still got that one but it's not like a baby one it goes up to 50mph. I have a yamaha my next dirt bike will be a suzuki rm85cc.
i got my first dirtbike when i was 8 i am so glad my grandpa got me into that kinda stuff cuz when i was nine i was riding 80cc and now i have a kx 100 riding never gets old i LOVE IT!!
@1Reilly2Enns3 ive had one since i was 6 then i moved to an 80cc bike and now im on a 125cc bike its in meh videoz xD i freggin loveee ittt you need to get oneeee OwO
oh just to shut some of the other guys up my sons 50 will do 45mph easy and get there quicker than a 65,
it really depends on what engine and carb and valves are on the bike.
most ktms and cr's are 2.5 bhp and the adventure (faster ktm is 5.5 bhp)
my son has a very rare husky pro 50! has the s6s engine with 21 mm carb its 12bhp the power band is so strong that it can lift the front wheel when it kicks in with me on it and i weigh 13 stone.
I've got pictures on my computer of my dad running alongside me as I learned to ride my Y-Zinger (what they called the PW50) back in the mid '80s. No training wheels back then, but I knew how to ride a bicycle without training wheels, and it didn't take long for me to get the hang of riding my Y-Zinger without Dad running next to me. I've grown up liking motorcycles ever since. Keep teaching her how to ride her bike, she's gonna grow up to be a gearhead, which is always cool in my book!
Theoretically, somewhere around 45-50 mph, but that would be downhill with some room to accelerate.
One of the PW50's nice features is a throttle stop - a long bolt and nut on the throttle assembly that allows a parent to limit how far the throttle can be opened. This girl's throttle stop is set at two and a half turns out - enough to get her up the mild slopes in her back yard.
How much do these bikes usually retail for? And are training wheels needed if they already balance on a regular bike?

@williebon You do not premix the fuel - plain old unleaded goes in the gas tank, and 2-stroke oil goes in a reservoir behind the front number plate.
