uku, thanks for sharing the video. Uncle Tau (and his legacy) means so very much to so many. He is my Great Uncle, brother to my Papa Atoe Moe. If you need assistance transferring video-tapes to computer, I would love to assist. please feel free to contact me.
Thanks for this post. Listening to Mr. Moe playing (like Mrs. Moe's singing) you can tell he must've really been something in years past.
Brozman of course plays like the Devil and perhaps is better than anybody ever was on Hawaiian steel guitar, though he would be the first to deny it.
I speak as someone who's been knocking himself out trying to figure out the licks on the Tau Moe Family CD... Sad that there are so few people in the audience. Pearls before swine...
The film was never finished due to lack of US arts funding, which ended the year after the filming was funded. The raw film exists. I am sure Mr. Zwigoff would be interestd in finishing it, if there were funding available for editing, processing, permissions, etc. So, "sharing," in this case, involves more than just wishing. I think this video thart ukulelezaza posted is a wonderful snapshot of a rare and precious live moment in history.
While it is great to see Tau Moe playing this is nevertheless a crap video and that a pity because the life story of The Moe family is sitting in Terry Zwigoff's (director of Ghost World-might have spelt his name wrong) film archive. He and Bob Brozman made it about 15 years or more ago and have never edited it together. Share it with us Terry, Bob, please. Dont let this crappy little video be all that anyone will ever see of The Moe Family.
Oh please stop complaining about this "crappy little video". How much footage of Tau Moe is out there? I can't transfer my old video tapes to my computer, so I just filmed my tv screen while playing the video. You should be thankful I made the effort. This is unique footage. As long as you can't come up with something better yourself you should keep quiet and enjoy every second of this wonderful music.
Having said that, I totally agree Bob and Terry should release whatever they have!
