you have been blessed with a great gift of teaching. In one of your videos, you said "if you want to keep it, give it away." that has stuck with me and now I apply it to my trumpet students, vocal, and music in general.
Ive tried this on my C harmonica and got the rhythm nailed but it just does not sound quite right im thinking of buying a harmonica tomorrow in either E or A, which one you using?x
This dude is a natural teacher, you couldent get the best harp players in the world to instruct you how their technics are practiced better then this dude does! great harm player for sure... but even a better teacher!!!
gosh your tearing it up dude. i'm gonna have to watch a few times to get this. i just got bending the other day. thanks for the tutorials. your awesome!!!
Yo Ricci, this is probably an easy thingy but I just bought a harmonica this week and can't find your first lesson on youtube, could you point be to it?
sooooo good! thanks alot. Man! you may want to slow it down a tad, for us slow folk. Youtube is great, atleast I can hit replay, until I get it. Ahhhh..the beauty of youtube!
You have a great way of teaching and getting your points across in a way that is understandable. You have a natural talent for that. That's a real gift. I've been playing for 40 years and have learned more in a week from you than I did in 10 years. I was doing stuff that sounded good not knowing how I was doing it. Now, if I can take the next step that will be great. Keep up the good work and if you ever play in So. Ca, I'd like to hear about it. I think you have a great style. Steve
Eres la hostia tio, te sales; creo que no voy a poder tocar la armonica en mi puta vida, pero bueno, seguire viendo tus videos porque algo aprendo cada día, una abrazo y suerte.
Hi Jason. Thankyou SO MUCH for these lessons/advice/tips/everything. You and Adam Gussow and many others have been mentors to people like myself who are wanting to get serious with their Harp playing. I really do hope you come out to Australia someday and tour down under. I've sent you a link to my band in pvt message. Please have a listen if you get the chance and feel free to critique me on my playing. Thankyou!
Like your comments on not being only focused on technique but, paying attention also to developing a musical intuition applying to beats and measures, building solos to a crescendo, and the return to a theme.
Sorry Jaztone Richkey - was that you in a video with christeller ? French Girl ? Also get a bit of a kick when you run out by one second - "ok thanks for watching and......" - anyway - looking young again - must have been have been bad light.
@jasonricci He's absolutely right about impeccable time - but to step it up to the next level, tap your foot on 2 and 4 only, not on all four beats of the measure. Do this with a metronome at first until you "ingrain" it it.
Do you know the diference between portuguese and spanish??? I don't think you do!
so here we go. Não beijar seu traseiro não. Eu vou é enterrar meu pau na sua bunda magrela! porque é oque você gosta!! seu viadinho!! você toca gaita como uma bicha!
Also you mixed spanish from mexico with argentinian! chaquetero!!
Una mas cosa...Why is it every homophobic idiot that writes nasty shit always at some point eventually winds up saying there going to screw some "queer" in the ass? That is always the funniest/best part. Plecplec you should really watch this video...it's for you its here on youtube (also with spanish subtitles) and it's titled : " Study shows that repressed Homosexuality could be root of Homophobia (legendado)."
jason dont listen to this fools. They probably have no life and no friends. God bless you jasonricci for teaching us this great instrument so much misunderstood.
Plecplec you should really watch this video...it's for you its here on youtube (also with spanish subtitles) and it's titled : " Study shows that repressed Homosexuality could be root of Homophobia (legendado)."
No most of this is done lip pursing by just sort of opening and closing my mouth to allow a chord/chords in between any single notes and also yes articulating with a "t" sound against my front teeth.. Of course you can and should try it tongue blocking too. Good question!

You iz one Garoovie vampin machine, Jason. I revisit this video when I need a 'Jumpstart'. Your discussion of relevance and getting back in time is a huge key for the Harmonica player that does not want to dodge flying objects, lol...

WOW Jason I'm just getting back into playing Harp after a long layoff, This is the kind of stuff I want to learn, I will watch this video another 20 times till I have this off to a tee.. Thanks
nice work, an easy-to-watch lesson: breaking it all down from simple technique to light embellishment without getting to heavily into musical jargon, which many beginners are overwhelmed with.
I think this video was great because you demonstrate the rapid result then you break it down to the steps that us beginners can start off slow. Thanks

I speak only to reinforce your wisdom Mr Ricci, "timing is everything." Even the heavenly spheres revolve around the golden orb with utterly exact timing! Some of Little Walters works are simply no more than warbles with an odd bend here and there. But even with his warbles he's accenting or playing off the beat with utterly impeccable timing. This is the secret of the wisdom teachings, left to us by the venerable master Jacob.

I've addressed this before in text and in one of these videos...but to answer the question...No...it would be way to hard for me to do that and it would take too many episodes...sorry..I am planning some more regular videos soon though...Thanks for watching!!

I've addressed this before in text and in one of these videos...but to answer the question...No...it would be way to hard for me to do that and it would take too many episodes...sorry..I am planning some more regular videos soon though...Thanks for watching!!
