dude... i know this video is from 2009 and i assume you know by know ninja 250s are fast bikes... i never own one but bunch of guys in my group rides use to ride those bikes... you obviously subestimated those bikes at the moment your filmed this video... i hope you changed your mind... visit my sites... you might like them EastEndRiders & ScarboroughRides in canada (.ca)
I ride a 900 Vulcan cruiser...I bought a Ninja 250 for my daughter. For quick trips I prefer the 250. Also... the Ninja 250 gets 65 miles per gallon versus 40 mpg on my Vulcan.
The new Ninja 250s are not actually any faster on the top end, but they have improved the mid range. I'm curious to see a race between the new CBR250 and the 250R though
liberalism is failing cali... I used to like watching your videos until this... now i LOVE watching your videos!!!! so good to hear someone speak the truth! keep riding the truth!
how do you go from riding a motorcycle to polotics. its one thing to make a road reffrence, its another to speak for 2 minutes about it in a 4 minute video about riding bikes.
@MrXsavageX dude.. 250 is the smallest allowed on freeway. but a ninja 250.. can go 100 mph.. its more than find 2 be on free way.. not a hazard way so ever.
I rode my ninja 250 45 miles to and from school each day for a semester which wasn't bad. Now the ride is only 20 mi which is just fine. Since I don't care too much for going over the speed limit anymore (unless I'm late), and with special sprockets, I'm averaging 57 mpg! 250's are awesome!
Nice video shock watched the whole thing. How long have you been riding for? Have you ever taken a spill? And i wonder whats your take on dampeners for a 250?
I really enjoyed this video. I'm going to be getting a 250 of my own this next week, and I've ridden them before on the road. A lot of people with 600s or 1000s seem to give 250 riders a lot of shit. But you are totally cool about it. I really appreciate that!
@birmingham10 Idk if you've already made your bike purchase yet or not but I own a 2011 ninja 250 and ride 60 miles a day with it on the freeway, it handles the freeway just fine, Took it down to SoCal this month with my wife on the back, it was a 3000 mile bike ride, but other than out ass's, nothing went wrong with the bike at all. Handled the trip just fine, and that was with two people on it with an average speed of 75-80 mph. and saved a shitload on gas (50-60 mpg) 60-65+ when solo riding
@CrazySht126 I know your comment pretty much explained everything but how was acceleration with two people aboard? Me and my girlfriend wouldn't excel 300 together so not a lot of weight. Also, was your wife comfortable on it over that period of time? This is one of my deciding factors on whether or not I'm getting a Ninja 250r as my first bike because I plan to be riding doubles a lot plus do a lot of freeway travel.
i dont understand why people say ninja 250 is not good for highway?? it can go 95MPH and the spped limit is 70 just stay at 75 in slow lane and ur fine...
if you think the roads in sac are bad you should try driving through downtown Houston. Well really it's all of houston. A conservative city. not to play the political party card to heavily but really the roads are shitty everywhere. We all have a story about hitting a pothole that almost killed us, and if you havent yet just keep riding.
I've ridden 250's and 600s... the first bike I ever rode was a 600 Honda Shadow and I'm riding 250's in the MSF class... At speed the 250 is very "fishy" and moves in the wind where as the 600 is planted on the ground. If you practice your clutch control a lot before you get on a freeway you can start with any size you like. A 600 is more responsive to counter-steer, and the 250 is more responsive to lean.. it's just a matter of knowing that. You should be counter-steering in most cases. :)
@birmingham10 no. my buddy has one. he tops it out at like 90 tacked on the freeway. he needs a different rear sprocket if he wants the top end. but you will give up the little bit of torque you have if you do that
@birmingham10 Personally I'd say 500cc and up is good. Right now I own a 2009 Suzuki GS500F and I'm fine on the freeway at high speeds for any sort of distance.
And thats the slow 250 4stroke kwaka. ZXR250C IL4 250cc can exceed 200kmh when well tuned, de-limited and with a straight through exhaust. Also had fully adjustable front and rear back in 1991.. Baby ninja! Of course nothing on modern litre bikes though hehehe.
lol.. dumb stupid Americans. how you keep these cattle busy? dont worry, they will keep themselves busy. just supply them nice toys like fast motorbikes and they will compete with each other on the highway without really breaking rules or cause any victims. win-win situation (hahaha)
i see everyone saying that you should get a 500cc or 600cc, but me and my friends (were all girls) wanna get a bike, and we dont wanna get nothing to powerful, its not that were not afraid, but its just to ride around SC, and maybe go to GA every once in a while ... so would you recommend the 250, or should we get something bigger...? :] thanks.
@jumpingpacino well if you dont want anything to fast but want comfort get a cruiser style motorcycle they are made for long distances and have good pickup other than that id say a nice moped style motorcycle because sportbikes tend to get powerful after 250cc, but the power isn't bad as long as you are careful your not going to go flying into anything you can easily cruise on sportbikes....
@xBMXxRIDERx i have a 2010 Ninja 250 and i like it. however, im already tired of it and want a bigger bike (i have had my 250 for about 3 months now). i would recommend getting a Ninja 500
hey im buying my first motorcycle in a month. im thinking about either a ninja 250 or a yamaha r6, what would you recomend. Also i hear the r6 is a beast lol
@harropizza If this is your fist bike, ninja, if not R6 it up! im looking into bikes instead of by car in the summer for comuting to work and stuff. Just gota get my bike license now.
Great video! The Moe Szyzlak imitation was great. Just this morning, a Ninja 250R blew right past me while I was cruising some back roads on my SV650. I want one!
@birmingham10 250 is a great bike to learn on. It is great for daily riding, good gas mileage, and forgiving. You can learn from your mistakes without risk on the 250. Don't start on a 600, worst thing you could do. 250 is fine on the freeway, 600 will just enhance your bad habits instead of helping. Be smart, start small.
Hey dude, we live in the same town! I just got me motorcycle license 2 months ago and I'm currently buying a 07 Ninja ex250, I've ridden it a couple of times and I like it but the only problem is it looks like a clown bike on me haha. Maybe you'll see me riding around town and you'll know what I'm taking about...
@birmingham10 If your just riding on the street and your not in to dressing up and looking like a power ranger and being a knee dragging hero and on the track. a 250 is more then enough motor for highway and commuting. and if its your first bike a 250 would a good idea. learning on a 600 is not hard no matter what they say, but a 250 is better to learn on and you will become a better rider learning on a smaller bike.
At 1:31 that is just awful! To have a pot hole like that on a freeway is a joke. You wouldn't get something like that even on a tiny road in the countryside here in the UK. Why are a lot of the roads so bad in America, I would maybe expect roads to be bad in a state like Iowa or something but not California!
lol nice jersey guy impression haha i live on lake hopatcong! lol they are very bad! i have a hardtail and a r1 and the drivers here are horrible on the freeway
Getting a Power Commander Jet Kit for a ninja 250r is really great. You won't drag your rpms as much at a higher speed, you can also push the top speed out some more. If you get a K&N airfilter and a non-stock exhaust you can push a little close to an extra 10 horsepower into the bike which REALLY helps with the 250r. I ride mine everyday and personally i love it to death, even swapped the stock little back tire and put a 140 on the back, no need to mod the swingarm either :) Keep riding guys.
yea i got a 2011 ninja 250r i have no prob on freeways i normally cruse about 80 no prob but after 80 really draggs on. but great bike i love it but i do already want to trade up to the 650 or the 1000 ninja but it was really great to learn on and if u can keep it nice looking you can trade it back in for about the same price when u get tired of it
@birmingham10 yes the ninja 250 is fine for freeway riding, i just bought my 2010 ninja 250r last month. It's a great bike as long as you dont compare it to another motorcycle, but u can zip through traffic on the street like a breeze, and as for freeway riding? i go 75-80 at about 9-11 rpm, you have room for acceleration. It does fine against cars, but if you compare or try to keep up with a 600+, then ur screwed. I ride 95% freeway on my way to work 5 days week, on one tank, $9 to fill up =)
The Ninja 250 is like -the- standard newbie bike. I'd say its very good for a beginner, but it really depends on what you're looking for. What kind of riding are you going to do (highway, backroad)?
@AvengedSol Over here in England, you need a CBT (Training, basically) before you can jump on a bike; and that limits you to a 125, max. You need a full license before you can jump on anything bigger.
And to be honest, my 125 scares me sometimes; so a 250 will be a lot for a beginner; imo. ;)
Go with what you feel comfortable though. But, if I can pop the wheel up from stationary by accident on my 125... XD Good luck dumping the clutch on a 250. Just sayin'.
wow never new the ninja 250's could haul that much ass haha, now i want one, cuz i'd rather have fun and ride a small bike rather than get killed on a 600.
@NC2Wheels I obviously dont know you but you wont see me in the twisties, highway, anything on your 250 when Im on my 929 = liter bike power with 600 handling.... wont see me bro 250s are slow as hell (used to ride one)
Hoping myself to pick up a 250R rather soon. That said, I'm in California as well, and am rather scared because, as you said, the surfaces are truly terrible; there are holes and cracks all over the place!
dude come to massachusetts for a summer and watch constant road construction everywhere create shittier roads and highways in the fall and winter. potholes fucking everywhere....and dont ever expect any city in this state or rhode island to get rid of their cobblestones.
@shockofgod how much is the 250r? i wanted a r1 but im only 15 and a beginner and thought i should get a bit of practice before crashing a 11k peice of art. lol
I'm from the UK and I thought our roads were bad lol. We have issues with pot holes in the built up areas but the motorways and dual carriage ways look like race tracks compared to this road haha. Now I can see why we pay so much bloody road tax.
@uncutsquid texas road don't suck as much as new orleans roads though... if you think texas roads suck don't come here to new orleans we got potholes so big your car will get stuck in them
Dude i was like this guy looks like he is on i-80.lol then you said you were in cali! you prolly were on i-80 that freeway is HORRIBLE for streetbikes.lol
I agree, liberalism has failed us. Our country needs small government and less wasted spending on stupid projects (all we need are simple things like roads). Is that to much to ask?
1) you are right to distinguish liberal/conservative from democrat/republican. The first is a spending philosophy and the second are politcal parties. You are also right that CA is a liberal state, along with NJ, as you mentioned, OR, etc.
2) However liberalism comes from the obvious root in the word meaning that this spending philosophy involves overspending on social programs and infrastructure, so your politcal math doesnt add up
@sarimbaig1 they ride bikes in pakistan???? oh wow i thought you guys drove donkeys or llamas.... maybe horses .... dont tell me they also have cars because i will go there and prove it wrong .... FML

KratosZX 5 months ago

@birmingham10
yea i got a 2011 ninja 250r i have no prob on freeways i normally cruse about 80 no prob but after 80 really draggs on. but great bike i love it but i do already want to trade up to the 650 or the 1000 ninja but it was really great to learn on and if u can keep it nice looking you can trade it back in for about the same price when u get tired of it

ianfincher91 5 months ago
@birmingham10 yes the ninja 250 is fine for freeway riding, i just bought my 2010 ninja 250r last month. It's a great bike as long as you dont compare it to another motorcycle, but u can zip through traffic on the street like a breeze, and as for freeway riding? i go 75-80 at about 9-11 rpm, you have room for acceleration. It does fine against cars, but if you compare or try to keep up with a 600+, then ur screwed. I ride 95% freeway on my way to work 5 days week, on one tank, $9 to fill up =)

Would a Ninja 250 be good for a beginner? I wanna start riding a bike and any info can help :)
AvengedSol 5 months ago
@AvengedSol
The Ninja 250 is like -the- standard newbie bike. I'd say its very good for a beginner, but it really depends on what you're looking for. What kind of riding are you going to do (highway, backroad)?
kazetsukaimiko 5 months ago
@AvengedSol Over here in England, you need a CBT (Training, basically) before you can jump on a bike; and that limits you to a 125, max. You need a full license before you can jump on anything bigger.
And to be honest, my 125 scares me sometimes; so a 250 will be a lot for a beginner; imo. ;)
Go with what you feel comfortable though. But, if I can pop the wheel up from stationary by accident on my 125... XD Good luck dumping the clutch on a 250. Just sayin'.

i hear you on the roads. midwest has the greatest roads. You should check it out for some good riding @shockofgod
hempaw 5 months ago
1. Yes its a 250, not 650 as some have said.
2. More than adequate for freeway riding.
Anyone who says otherwise has never ridden a Ninja 250.
I can overtake 600 and liter bikes in twisties on my 250.
You only need 600+ if you want to go very fast in a straight line which really doesnt take much skill...
NC2Wheels 6 months ago
@NC2Wheels I obviously dont know you but you wont see me in the twisties, highway, anything on your 250 when Im on my 929 = liter bike power with 600 handling.... wont see me bro 250s are slow as hell (used to ride one)
ride safe peaceeee
Konamtbdjc1k 5 months ago
@NC2Wheels ninja 250 doesn't have the power to take a 600 in any real curves

RBusmcRB 6 months ago
@birmingham10 yes but not for long distances at high speeds in my opinion. For freeway riding you want at least a 600 motor.
shockofgod 6 months ago
@shockofgod i am planing on getting one, to drive 65 miles on the highway every day PLUS city streets, what do you think it, CAN IT TAKE IT?
whitestang99 6 months ago
@shockofgod how much is the 250r? i wanted a r1 but im only 15 and a beginner and thought i should get a bit of practice before crashing a 11k peice of art. lol

You are a GENIUS!!!
Liberalism kills anything it infects. I really don't understand how anyone can think it is logical.
California needs fresh, new CONSERVATIVE face at the Governor's mansion!

@shockofgod but the ninja can perform well in the freeway? as we can see in the video.

@shockofgod ninja 250 gets 60mpg on average. just saying :]

I'm from the UK and I thought our roads were bad lol. We have issues with pot holes in the built up areas but the motorways and dual carriage ways look like race tracks compared to this road haha. Now I can see why we pay so much bloody road tax.

I agree, liberalism has failed us. Our country needs small government and less wasted spending on stupid projects (all we need are simple things like roads). Is that to much to ask?

gotta love Kawasaki. They've got "It" down to a science
Seif5034 7 months ago
thx for the vid. I'm a 250 owner, they are great.
2 things
1) you are right to distinguish liberal/conservative from democrat/republican. The first is a spending philosophy and the second are politcal parties. You are also right that CA is a liberal state, along with NJ, as you mentioned, OR, etc.
2) However liberalism comes from the obvious root in the word meaning that this spending philosophy involves overspending on social programs and infrastructure, so your politcal math doesnt add up
