It looks like he ran a "negative split" for the last 200 meters (meaning he ran his last 200 at a faster pace than the previous 200.) Looks like a 25-mid for the last 200. The kid could probably run a 47-low or 46-high in the open 400 as a high schooler, which is fast for an 800 runner. He's obviously much faster now.

i hate non runners because they only care about who is first and they think that second place is slow no matter what time they got. just because someone got second place (or lower) it doesnt mean they are slow.

Actually, that's NOT the 800 Meter Record set by a male athlete. The record for an 800 Meter Sprint was set in 1996 by Michael Granville at 1:46.45.

@mastrsordskateboardr look it up. Michael Granville ran a 1:46 in the prelims of his state meet, then went on to win the finals in 1:50. He has the all-time highschool record. If you want an interview of it/where he is now go on flotrack.com. In college he became average thought like 1:48's never got faster, said he lost feel for it.
