you're right he is the second person in the trinity, when they say he is the first & the last they are saying he was the beginning of creation he was the first thing God created and he was the most important thing God created. When they say he Alpha & Omega they say there is no person on earth on that is above him and that he is worthy of all our praise , but God is still his creator and in that sense he is worthy of just as much praise if not more because without him there would be no messiah.
