  • ruined a game that could have been the best race sim in history

  • This is nfs shit 2

  • How the hell did IGN give this game a 9 out of 10? How the hell isn't this problem discussed on the game's wiki page? How the hell did gamefly let me rent this? I feel like I'm going crazy!

  • i have problem whit keyboard how to fix this lag?

  • @147NITRO Have the same problem too idk how to fix it but check vids on youtube

  • @chrisg123 on keyborad?

  • @147NITRO yes

  • Happens on the PC too and on the original Shift. I hoped it would've been fixed by Shift 2 but I was disappointed.

  • I have this on ps3 and it is unplayable especially with powerful cars. The controls are horrible. The first shift has really good controls with the right settings, but this game is complete shit.

  • @MrPopular22 I just wish everyone would remember the real racing car drivers who put time into the creation of this crappy game. All the recommendations and promises that this game will rival the best sims. and what did we get?

  • I'm glad I pirated this shit, is unplayable even with keyboard. It seems like the driver is on LSD or anesthetic. Crap game

  • my game doesnt have any steering wheel lag....wierd maybe because i have it on PC?

  • I returned this game to my local game shop because of the wheel lag. I only wil buy it again when all is fixed!

  • for players with steering lag in nfs S2U>

    i use a logitech rumblepad 2, n i had lag before this

    set!

preset conf.:Logitech G27 st.wh -separate pedals Force feedback :100% steering deadzone: set between 15-20% > i have set it to 16 steering sensitivity: set between 20-40% > 20 is ideal for me throttle deadzone: 12% throttle sensitivity: 20-40% speed sensitivity: 50% steering lock: 100%

  • Shift 2 The Hoovercraft Edition. How do they do it at Slightly Mad Studio's: ruin the perfect steering of Shift 1? You would expect the same superb steering. It worries me that NFS S2 is the second game in the NFS row with steering problems when it was brought on the market. And what really annoys me is that EA - again - doesn't properly communicates about the problem. It's not right that gamers try to find a solution. We paid EA for the game, so they should come up with a solution.

  • i thought it was my talent in this game... i can play any racegames but anytime i want to steer.. it takes about a second before i feel the steering.... it sucks

  • @stepxunit for players with steering lag in nfs S2U>

  • are you guys sure its something wrong with the game. i dont like it either but i think it is supposed to be like this. unfortunaly :(

  • Go get Dirt 3, it has better gameplay, stunning graphics and the cars drive much better. Shift 2 sucks in comparison with Dirt 3. I will never buy an EA racegame again. Codemasters make better racegames.

  • o Dios al parecer este juego es una reberenda webada.. u.u yo tengo el mismo problema...

  • woah... i said to one of my friends that the steering input has some lag.

he said it is fine for him.

i thought i just might have been drunk without knowing it, but then i searched for that problem on the internet, and found out im not the only one.

bad job, EA, i am disappoint...

  • I'm struggling not to uninstall this right now. the "lag" is really annoying. I'm playing it on PC with my wireless xbox controller and it's not really lag, more like, the game doesn't want to turn the wheel as fast as I want it to. I even tried the "DampeningEnabled=0" thing but I see no improvement.

  • @bv90andy not really lag? what else is it then, I think lag sums it up pretty damn well.

  • @dakax43 I say not really because when you turn just a little, like 10 degrees, then it reacts instantly( I play on pc with xbox controller) anyway, I fixed it for me, although I don't think it would work with wheels or on consoles. I fixed it by selecting a Logitech wheel (that's why I said it won't work with wheels) in the options and then reconfigured all controls for the xbox controller (which is basically doing the "DampeningEnabled=0" fix) Now I have no lag and the cars handle a lot easier

  • Switch your HUD to Telemetry and you'll see that the lag is only in the animation.

  • @killfireX it's not only the animation.the game doesn't want to turn as fast as you turn your stick/wheel I notice it very much while racing. My times are 2 minutes better with the same stock car on nurburgring in shift 1 then in 2

  • lol i have the same fucking lag

  • You thing by youselft

  • I'm completely frustrated with this game just because of that. I was strugling to find out what the problem was...then I realised it was the f* lag. Thank you for posting this, if everyone with the same problem complain, maybe they'll notice the size of the shit they've done and fix it!

  • I have figured a way how to remove the lag and get the steering back to normal...adjust the settings (like Piamp6 said to) and put the deadzone for steering at 0 and sensitivity at 80. Seems to have worked for me, and im using a controller (Y)

  • I HAVE NO STEERING LAG. GO TO OPTIONS IN THE MAIN MENU AND GO TO GAMEPLAY SETTINGS. SO TO ADJUST CONTROLS AND PRESS R1. YOU CAN ADJUST YOUR STEERNG DEADZONE AND ALL SENSITIVITIES.

THUMB THIS UP SO PEOPLE ACTUALLY HAVE FUN PLAYING!

  • i have better lags than you :D

  • i was just about to order this game for the ps3, is it worth it!? :O

  • I got a DFP and g27. DFP worked well with underground 2 and i commend EA for that. This is the same crappy problem i had with undercover on ps2! steering lag!! EA GET A CLUE LEARN FROM CODEMASTERS AND POLYPHONY !! MAKE A DRIVING GAME AGAIN!!

  • I have the same problem while playing with my Sixaxis-controler. Is this fixed in the latest patch?

  • @Wiztor360 Patch 1.01 was a prep for the DLC, it hasn't fixed the steering issue. The second part of the patch is supposedly due out in a week or so.

  • @megadarren A second patch was announced?

  • @grdzero Yes, it's supposed to be a 2-part Patch which will be released because of the DLC's.. Hopefully the second part will fix the steering lag, the first one did not...

  • @megadarren try your self but if u ask me, it still lags even after patch 1.02!! EA neeeeeeeeeeeed to sort this out!!

  • FUCKING ASSCLOWNS. 3 SEC STEERING DELAY? DO YOU HAVE CHIMPS DESIGNING YOUR GAMES NOW??? DICKS

  • FUCK YOU EA YOU GREASY BASTARDS

  • I was going to buy this on PC but reading all the issues with it i think i will give it a miss and get DiRT 3 intead Codemasters FTW.

  • @ScaryClownTown If you will experience input lag, it will certainly scr*w up the gameplay, I'd suggest going for DiRT 3 indeed!

  • Try to put the "Deadzone" on 0% in the "Controlls" menu, this should fix it a bit. Sorry for Bad laguage.

  • it pissed me off, i didnt made the first mission with keyboard, where are games like nfs porsche oder driver, there you could play DIRECT

  • dont let it get u down. it didnt take me too long to get used to it.

  • I was looking forward especially for the drift mode but with the input lag there was no fun at all ... Logitech DFP

  • @DonMateok1990 I think drift mode has a whole other issue when it comes to players with wheels... never mind the input lag. The cars feel too powerful and they are way too light on the rear. How the heck do you spin out at 30mph and with 50hp?... Unbelievable. Drift mode is pretty much unplayable with a wheel.

Ironically it works fine with a controller.. why in the world would I go back to playing with a controller when I got a wheel?

  • @NotSoFastDriver Oooh and I thought that I am a big noob when it comes to drift ^^ joke. I played many hours SHIFT 1 with my wheel and the drift mode was well done (althought they could add more tracks with rounds but nvm.) and here I feel retarded when trying to drift in the drift lesson mode.. You're right, it feels like the cars have way to much power even when you want to add just little speed.. How could they do this, I hope there will be a patch which will fix that.

  • Yeah this lag is waaay worse than ity was in shift 1. Hope they can optimize this SOON.

I'm wondering why no one talks about this before the game was released. All those who tested it should have noticed

  • I am playing with just a controller and it lags like no other racing game i've ever played. It is playable, but could be soo much better without the lag. At first i thought it was just a sensitivy or deadzone setting that was causing it, but no matter how much i fiddled w/ the control settings, It just never feels right.

  • Yes thats for the PC!

How to fix it for the PS3????

  • Please do some research before you complain about the makers! This is how you fix it!

    1. Open your Programs folder and navigate to \Electronic Arts\SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED\ControllerDefaults\PC

    2. Find the XML file that relates to your setup

    3. Right click on the file, go to Properties and UNCHECK Read-Only

    4. Open the file in notepad and change DampeningEnabled to 0

5.Save the file and set it back to Read-Only

  • @akaivan Unfortunately, this doesn't fix the lag for everyone, when I opened my 'vehicleset_pc_logitech_g25_separatepedals.xml' DampeningEnabled was already set to 0 and I still experience the idiotic lag.. This game was supposed to challenge GT5? Guess it doesn't, by miles!

  • @akaivan It helps but not 100%. If you press quickly all the way to the left or right, it will *still* lag, but much less. There is another variable to be changed. In Dirt 2, you could change "linearity" from within the menus.

  • @akaivan It is set to 0, but still...

  • @akaivan It is and was set to 0...

  • shi(f)t 2 tzhe moost R3alistic racer EV4RRR

    FU EA..

  • Same on PC!

  • I agree with u too... the steering must be fixed. also some other stupid things. like the stupid AI of the opponents and there agression.this suxx.SO EA FIX IT...IF NOT U LOOSE A LOT USERS.........i think

  • The PC version also has this lag... shame on EA. Makes this game unplayable. Typical EA-engine, looks well but plays like hell.

  • It is not just with the wheel, every control and plataform has a half second lag to it...I tried it on the xbox 360 with wheel and with the pad, computer with a xbox 360 controller and mouse keyboard, all of them has a half second lag that makes impossible to play...I tried every single tip and file modification that is on the internet, and nothing worked...Now we have to wait and see...

  • I would suspect they were told or payed to not mention shit about this. It's basically making the game unplayable with a wheel, unless you stick to only AWD vehicles and even then you're still boat racing. I really want to like this game more because the racing is fun but man, there's only so much of this that I will accept. I'm guessing we won't hear a peep out of SMS or EA though.

Screw playing with a controller when I have a sweet wheel that works excellently on certain other racing games.

  • @jeremiah77769 it actually looks a lot worse with a controller. :s

  • I agree with you 100%. Input lag is the first thing I noticed when I was doing the test lap. I couldn't believe how bad it was, I even went back to GT5 and bought and fully modded a GTR just to see if that particular car handles like that. It makes the game completely unplayable. I'm not a hardcore racer, but I played enough racing games to immediately notice this. How can so many so called professional reviewers miss this? Thumbs up for this video.

  • @awdrifter3

    actually they didnt "miss" that

its obvious that ea has a LOT OF MONEY..

  • @GIANNHSPEIRAIAS EA should really re-think how to spend their money. If they just pull some of the marketing budget into actually making the game, it would've turned out a lot better.
