Nice clear transfer on the film with good color! Thanks for sharing, now the band says this is stuff not used throwaway edtis..where are the good edits, and what were they used for?

The original White Whale label single of Smashed Blocked is absolute, utter perfection. Few seemed to realize then (and even now) what a courageous move this song made by arbitrarily genre-hopping from psych to doo wop. Pure genius!
its sounds like FranCoise Hardy (Dylan';s muse) why are they all left-handed?? the editor was the one that wasn't supposed to do drugs...what went wrong and wher is BOLAN>??
Totally rulin. Never thought to search for this, since I assumed such a clip simply didn't exist! Easily in my top 10 singles of the 1960s. Thanks for posting.
Viv Prince from The Pretty Things filled in for Moon on several occasions in late '65. Which is funny because Keith took a good deal of his schtick straight from the Viv Prince playbook. Look up the Pretties early '65 appearance in Blokker, Holland here on YT for evidence.
The drummer Chris Townson was the best Keith Moon drummer I've ever seen next to Keith Moon. Totally underrated. He never got his due. I saw him in concert while vacationing in the UK with the reformed Johns Children and he was awesome visually and soundwise.
They wasn't much better with Bolan. Do remember they was sent home from the tour they were doing with The Who after only two gigs. (They had to use studio musicians on the albums, since Hewlett couldn't play bass.) But both Townson and Ellison is beyond incredible, check out Jet or Radio Stars instead!
They had their moments, but they seemed to rely more on cheap publicity stunts more than musical ability. What else can I say? I've heard better and I've heard worse.
I've only come across John's Children. What a great sound. God knows how loud it must have been! Let's not forget this was NOT Marc Bolan's band. This was a band that had Marc Bolan as a member and not for long.
I don't understand this equation. hrny=x? I was never any good at mathematics, but this seems most peculiar to me. Does each letter have a particular value? But if that is the case, then why does the sum equal x? Perhaps I need a abacus.
Hay! I never tried it until my friend Henry the Horse turned me on. They do say that if you weren't there, you can't remember it. Well, I wasn't there, then, obviously, innit.
This is strange film clip, that Chris, John and myself (Andy Ellison) filmed for our first single, at the then famous, basement, 'Establishment Club' (Peter Cooks, satirical venue in Greek St Soho), 1967. The clip is made up from bits of film left on the cutting room floor. A technician must have kept them. And Somehow they have made it to utube! No Idea what happened to the proper film. SMASHED was a mod term for drunk and BLOCKED was a mod term for being pilled up (high on amphetamines).
My Dad, Chris Townson, is the lovely young thing on the drums.. sadly he passed away on February 10th this year. I can safely say he and Marc are creating musical magic wherever they are... x
in this video, which one is marc? i agree that marc and your dad and all the others who are in rock and roll heaven are jamming together. i have this wonderful fantasy of two of my very diverse favorites, karen carpenter and kurt cobain doing a duet somewhere.
LOVE John's Children! Proto-punk insanity! Just check 'Jagged Time Lapse', 'Perfumed Garden of Gulliver Smith', 'Midsummer Night's Scene' or anything they did as a BAND (this was actually recorded, I BELIEVE, with just Andy Ellison! No other members!). Wild, noisy stuff, especially during the Bolan period!

Absolute crap. A rubbish and fogettable song and nothing more,. Total hype...don;t believe it! Bolan was a whore and a charlatan with very little musical and even less lyrical ability. Unbelievably poor.
I dont think Bolan was in them when they recorded this..I gotta disagree. This is a lost 60's classic and had it been recorded by the likes of the stones would have been the smash hit it deserved to be. Pure tension, and what a great title...
John's Children playing live @ the Inn on the Green in London- Saturday 19th May! Joined by The Fallen Leaves (featuring Rob Symmons- original guitarist and founding member of Subway Sect) City Lights and The Late Dave Arnoff. Address: The Inn on the Green 3 Thorpe Close, Notting Hill, W10 5XL... DOORS 8pm Be there or be very, very square!
BRILLIANT! Along with the now deleted '69 tv clip of Slade doing "Wild Winds Are Blowing" this is the BESt thing I've EVER seen on YouTube. Amazing, thanks for posting this!! Who cares if it's backwards and out of synch. Brilliant!
This clip was a real suprise. My God did Andy have a great voice! Just such a great group, and the Orgasm LP is a whole hell of a lot better than people say it is. Sure there is lots of phoney aplause, but the songs are fantastic. By the way, if any of you mods get a chance to buy their single Smashed Blocked on USA White Whale, flip it over for song which was big inspiration for Blur's Parklife!
This was released about a year before Marc Bolan joined. The guitarist would have bee the original,Geoff McLerllend who was sacked in favour of Marc.Does anybody have copies of the other two John's Children promos, for Desdemona and Come And Play With Me In The Garden?
