The Tele is not a Strat. It is entirely unique. It's a guitar that is well suited for specific techniques, many of which are unlike plating any other guitar, although those techniques can be used on other guitars.
Gatton was an unrecognized Tele-Guru, able to adapt the Tele & his style to play many forms of music. He was unique in his ability & knowledge of Jazz, Rock, etc.
The Tele through a Marshal in the wrong hands is deadly.
The treble will blow your ear drums out. It's painful..
55 year old drummer in 2010... last post two years ago!!!!! Got copy of "88 Elmira Street" Love Danny, sorry ended for your beautiful talent way it did!!!!! Love to all those who knew you, lovely spirit in the World. Will enjoy him till I go to somewhere.
"drop into Nashville , we'll pay ya scale" LOL! I thought the interviewer seemed genuinely taken with Danny, and Danny seemed to appreciate the guy's humor...great performance..
one of the coolest things about danny is that he loves music something a lot of players lose in their quest for technical greatness. i also love these interviews this is really tickling me.
i wasnt insulting the guy it was just funny that he has a mic in his hand because if you'll notice he isnt even talking into it hahaha. im pretty sure its a prop
Danny's playing was great, as always. This video was different though because you get a chance to hear Danny talking some. It was something different. Thanks for uploading it. I'm saving it.
Once referred to as "The greatest guitarist that the world has never known" - Danny Gatton is proof that the brightest flames often burn the quickest.
No decent guitar enthusiast should be without a copy of "88 Elmira Street" - if not, go get a copy now!!
88 elmira street cannot hold a candle to "The Humbler". I think most of his live work was way better than the over production of some of the records. "The Way I Walk" is perhaps one of the meanest sounding songs ever(complete with beer bottle solo).
@dieselpuppy74 .. well said man, danny gatton was one of a kind and he can't be comparred really to anyone else.. his style was his own, probably why u can get a danny gatton model... i have all of his music, and its all great, he wasnt like those other bands who make 1 good album and 5 terrible albums tryin to live off old fame, he was awesome till he died, and not to sound crazy here, but.. picking your own time of death is kind of awesome in its own right, even though i wish he didnt do it..
Danny is as always, aweinspiring and great. But that guy is a douche(not Danny, the interviewer). He just goes off and talks about how great different other guitarists are. D-bag by merit.
Ha! You're right, Norm Ray (the announcer) had NO CLUE who Danny was. I'm the other guitar player on that show & I must say that good old Norm was clueless a lot of the time. He was the kind of guy who was always looking over your shoulder when he was talking to you to see if someone more important was around that he should be talking to. Believe it or not though, we had fun with him. Oh, and the blonde was Carlin Evans - her own biggest fan.
