  • very tallented i am also 16 but at some concerts you can rush without realising. i did at some of my concerts.

  • good skill! but you are playing notes instead of music. Try to seek Beethovenian spirit and add some gentle, sophisticated emotions into it. :-)

  • bravo !! :-)

  • falta mucho para alcanzar una interpretacion perfecta pero te llevas mis sinceros respetos...me gustaria ver mas chicos hacer el trabajo que hiciste...saludos y sigua asi

  • hi, Would this be a level 10 or higher? I wonder how many more years my daughter can play this song. Your son has got all the technics needed to play this song. I believe the feeling and emotion can be developed over time. I wonder if he still plays this piece now?

  • ye its probably level 10, definitely 8+

  • you can get to about grade 8 then everything over that cannot fully be defiined by a level, only as a musician.

  • Thanks for the comment. he plays it like half way through once in a blue moon, but I suggested him to make an improved version one day since most of the comments suggested that he was too rushy. I hope one day he decides to come up with a new version

  • @ckc357 in the ABRSM syllabus, this is an LRSM diploma level piece, though remember that music can't be quantified objectively, so don't take the grade level thing to seriously :)

    i dunno about RCM.

  • Just how old is your son? He looks very young. Props to him to be able to play this piece.

  • Thanks, he was 16

  • Rep 3 -Thanks for your concern. You are 100%. Fortunately, Gabriel is working on the piano on his own right now. As parents we tried, but never imposed or were harshed to him. But when recitals came, we beg him to practice otherwise would be an embarrasment for all of us and this "son of a gun" always get away with it on the last minute, while we had our hearts and stomachs on hold. From this you can figure we never pushed him.

  • lots of technic but where is the pleasure for you player? it seems to be just a show here. Let's try again once more with feelings... you'll done great.

  • "Feelings, nothing more than feelings"

just kidding, this is a piece that Gabriel just learned along with the other two mov. It was hard to focus on the feelings when the guy was more focused on the notes itself. I encouraged Gabriel to go for another version since he is more mature and experienced. I hope he takes your comments into consideration

    Regards

    Hector C

  • So you are his father? Don't push him too hard, we don't want him to stop it all and fall in drugs ^^

Yeah you're right, with more maturity this piece will be better.

  • Understood,

    Thank You

  • Hi,

Sorry for the short and quite harsh answer, my keyboard just die under my fingers in the middle of what i've wanted to say! ^^

    so new one.

When i was young, i've started playing piano because i liked it. But my teacher told my parents i was in good way and maybe i'll be a pianist with work.

My parents made me work hard... and first thing i've done in my teenage crisis was to stop touching piano!

I regret it now, 28 years old, but too late. you're son and me are not same guy, but care ^^

  • oops *not perfect

  • whatever.

    it's beautiful.

just because he's perfect doesn't give you a right to criticize.

  • I love this song and you play very good!

  • too....loud

    Painful for the listener

  • I'm a fan.

  • Very good execution! maybe it's not perfect but after all it's a very complex piece, and can be brought to perfection later on.

And, please, ignore Hate Comments like the previous ones, sometimes people should just shut up instead to criticize others in a so rude manner.

Show us some of your performance, gentelmen

  • Thanks on behalf of Gabriel

  • Was not at all moved by this performance. He has skill but lacks emotion.

And I think it's funny when parents get so wrapped up in things like this, the comments are for him, not you, jackass.

  • This young man has talent, but the piece should be played a little slower. I congratulate him for learning the piece, and I'm positive he can play it better! Keep up the good work!

  • Everything is all wrong... needs a lot of work. You play it worse than I did when I haven't even memorized the notes yet. Needs a lot of work.

  • Mr. Pizzaboy, please show a link or something that shows your virtuosity. Make it live ;-)

  • Played through it and this is a difficult song. He knows it but lacks emotion. Keep playin' Nice video.

  • admirable sir...

I just want to say this: :)

This piece has a lot of technique difficults and a lot of colorations which U didnt actualized...you don't even know the notes well

( go and play bach , NOT BEETHOVEN )...

im sorry for my english but I am really Uneducated..

    Yours sincerely

    ...

  • OK:

Your English is fine, First of all this is a live performance, and also is not the ultimate, neither. Gabriel was not just afraid to take a risk and performed Ok according to his limitations at that time. Some people liked it and some people did not

    Greetings

  • youtube is great, isn't it?you can share your opinions...

    Greetings from london!!!

  • i m sorry for that...

but this guy has no techique...

  • I am sorry, but your credentials in "piercing expertise" does not entitle you for an opinion as a music critique

  • uh....ok sir

  • how old is he???

    he is good!!

in a few years he will be amazing!!

    congratulations!

  • For his age I think this is excellent. It's not the best...but in a few years it might just be! I'll look forward to seeing him in the future.

  • Thank you for the comments, very encouraging. Gabriel will temporarily stop taking piano classes for now to pursue a career in business at Rutgers Univ., but he will comeback eventualy and hopefully post more of his videos

  • mistakes. and has the pedal gone for a walk down the park?

  • Mr. Perfect, any new and constructive comment? , instead of a repeated comment already posted many times. Of course there is a pedal used, very lightly. It should have been more legato I agree

  • i just exprssed my firmly opinion...

    Mr adorable father

    :D

  • Thanks for the comment. I hope gabriel reads these comments and take very seriously all of them

  • Beautiful.

  • the sounds are not very clear regardless of my crappy speaker... also, the music has the feeling of the rushing;;

  • why is everybody thinking that he is a god?

and why isn´t he using the pedal. :O it´s still a pretty ok performance.

  • Regarding the pedal, Gabriel was trying not to abuse it. He was trying overlap the notes. I am also sure he was trying to focus more on the notes. As you notice, he did not have it completely rehersed, you can tell on the other version he performed two weeks before. I don't think people are trying to idolized Gabriel. They might be a little impressed because of his age and how brave he is to perform this with little rehersal, But this is not nothing from space. Thank You

  • oh ok I see, it still sounds pretty good anyhow ;)

  • an observation: why didn't he use the pedal? He played technically perfect and I liked it, but I wonder why not the pedal?!!! may i know?

  • Regarding the pedal, Gabriel was trying not to abuse it. He tried overlapping the notes. I am also sure he was trying to focus more on the notes. As you notice, he did not have it completely rehearsed, you can tell on the other version he performed two weeks before. The one with the green background.

  • Im sorry, I replied under the wrong box, so yeah it still sounds pretty good, and that guy made such an appropiate comment, I think he's just jealous. Im trying to learn that sonata cause it is my favorite, but if i see someone that plays it I just admire that person cause it's not easy and indeed Gabriel is very young to do those things, and it's not easy to perform in public too, so it is a merit ;)

Espero yo tambien jajajaj!!!!!

  • A question from "thebestguitarist92",

Does anybody have an adaptation for the guitar of the Tempest Sonata?

  • wow this is very good. For how long did you play the piano at the time of this recording?

  • Gabriel has been playing from the age of 9 1/2. he was 16

  • Ey aqui un latino, keep it up man, suenas de fábula, llevalo al limite y sigue asi, trabajando un poco los pedales y con bolos y mas bolos a tus espaldas llegaras alto, hermano.

  • This is amazing! I'm learning to play that song, and I hope I can get to play it that way! Beautiful,

PS. Make the pedal stand out a bit more

  • about the only thing I think that would make this better is to use the pedals a bit more. This is amazing - I'm jealous :)

  • you have a great future .....GOOD LUCK gabriel

  • u nid to work on ur pedal coz some parts nid a couple more pedal and some parts muddy due 2 it, but GOOD JOB

  • An aspiring young man. If he keeps studying and practicing he'll be a great pianist the world will talk about. Keep up the good work, Gabriel.

  • very good, i respect you

  • ur so fucking great! please cant u make a movie when u show how ti play this song?

    please answer me =P

  • Great performance, Nice speed but I would say you need more pedal especially in the beginning and change it regularly, fix up those little gaps and wrong notes out and it will be an awesome performance.

  • You need to work on your posture and it sort of sounds like your fingers are stiff. It's probably just because your nervous. Try making the song more fluid and smooth.

  • Usted es Latino?

    Je ne sais pas ca.

    ;)

Keep practicing, my friend. It sounds very good.

  • Gabriel is of Brazilian and Peruvian ascendence. He loves soccer (Futbol). I think he's got something of Portuguese, Spaniard, Araucano (Chilean), Dutch and German and of course some African in his remote heritage ;-)

  • hxc4328 - He sounds like moi: French, Irish, German, American Indian, and of course, some African in my remote heritage. Funny, how he and I both look more remotely African.

    ;)

He's doing very well, and seems very motivated. 'Love his vids!

    Ciao!

  • geez your good . my piano teacher has to like scan out the music for me so i can play and she gave me this and the bottom of the second page doesnt even show! anyways you play good . oh try playing hungarian dances . its hard but you could play it really good i think

  • Hi, you play this piece very well! You play it technical very good, but I think a lot of emotion is missing. The risk is that it will be very boring to listen. By seeing this video I'm convinced you have the skils to play it, the following step is making real music of it! Good luck!

  • Great job, but I think there should have been more pedal.

  • Simplemente maravilloso! estoy muy impresionada con tu interpretacion y me siento muy orgullosa de que seas mi sobrino.

    Felicitaciones

    Rossana Lema

    Lima - Perú

  • Gracias Rossana

  • A few mistakes in this one and the other one you played, but I make far more of them. You're playing very difficult pieces. Just go over some of the troubled areas, and you're on your way!!!!

    Overally, I LOVE your playing.

  • o thats good....me and my friend met gabriel in the teen arts in UCC (the one in cranford) he plays real good

  • how long did it take gabriel to learn this

  • about 3-4 months, He studied along with the other two movements

  • WOW. WOW. I listen to this constantly

(p.s. I hope you gave a severe beating to the guy who's cellphone went off at 3:30)
