Excellent technique. Great distance covered, and the cut was broad yet expedite. However, I must say that the cut lacked control. I say this based on the grounds that the platform holding the wara fell. Still an impressive cut though, I must say.
Reckon you are entitled to your opinion; would be most impressed to see someone cut a single target free-standing on a piece of bamboo not much bigger than the target itself and leave both standing.
Looks like first Musho Sinden kata Mae cut. Would have been nice to have vertical cut following, to make kata complete and chiburi and noto. Of course if the intention was to use MAe kata form. Anyway, good technique!
I was the one who filmed and actually put the wara on the stand. I can confirm that the wara was not pre-cut. I've seen him do this a hundred freakin times too. The Ren-man is awesome.
Nice!!!

Why do you finish by looking downwards? I don't do any of the iaido forms, but shouldn't you finish by looking forward?

We look downwards as we do not take our eyes of the fallen opponent.

I do not practice Musoshinden ryu and was not doing the kata Mae. I practice Mugairyu Iaihyodo, Meishi-ha.

It didn't matter if the target was pre-cut, it was his technique that really shined.
