I agree and disagree. Yes, indie music is just independent music, but it has also become a genre in itself IMO and lots of other peoples. Indie bands tend to have a noticibly different sound from major labels and because of that people have started to classify indie music as not just independent bands, but also a "sound"

@untuned92 A specific label doesn't effect sound, and I never said it did. For example look at the biggest major label bands, and the biggest indie label bands. Then tell me the indie labels bands sound isn't more similar to eachother than the major labels are to them. Obviously this isn't a exact science. The truth is when people ask what good indie bands are people tend to recommend bands based on their "sound" rather than what their label is. Which is basically what I said.
