  • that sonds like a thunder bolt 1003 on level 6

  • 0:36 you see a cop car

  • @molmuis Good catch! I didn't notice that until you pointed it out. Everytime I see this video I remember getting nailed by hail blowing sideways about 1/2 mile east of that location about 2 minutes prior.

  • scary! and loud siren! yep

  • @MrTornadoman2 The closer, louder one is a Whelen siren with an early digital controller (440hz tone) and further away you can hear a Thunderbolt running on chopper level 5 or 6.

  • why do have the tornao a special name for sirene?

  • i could hear thunderbolt1003 wow

  • Comment removed

  • Any person who's heard these sirens numerous times and been in a few tornados gets goosebumps. Haha

  • @83jjewel I would LOL

  • @Tyannalyn Hahaha yah it's creepy as hell.

  • Not seeing a funnel/ vortex but the sirens were pretty loud lol

  • Talk about atmospheric! Brilliant video :)

  • whoever is next to the siren r.i.p

  • they made wheelens in 98

  • Wow nice ;)

  • I bet the funnel just stayed in the clouds, I hate it when that happens ¬_¬

  • i love the sound of sirens, especially a thunderbolt 1000T

  • was u ok cAuse u was out of the car it looked like?

  • There sounding the wrong tone, There sounding ALL CLEAR/High Noon not Alert/Atack tone, go figure...

  • i heard a t-bolt!!!

  • love this sound!

  • there used to be a perfect storm on chicago, have my city lost power, and as soon as a lighting struck, mt tv shut off!! that's how bad it was. i think it was in august 2010, not too long from now

  • Nice Thunderbolt Siren!

  • Pyramid Head has been spotted, head to the church! lol

  • That is beyond creepy man! But I love that thunderbolt! It adds to the eerie atmosphere so well!

  • tactical nuke inbound! its over

  • if i heard this i would not record it i would not like it ID RUN FOR MY LIFE!!!

  • The Thunderbolt sounds awesome! Nice video and audio!

  • @model2siren - In the heart of Gainesville Texas. I -35 southbound ramp.

  • @HighDesertNews i had a horrible perfect storm in Chicago. Half my city was off, sirens went off, AND TORNADOES WERE EASILY HIDDEN IN THE STORM IN THE RAIN!!! I WAS PRETTY FREAKED OUT because i kept worring if it would hit my home

  • i was half way expecting a tornado to drop it of the sky

  • Tornado warnings are terrible, we get them all the time x

  • thunderbolt! nice to hear a good old thunderbolt still in operation.

  • Gainesville has a ACA P-50/ ASC T-135AC

  • i cant help it i love this kind of weather. it scares the crap out of me but my curious side just gets the better of me. I stand outside looking for anything...anything that looks like a lowering, or a tornado. saw one a few years ago..ive never been the same. i want to chase these things..but...well money, responsibilities at home..etc. (sigh)

  • im hearing a tbolt 1000T and maybe a whelen or something electronic...

  • I think these sirens are a dreadful sound...it's like the feeling of doom rather than a warning. I hate them worse when they go off at 1 AM in the morning..then panic sets in big time. I even hate these things when they get tested on a bright sunny day.

  • this may sound crazy but, i actually wanna see a tornado, like see from a distance, but i dont what to get to close cause i would be like OH !#%&

  • This..looks...AWESOME! I live in Connecticut, so I've never experienced one of these OR an actual tornado :(

  • Did a tornado actually form then?

  • @ihavealotoffunnyfavz - Not to my knowledge. Just golf ball sized hail and strong winds. There could have been a funnel in there somewhere but I never saw it.

  • Run away, drivers! Run away!

  • iv been in one of those 3 wow was i freaked i was out side with my cousin and the sky turned green and we were like wtf??? then we hear the siren go off and then he tells me what it was then we went to basement but this sound gives me the goose bumps

  • i want to hear a siren in real life, in australia we dont have tornadoes or those sirens.

  • @eturn41 correction: yes you do have tornadoes...there just not as common in australia.

  • @856956sinewavetones so now you think you know everything about WHERE I LIVE AND WHERE YOU DONT LIVE!!!!! f off

  • @eturn41 NO! i just have facts to back me up that there have been SOME tornadoes in Australia. All i was saying was it is inaccurate to say: "Austarlia never gets tornadoes" WHEN THEY HAVE ON RARE OCCASIONS! I Never even claimed to know everything about your nation because in truth I DONT KNOW EVERYTHING! I just know Aussies have seen twisters in their area too and that tornadoes are not unique to places like the Great Plains or the Ohio, Tennesee, and Mississippi River Valleys

  • @856956sinewavetones It was a figure of speech, we only get tornados like once every few years or so as we know off..

  • Comment removed

  • @eturn41 As long as you are NOT literally saying it then ok.

  • Looks like the end of the world

  • *singing* It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

  • @georgieporge2I thought that it was

  • @georgieporge2 My thoughts exactly.

  • i hear a 1000 probably a T

  • 1000T, 8 rpm

    Whelen 4004/R4 x 2

Whelen 3016 x 2 (One with the newer 560 hZ tones)

    Those are the heard sirens

  • i lived here most of my life and there are no whelen sirens. Just 2001s, Thunderbolts, and P-50s

  • love the noise it makes

  • what´s that strange noise at 0.42 ?

  • sounds like a T1000..i think.

  • T1000 made of liquid metal lol

  • That strange noise your mentioning would be a Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1000T Siren. Those kind of Tornado Sirens make a buzzsaw roar sound in the distance.

  • Yes I agree. I thought it may have been a Federal 2t22. But said siren does not rotate.

  • Thats a tornado siren called the Thunderbolt 1000,1000T or 1003

  • @EierHelge Thunderbolt 1000T/1003

  • where was this?

  • In the heart of Gainesville Texas. I -35 southbound ramp.

  • @HighDesertNews hey whats a wall cloud

  • @sk8erbails - A lowered cloud base, usually part of a mesocyclonic thunderstorm (rotating storm), and near the strongest portion of the updraft. Usually the southwest portion of the storm. The most common place for a tornado to form is near the wall cloud, and in some cases can become the tornado itself.

  • it was real!

  • BRUTAL!!!!!

  • Cool, once i was in my car then i saw trees falling.

I was just on a road next to houses. I was alone.

    Scary!

  • thunderbolt, 3t22 and maby a sth 10

  • I hear a lower pitched siren in there too, quite possibly an RM-130/127

  • my city doesnt have these sirens, because maine doesnt really have tornados..

  • Silent Hill?

  • Apocalipse!

  • damn, if i heard that in my city i would freak

  • i hear a T-Bolt! Awesome!

  • 1:05 lightnig looks awwsome

  • oh my god! Were you in the car!? or on foot!

  • Car. Just got out long enough to look around some.

  • wow! u must of been scared

  • Tornado sirens send chills up your back in real life. If your shopping and they start up, its cool, interesting, but nonetheless scary.

  • storm predator is better than spotter

  • HI HighDesertNews my name is Cortex I just you video and I like it, I will be scied if a Tornado came to my town

Great Video and I lsestion to the National Weather Service. all the time

  • HighDesertNews: r u a storm chaser?

  • Yes. I'm also a storm spotter for the National Weather Service.

  • *gasps* r u on the weather channel??

  • No. I run into them in the field though.

  • which means...?

  • I see them periodically while chasing.

  • have u ever been in the middle of one?

  • Not yet. But I had 3 windshields broken in 1 season from hail.

  • ouch! have u ever gotten hit hard by a piece of hail?

  • Is this tornado in Elie, Manitoba?

  • No. Was shot in Gainesville, Texas in June of 98.

  • That's a very loud siren!

  • Its sonic properties have nothing to do with the port interval. 5/6 = minor third interval = 4 semitones apart

    4/5 = major third interval = 5 semitones apart

How sharp, dull, high pitched or low pitched it is has absolutely nothing to do with the port ratio.

  • It sounds like a 5/6 to me. :)

  • Are you sure that Thunderbolt being heard in this video is a 4/5 Port? To me it sounds like a regular 5/6 Port running on chopper level 6 at a lower voltage. I am not meaning to correct you, I just don't hear how its a 4/5 Port.

  • Actually I think its a T-128.

  • I can hear a Thunderbolt 1000T and the howling siren might be a Thunderbolt 1000 if I am not mistaken.

  • i hear thonder bolt high town

  • creepy sound..... i LOVE IT!!!!!

  • THER IZ DEFINITLY A 1000T AT LEAST

  • Ah music to my ears!

  • hmmm...do they still use the 3t22?

  • I'm not sure what a 3t22 is, assuming it's a siren.

Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine so much interest in what types of sirens there were in this video. I just know all of them mean I'm in the right place at the right time. :)

  • look it up, theres a bunch of vids...

  • Oh yeah, we're a bunch of sirens nuts on Youtube. ;)

  • there wasnt a 3t22 here and i live 5 miles west of here

  • Thats how I want any day. Dark clouds, and a good old siren blaring in the background. There is a thunderbolt in there?

  • sounds like it

  • sounds like a broken shop-vac

  • that is just scary!

  • Tornado skies and sirens have their own built in chill factor: hear that sound and I cringe. Awesome vid!

    *StormSpinner1* in Texas

  • 1000000000000000000000000 sirens

  • I would be terrified!

  • That is the most erie noise I've ever heard. AWESOME video.

  • this is an awesome vid. its a really tense atmosphere!

  • i think there's a t-bolt 1003..

  • Nope, no Thunderbolt 1003s in Gainesville. When they still had Thunderbolts they were all 1000s and 1000Ts. I own one of the Thunderbolt 1000s. Now Gainesville has a system of 2001s and a T-135 north of town.

  • Whoa! T-135s ARE TOTALLY HUGE AND WICKED LOUD!!!!!

  • i know the sirens are so scary i live in california id like to go to the midwest for a week and expirence it

  • aww man its crazy, i live in oklahoma and if u were to come here, u would definitly get ur thrill!

  • ya i bet i would

  • u really would, its so awesome!

  • sounds like a thunderbolt and a vortex

  • I'm not sure what kind of siren the dominant one is. I heard that they might have had an RM-127 (battery operated P-10). To my knowledge, Gainesville has never had any electronic sirens.

  • Was the during the day or night?

  • Evening.

  • and a 4004!

  • i doubt 4004's and 2001's existed in 1998

  • yea they did.

  • when it fads in and out it sounds so cool like i could trip out on that sound all the time

  • Lol those sirens sound like the robots in War of the Worlds!

  • hahaha i know

  • i live in that town

  • Those harmonics that fade in and out sound so sweet.

  • it's so creepy

i think it sounds like suspensful movie

  • coool

  • you dont hear a thunderbolt but there is one a few miles away. two you hear are fs 2001s

  • was this in april 05 or 06? i dont remember sirens going off since may 07 because of a funnel cloud.

  • It was shot June, 1998. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for letting me know.

  • I can hear a thunderbolt 1000 & 1000t.

  • "Any chaser will appreciate the goosebumps of tornado sirens." Hell yeah man!

  • you dont hear a thunderbolt but there is one a few miles away. one you hear is an fs 2001

  • cool

  • and a whelen vortex 4004

  • At :40 I think I hear a Thunderbolt.

  • i hear fs2001's and an allertor

  • least u can hear yours....they dissconected the one closest to my house so the next closest one is about not quite a half mile away..and cant hear it at all....so u either watch the news or go with ur gut....but i live in michigan and u can never predict the weather here....

  • the tornados ware?

  • As far as I know, there wasn't one. But shortly before this video was shot, we were blasted by hail (horizontal golfball sized hail), about 1/2 mile east of the location I shot this.

  • yep, thats a wall cloud alright

  • i know thats,weird though

  • thanks for getting bk just wondered if it was like the type i own JVC now i can start using Canon FS100 for storms this yr and JVC GZ-MG330

  • what camcoder was used for this video awesome for night shots and youtube didnt down grade it much if it did .....

  • A Panasonic AG-455 S-VHS camcorder with standard RCA VHS tape. It's an obsolete model now, unfortunately.

  • I do hear a thunderbolt siren in there as well as a T-128

  • hey, this is gainesville, tx and thats not a thunderbolt, its a federal 2001.

  • i witnessed one tornado in my whole life ands its a great expiernce..but hearing those sirens gives me goosebumps..but still cool when it lands

  • I heard the Tbolt too. Hot footage.

  • its a low toned t 128 siren

  • Cool video.

  • That deeper sounding siren sounds mechanical to me. It does not have that typical Whelen sound. My guess would be either T-128 or the T-135 ac/dc.

  • t bot~~~~~~~ YAY

  • i think the other ones a whelen

  • and *I* hear a T-135 as well!

  • ahhh I hear a thnderbolt!!!
