@MEGADakota2: i have zero issue with you believing that. But since it's not a meat puppets song, I'll have to stick with what I know. (check the copyright, its Geffens copyright and MP have never been signed to Geffen.)
Weezer aint Nirvana....I personally think they sold out...Weezer were one of my fav groups until this past album...its more pop then alt...they have influenced alot of the bands today my fav group right now Manchester Orchestra list them as there main influence...i just wished Weezer stayed true to there old ways instead of selling out
@imdan1182 the phrase selling out is thrown about everywhere mind. Nirvana sold out with 'Nevermind' by signing to a major label, especially to their old punk purist friends. almost all successful and great bands have 'sold out'. Rivers is a great songwriter and it would be unfair for us to restrict him to the one genre, and i am happy that he loves to branch out to other styles like pop, even though i prefer his old music. i'd rather have him and his music to evolve than stay the same. :)
@guardianlink12345 oh. it's not wrong at all. weezer was/is a post grunge band. they're both kings of the alternative music scene. plus the fact that weezer love nirvana and nirvana (well dave grohl at the very least) love weezer; so it is only fitting even though they may not be completely the same. both brilliant bands. :)
They are two groups developed from the same cloth. Weezer and Nirvana are both (at the most basic level) early 90's alternative rock bands from the USA. Both inspired by the same groups, both following similar musical trends (simple progressions, strong tones, subtle vocal harmony etc.) Nirvana is like Weezer's older brother who likes to drink and party, Weezer is like the younger brother who decided to go to college instead.
Not to wall-of-text, but look up Paperface by Weezer. Nirvana may have done it first, and/or better (I'm not trying to argue either of those points), but Weezer did it too.
Are you watching the same video as me? I'm pretty sure he's trying his hardest *points* right there to be Rivers Cuomo, lead singer and guitarist for the world renowned troupe known as-- the Weezers. But, seriously, he knows he's Rivers and he loves Kurt and Nirvana, but he knows he's Rivers.
this is one of the few bands i woundlnt mind seeing do more nirvana covers, as weezer were nirvanas label mates, as well as being the same kind of style and attitude is nirvana. I think Mudhoney and pissed jeans should do nirvana covers too.. that would be cool
some people ( HARDCORE nirvana fans) think that kurt never died. They think he staged his death and is acctualy Rivers Cuomo... the lead singer from weezer.

It's cool to hear this song done by Weezer cause Rivers has such a pop voice and Kurt had such a raspy, grungey voice. it works well

WHAT!?! no, Nirvana and Weezer are almost opposites on the musical spectrum. This is wrong.

@guardianlink12345
Rivers Cuomo used to play metal before and he was also a big Nirvana fan. If you listen to some early demos his voice sound kinda raspy.
