  • Awesome video, awesome plane, hope you dont mind if I steal few ideas from you?

  • @KardanAutos not at all. Do a google search for "Klaar, Auster mk1 140 cm. Maidenvideo"and you will find a build log on modelbouwforum.nl.

  • @PHAJH Thank you very much. Once again - outstanding work. I just have 1 question, what kind of paint do you use? acrylic? because most of the paints I tried damages depron, so I am using color packing tape, but it doesnt look that good as paint.

  • @KardanAutos You're welcome. Try to make a flat bottom wing. Mine had very bad stall characterstics.... (and did not survive). The paint used is ordinary acryllic wall paint....applied with a roller. Works ok as you can see. The finish will always be matte though.

  • from italy: bellissimo!! c'è un progetto? mi puoi dare il progetto? ====> translate===> very nice!are there a project? can you give me this project? tks!!! :)

  • Muy bueno. De aca, Argentina.

  • zajebisty

  • Very good job. Do we have a chance see her fly?

  • @arsitama Please read the description.....

  • Arjan wat is er uiteindelijk gebeurd met je Auster? Op je site staat dat je hem niet meer vliegt toch?

Toch mooi zoals je hem helemaal vanaf niks gebouwd hebt;)

    Groet Rick

  • @RickRR22 doe es zoeken op het forum naar "Auster PH_AJH"" . Dan vindt je het bouwverslag. En ga dan naar post #108........

    Dag hoor!

    Arjan

  • its only 59 seconds!

  • @ipadize Not when you start the video. Look at the counter in the bottom left corner :-) (I must admit you scared me there for a second LOL)

  • Qual a expessura do depron?

  • @JRENTROIA 6mm for the ribs, wingspars, tailplane surfaces and the bottom skin of the wing. The rest is 3mm.

  • on peut avoir les plan?

  • @toine591 Hi, there are no plans. It was scratch built.

  • on peut avoir les plan?

  • how can you be bothered hahaha

  • what materials of the plane

  • @bastiancoli uhhh depron

  • @PHAJH And Balsa wood?

  • @masicklazik no. Some parts (the brown ones) are plywood, as stated before.

  • @bastiancoli and plywood

  • Very nice build. I wish I have the patient to build something like that.

    Where is the flying video?

  • @arsitama >Where is the flying video? See description.

  • @arsitama and plywood

  • :( i wish i could build like this. everytime i try, it completely sucks. i tried to build a cub out of styrafoam and just sanded it all and it just will NOT fly. I have tried countless times trying to get the cg right. Now it flies for like 4 seconds then all the sudden rolls over and nose dives :( i just give up. spent like 3 weeks working on it for nothing. i guess ill just keep buying my planes

  • how much did all this coast u???

  • @gnikishin First of, this is Europe so it is all a lot more expensive then in the USA. Building material (Depron/plywood) 10 euro Glue 10 euro Paint 15 euro 4 servo's 30 euro motor, ESC, receiver 75 euro servo wires and control horns/rods 10 euro ========== Total 140 euro Lipo Battery 50 euro
  • @PHAJH don't forget the chargers! I'm building an rc plane out of balsa and I've already spent more than 200€ on it! The most expensive part is the receiver and the chargers...

  • Very nice.

  • very good job! it looks like out of the shop

  • depron is great :) no more solar film for me lol ps just startind a Auster mk 4 type themed plane regards james

  • Hey just wondering where do u get the plans or is it from years of experiences

by the way dont u have a video of the maiden flight ?

  • @AuroraCypher

    Hi,

This plane is very loosely based on a very old plan of a gas-powered model. For the maiden and more flights see the description.

    Cheers,

    Arjan

  • very lovely ! thanks for sharing 5 stars

    well DONE

  • thats amazing nice one keep it up

    regards steve

  • fantastic!!! great!!

  • Grazie :-)

I see you have built a depron bi-plane, nice! Does it fly?

    Ciao,

    Arjan

  • Really good.

  • GREAT JOB. did you use any wood in the wings to keep them straight and to give them support or they all foam? I'm gonna attempt to build a 73" span A-10 from depron was wondering if it was possible to sheet the wings with foam and i seen your video.. thanks for posting.

  • Hi,

No, there is no wood in the wings. They are pretty stiff without as long as you build a relatively thick wing. An A10 would have thinner wings which might be a problem. Also, the Auster has wingstruts. So the forces are distributed at 4 points (2 struts, 2 attachments to the fuselage) which reduce forces. I think a thinner, un-strutted wing could use a wooden or carbon spar.

The depron sheeting is plenty strong, similar to balsa sheeting.

  • @PHAJH thanks for the reply

  • impressive

  • can you send me the building plan pls???

  • There is no plan, I'm sorry. I just cut the depron, sanded to shape and that's it.

  • where can you buy the kit??? how long do you worked??

  • Kit? This is a scratch built aircraft, I really do not know how long it took me, couple of hours for sure but depron is very easy to work with. A lot of time went into "head scratching" and hard thinking :-)

  • nice job though ;)

  • if u wud hav made this into a 10 part build along ud hav a lot more fans and alot more respect....

    does it fly ???

    wot does it weigh ???

    wot power system ???

how hard can it be ???

  • @bratstarr Can you read a description? Try it sometime!!

  • HOLY SHIT my man, cant believe that went unnoticed by me...i can only asume that a late hour and a fair amount of beer leads 2 tunnel vision and not seeing sidebars...

SO i say thx 4 the info and "SORRY" 4 the comment which i shall leave there 4 all 2 c how much of a drunken twunt i am...

as b4 keep up the good work...

    Bratstarr

  • No problem.

    Cheers!

    Arjan

  • is there any aerodinamical problem with using foam in direct contact with the air?

  • not that I am aware of

  • it may exist...

  • Please help me out here...what aerodynamical problems are you thinking of? There are millions of depron aircraft out there. I really do not know what problem there could be.

  • @PHAJH I give you an answer by personal message to include some links..

  • Thank you. But:: do a Google search on model "aircraft surface roughness".......

"For reducing parasite drag the biggest factors are the apparent cross section area and the wetted area (....) Surface roughness also plays a part (but its not as simple as smoother the better: sometimes a rough surface can keep air flow attached to the wing - "turbulators" are a PhD study on their own!).

  • @molinobeer I have made three depron's bipes wh'o's are only 20% covered by paint, alkyde cans, and you can see in my videos, they're flying perfectly, very stable and smooth fly... There's a little difference with Phajh's one, mine is a flat wings profile (6mm), but fuselage is "fat"

  • RLY GOOD JOB !!

  • good job man!!

  • awesome!!!!!!!

  • Beauty!. Amazing 5 star + favorite. keep it up!

  • Do you know where i can get some cheap depron sheets for building RC plane? Or the type of foam used by hefty for their foam plates (flexible Styrofoam). Or are they called depron? I saw some in lowes the other day buy they are corrugated. I want to know where I can get them as flat sheets, at cheap lowes price. Anyone know?

  • Comment removed

  • is this a plan model?

where can i buy or download this plan?

  • No, it isn't. It is based on an old plan for a Auster AOP9 with a combustion engine but otherwise scratch-built.

  • That's a beauty. Have you posted flight vids?

  • Yes I have. See the info window for the links. Or just take a look at my videos...

    Cheers

    Arjan

  • Watched the flights. Nice work! I'm thinking I'll be moving from coroplast to depron!

  • Beautiful, a friend of mone used to own an Auster G-APVG and he tool me flying in he during his lunch hours, would love to build one and do it as his and take it to show him

  • Hi, Good video, and the RC Depron got very good, congratulations for the ability, I think that now I can try to do something, Rgds from São Paulo / Brasil

  • Brilliant. I wish I had the skills and the patience to do that.

  • Hi,

Depron is very cheap and very easy to work with. A lot easier than wood. If you like it, give it a try! Build a simple shockflyer - you'll be amazed at what you can do.

    Cheers!

    Arjan

  • where can i buy the engine and what size is it

  • The engine is a Himodel 2217/08 brushless. A Google search will answer all your questions :-)

  • 6mm bottom, 3mm top. Glue at a right angle at the leading edge, then sand to round it off.

    Cheers,

    Arjan

  • Tout simplement beau et bien fait .

  • Merci beaucoup.

  • I'd love to see a fokker D.XXI in this scale flying ;)

  • Kudos for the dutch triangle.

  • Yeah....maybe not historically correct but it's so nice.

  • Auster. Powered. Yeah baby!

  • Huge!!!!
