@bungiebobawsome Thanks for pointing out some pretty detailed facts there. The answer is while I wanted to model the structure more accourately, I found that particularly small and tightly spaced objects would mess up with importing to the Sandbox so I had to reduce the # of columns. Oh yes again, I did try to chamfer the corners but the engine had problems accepting the design. The roof I kept flat for simplicity but yes, there were again the decks on top ;). The size though I feel is right

It may be a few feet off but again it was more the hassle of trying to have the Sandbox accept varying complexities of model (or lack thereof) rather than not knowing the facts. @robloxkingvids Hey I know I'm slightly off - this video was made before tower heights were official. Now that Burj Khalifa is 830 meters / 2,715 feet and with Nakheel Tower possibly being delayed or cancelled due to the economy (thus no final height released yet), I can admit that I'm slightly off on my numbers.  NHT is far far beyond 2,000 feet though! Burj Khalifa is already over 2,700 so... yeah.

@KingWilliamMB Hi King. They're listed right as the video opens... At the time of doing this video though, the Burj wasn't completed yet so I over-estimated the height of it slightly by about 40 meters. Nakheel Tower - if it ever gets built - may be 1,200 meters or higher... or lower. Hard to say. Only the WTC Tower is accurate to it's height. 415 meters for Tower 1. Hope that helps.

@KingWilliamMB Hi King. Nope sorry I've not released the map at this time.  I simply modeled the buildings with 3ds Max though and you can always get a free trial of that online. Simply look for the Crysis plugin and you can probably do this yourself ^^. The engine had a particularly difficult time importing the buildings though which explains the faceting of some parts. Scale also had to be increased by 300% usually to obtain real heights for some reason.

Yeah, of all the buildings, obviously the WTC model had solid numbers when I made this comparison. Keep in mind that it's not so much as having been a small building, just that these newer ones are absolutely gargantuan!

The Sears Tower is already 1,450 feet high. Unless major plans call for an extensive revision to Nakheel's plans (and with the current climate it may be so), I don't see them shortening the tower to such a "low" height.

It may not be 1,400 meters in the end but it certainly will be far beyond 1,400 feet until we know otherwise.

I think your facts are confused. Burj Dubai is an estimated 818 meters high until the official measurement by the CTBUH upon completion. Nakheel Harbor and Tower (aka Nakheel Tower) is purported to be a minimum of 1,000 meters and probably higher.

This is incredible work to present the magnitude of skyscrapers utilizing Crytek thats an amazing game engine. I once in my best effort made the CN tower in toronto in Unrealed with working scenic elevators(movers) lol. My interpretation of the pod details was crude since years ago web images were scarce to reference inside what the actual inner structure was like. It was tedious/ fun and the scalable ratio of the was somewhat accurate to the player size! I'd like to see Crysis maps like this!

Hi Peite. Actually it wasn't too long since I was just doing rough model tests. About 2 or 3 days in CryEngine and maybe a week combined for all the towers in CAD and Max. Off and on, probably two weeks to do the entire thing. Obviously texturing and more accurately making the towers would take far longer.

Did you by any chance use autodesk revit architecture? Its a type of 3ds max for structures

I don't think I had Revit specifically. I did use trials of 3ds Max 9 and 2009 though. I'm sure Revit could give greater structural design / control though. These were really just quick massing models and they still took awhile :)

WTC was about a day, Burj was 3 or 4 days, Nakheel Tower was a day or two as it's a little simpler to model. Definitely a few hours. I'm lucky the engine would import the models as-is. Texturing such large buildings would need a far more amount of effort for it to work correctly. Might do that in the future, don't know yet.

Hahah! You'd spread out your arms and skydive F.O.R.E.V.E.R XD. Actually oddly enough due to the engine still having issues with the model, only the WTC is "solid". I could fly through the BD and NT if I wanted to. Why, I don't know. But yeah, there is enough room to get that chopper to land on the cylindrical lower portion of the tower between the fins ^^.
