Same here guys my 99 dakota sport 4x4 5speed cold air kit, 3.55 gears and motor bored/ ported /polished on 33" tires beat a 5.4lv8 f150 today i even got a bad start and mines the v6! Its a mean little truck

turn the over drive off... and on my dakota it only hits 100 and then it has like a governer on it or throttle stop. does anyone know what it is?

@MiyagiDoKarate I only got on mine once, I got up to 120 with OD on then I thought this is crazy, it was some fool that couldnt keep a constant speed and I had cruise on and we was side by side for 5 miles and I said enough. After slowing down and getting in behind they would slow down to 60. I finally said screw this and punched it. Still handled fine at 120 also. Dont know about this governer everyone is talking about, mine was a 2002

what gear does it have? seems like the 3.55... i love the feeling when the powerband kicks in when ur in 3th right about 3500RPM... and its loud as hell at 5000RPM too and i love it when you tell them its stock

tht's actually not bad for a 2001 :) Mines a 2000 got about 150k. 4x4 sport, it's slower than my grandpa and makes more noise than a rocket. Love it to death though- grips the road and is the safest thing i've been in. barley made a dent when someone hit the side of me at 55mph. walked awhay without any injury's and the truck had no damage

looks like 0-60 in about 8-8.5 and to 100 in 27-28 seconds. it this a ext cab or what? just asking. i have an 08 f150 4.2L reg cab short bed 5spd with a cold air intake and i get 9.58 to 60, with a better launch maybe 9.3ish. would be quicker if i didnt have to shift into 3rd at 55mph. with a 3.31 rearend they get about 8.5-9 because it is still in 2nd at 60(no shift time). mine is a 3.55 and is almost crazy fast to 30 for a 4364Lbs truck with a V6. takes about 29-30 seconds.

the 4.7 is tottally the way to go if your getting a bran new truck, they achieve upwards of 30MPG and 310HP they blow the doors off of mustangs too. i have a 08 3.7 liter chipped, intake straight pipe, underdrive pulleys, my truck sits over 300HP and its the same size as the V8, so if you upgrade your truck at all, the 4.7 is the way

a 4.7 wouldent get 30mpg if you pushed it and that 310hp is to the flywheele not the rear wheeles

both have the 4.7

power wise the newer 4.7 has clos eto 300hp but it could be a little under.

actually, you can get a cold air intake, catback exhaust, and from what ive read, edelbrock makes a carb conversion kit for it now, including intake, gaskets and carb. my 2002 gets about 17 city, 22 highway (on cruise control) and does zero to 60 in a little over 6. 105k miles, stock, k&n airfilter and 3.55 stock diff, limited slip. now if only it didnt shut down at 100...

there is always the 5.9l V8 r/t version. that's fast. and then the 6.1l srt-8 jeep grand cherokee. that's fastest then your s-10. and then there's the 8.3l srt-10 dodge ram. those aren't small. i mean 8.3l gasoline not diesel. that's big

These things werent made to race. They were made to be used as a truck. You can drop a hemi in one for about 2500. The 4.3 may be close in size but is has nowhere near the power and similar mpg.

just so you know the late model 5.7L chevy's arent 350 cid...they are 346cid..same with the new hemi's....do your homework.

i honestly never looked up the trucks but i know when the camaro/ trans am went to the LS1 in 98 it was a 346ci. the LT1s were 350 which was 93-97. i had a 96 and it would put you back in your seat wayyyy more than a dakota r/t or a 350 in a s10 unless the S10 had the LT1 also. my t/a i clocked at 5.85 to 60 and it was rated 5.6 to 60 with a 14.0 1/4 @101mph. i never tried the 1/4. there is a vid on here of an LT1 s10 racing a camaro or trans am with an LT1 or LS1(cant remember what year it is)

Yea i love my 4.7 durango, bad transmissions in these things though...but i guess it expected because of all dodges seem to have trans. problems
