He lost me with his so called health care "reform." Health and wellness is something I'm incredibly passionate about so him pushing this SICK care (as opposed to HEALTH care) agenda really turned me off. The final nail was this new Afghanistan operation. I will say though I'm not surprised. I don't believe any of this stuff is really his (or any presidents) decision. I think the last president to truly think and act progressively was JFK. All the positive energy seems to be waning doesn't it?
I thought about Obama, but I wound up writing in Mike Huckabee, as he's the only one of the original pack of candidates that my view were most fully aligned with, and he was truly anti-mud slinging in his campaign, which I liked a lot. That being said, Obama should be a decent president, so long as he sticks to his campaign promises.
Me too! This was the first time my son got to vote. He's 18. I was just as excited for him as I was on his first day of school. Especially for such a historical election. I was so happy that Obama won. You are right, he motivates people. I think he will do a wonderful job.
Even though I'm a McCain supporter, I really respect you in the fact that your voted and you know exactly why you voted for who you did. We'll find out who's going to be president in a few short hours. Good luck.
Well put reasoning. I agree with you Obama did do a great job so far, and will continue to positively motivate people. That's why I will be happy when he wins even if I don't think he really was the best choice (Kucinich was my first choice).
That being said, since Obama has a strong lead in NY, I did end up voting third party, McKinney myself because of the issues. I felt it better to make a statement & stick up for what I believe in rather then to just add another vote to the old system.
Seriously Joe, very thoughtful and interesting breakdown of why you cast your vote the way you did. Those of us not in the battleground states have an easier time voting strictly on policy positions and in the past I've gone third party myself. I believe the two-party system limits our choices and the very discussion itself. But for similar reasons to yours, Obama earned my vote this year.
Well said on all accounts. I struggled with Biden's internet policies...He's no friend to internet people like us....But in the end, we have to make the best, most informed decision and weigh out the pros and cons. I agree with you about how historic this all is. Woot! I just got back from casting my vote for Obama as well! :)
I really hope Obama wins. I'm Canadian so I can't vote for the President but my concern is that there are a lot of people who think that Obama is going to win anyway so they will not take the time out of their day to go and vote because they assume Obama is going to win it anyway.
If enough people do this...McCain has a chance of getting all the votes.
I totally understand why you would want to vote Nader, but unfortunately due to the f-ed up way we vote in this country a vote for Nader is going to be a vote for McCain. It sucks, but it's the way it is (for now) hopefully it will change soon.
Just wondering! How do you feel about Obama now?

Wonder what accomplishments you saw in Obama..I saw none. Still loving the fake-phoney and fraud?

Good for you.
I like Nader better on many levels, but I think voting for nader is letting principle dictate over reasoning.
I think it basically like giving JM the vote at the current chances nader has.
Luckily Obama won.
