Don't listen to sizzam, that doesn't really help. Common mistake when your riding backwards put one skate infront of you and one behind. For example.

Instead of riding like this: [ ] [ ]  [ ]

Ride like this: [ ]

Eventually you'll get the hang of it and be able to ride backwards normally. Good luck!
