Besides, he is suspected in the killing of former pakistan priminister and is hiding in london. read this report before you consider voting for this person. I live in Texas, not by choice though. I know what I am talking about.See if you want the rest of the country to be like this state, the largest red state in the country!!!
Regardless of whether you believe that prayer is efficacious (and I know you do not, being atheist) wasn't Gov. Perry doing only what previous governors had done, and indeed, what presidents like Lincoln did when he declared the first "day of Thanksgiving" in (I believe) 1864, calling upon "the Almighty" and "Providence" to be good to the United States? And while I think Gov. Perry is simply using this as a political pander, the same may have been true of past political leaders' actions too.
@nhprman - I agree. I think this prayer event was more a political event to subtlety undermine Mitt Romney. Romney is probably one of the front runners of the race for the Republican presidential nomination. But, Romney is a Mormon which doesn't sit well with most of the Christians in the South. This is a way for Rick Perry to say I'm a "Real Christian" without making a direct, snub against Romney.
Also, Texas didn't pay for "The Response", the only thing that would make it an issue for me.
Townsend attacks Rick Perry's prayer day. Townsend, who is a supporter of legal abortion and a Catholic, doesn’t mention abortion anywhere in her piece about Perry’s ignorance of moral matters. Is Townsend having a "who owns God" contest?
Maybe the prayer response would work better if Texans tried another position. God might be getting tired of the same old, same old. Sorry-I'm under the influence of the news about Warren Jeffs schooling his underage brides in pleasing both him and God.
I hope the prayers work.. Because rain in the south, end to terrorism, good economy, and good will to all would be super. But, rather than holding our breath, let's all get to work doing something. I propose.... count up how much time you spend praying each week... instead spend that time on some community service - even just picking up trash at the park. I bet you you'll feel better and something will actually happen. I don't pray, so I'll start with 2 hours just because.
I don't really know much about Rick Perry so I will restrain from saying anything pro or negative about the fellow. On the other hand if he is anything like the last douche bag who was a governor of Texas to become president of the United States he can go to hell. And this is the view of a conservative/Republican.
@revelationtek3 Boy he does look like a true "politician" if I ever saw one. We need statesmen, not politicians. What happens when you give a politician Viagra? They get taller.
Good ol' governor-good-hair back at it again... Believe it or not, we Texans were actually sorry to see Bush go because he was *better* than Perry. I miss Richards so much it hurts.
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full." Matthew 6:5 NIV
@ProfMTH They also conveniently ignore the passages from Isaiah, which John the Baptist & Jesus preached, in re what is 'an acceptable fast' to God:
"Deal your bread to the hungry, undo burdens (debts), free captives, bring the needy & harborless into your home....clothe the naked". And...."your assemblies are wicked...when you multiply prayer, I will not hear: for your hands are full of blood"
As they do war & capital punishment, which is against the most ancient Commandment: Do not Kill.
@19lfm12@ProfMTH Christianity is an exercise in delusion and cognitive dissonance. They say you can't go through seminary without losing your belief in God. That's where pastors learn to weave the stories their congregations want to hear ... and the stories that will loosen their pocketbooks.
@Moodang1985 Of course you realize that the reason Jesus was killed was because He condemned the leaders of Organized Religion. And was branded a 'heretic'.
He opposed the delusion & cognitive dissonance you reference.
Ha Ha, I think it's so funny. The shoe is on the other foot now huh? Christians are standing back up for themselves and you can't stand it can you? We will be taking back over this country. If you don't like it move to a different country. You will see more of this all over the country. Get ready.
@ProfMTH (1) - I don't know if I can what Rick Perry did as unconstitutional. Using his office to make an announcement of the nature he did may be in bad taste. But the event itself is being paid for by the spokesman for American Family Association, AFA. Of course, the AFA is a group that is known as calling bans in school against bullying gays as being persecution against Christians. I guess this spokesperson has also claimed that Hitler started his NAZI movement in a gay bar.
@DarrelfromZeeland - Actually, like many topics involving Hitler there seems to be much debate. Though, it should be acknowledged that Hitler was married, engaged to two other females in the past, and was known to have had mistresses as well.
So, it is unlikely that Hitler was exclusively a homosexual. Some might argue that he wasn't a homosexual at all, period.
Regardless the NAZI movement persecuted homosexuals just like it did to many other "undesirables".
@ProfMTH (2) - Maybe, Rick Perry ought to pray that he doesn't get associated with the people paying for and potentially speaking at this rally. After, all Obama got nailed for his preacher's apparent hate speech against the "white establishment".
@nurface1972 I can't wait until Christianity is declared our official national religion and all the other ones are banned. The secularists can move to Russia, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, France, Sweden, Canada, or some other commie secular socialist libturd shithole country and suck on thick greasy veiny uncicumcized secular socialist cock.
@nurface1972 history would teach peoplethat when christians try to take over a country they generally get their asses kicked, it wont work, this is texas we are talking about , shit kickers, idiots ill educated. ironic these traits are the same as christians in general really. christians were kicked out long ago and that will never change.
On April 15, 1775, just four days before the Battle of Lexington, the Massachusetts Provincial Congress, led by John Hancock, declared: In circumstances dark as these, it becomes us, as men and Christians, to reflect that, whilst every prudent measure should be taken to ward off the impending judgments...the 11th of May next be set apart as a Day of Public Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer...to confess the sins...to implore the Forgiveness of all our Transgression.
@Isaiah2620 "On April 15, 1775, just four days before the Battle of Lexington, the Massachusetts Provincial Congress, led by John Hancock, declared...."
1st, the Constitution wasn't adopted for another 12 years & the 1st Amendment four years later. 2nd, argumentum ad antiquitatem is fallacious. 3rd, no one acquires a vested right to violate the Constitution by long use, even when that span of time covers our entire national existence and indeed predates it (Walz v. Tax Commission, 1970).
Democrat Evolution:We are all God's children, loves the poor.Religion is a private issue, should be removed from the public square, be removed from everywhere. Rick Perry is should keep his religion private. Rick Perry does not give enough money to his church. Rick Perry cannot sell tickets to his Religious event. Democrats cannot stand that Rick Perry has the experience is a believer & success as governor to dwarf Obama in 2012.They would not attack if Rick Perry was not gaining ground.
@BlackRepublican2010 "Democrats cannot stand that Rick Perry has the experience is a believer & success as governor to dwarf Obama in 2012.They would not attack if Rick Perry was not gaining ground."
Thanks for the ad hominem. Do you have anything to say that is relevant to the video and not fallacious?
I have a request to all believers. For the next 30 days I ask ALL of you to concentrate your prayers. Pray that God does not let another child die of starvation in Africa. Please, for the next 30 days everyday one prayer.
I wonder how many of these idiots that went to the prayer rally in their SUV's which get less than 17 mpg? God(s) forbid that they would do anything more helpful like I don't know like cutting greenhouse gases.
@straygypsy What? Where the hell did that come from? If thats the best response you have (to act like you're a five-year-old and baselessly insult people based on ideas you pulled out of your ass) then should I pay attention.
The only logical reason I can see for the purpose of your insult is to try and get a rise ouyt of me. You're failing on so many levels.
@PalulukanMakto try reading the constitution.Their is only a seperation of the state FROM the church.Jesus forbids rape.No true Christian would rape anyone.
@soulkiss1001 If you get to define what a 'true Christian' is then why doesn't everyone else? Do me a favor, and get off your high-horse and start THINKING.
@soulkiss1001 What? I never denied that Christ told his followers not to rape... what I said was that the only unforgivable sin was not believing in god.
"Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— Mark 3:28-30
Yell out a Red Herring, construct a Strawman, is that ALL you do?
"The holy bible defines what a Christ follower is."
Which version of the bible? There are HUNDREDS? And which interpretation of it? There are TENS OF THOUSANDS (roughly 38k to be precise). So no, the bible is not exactly clear.
@tskasa1 Yeah..I guess we all should have guessed that after the constant rapes from muslims, arsons commited by muslims, murders from muslims, assaults from muslims..etc..etc..etc..
"Yeah..I guess we all should have guessed that after the constant rapes from muslims, arsons commited by muslims, murders from muslims, assaults from muslims..etc..etc..etc.."
Again, most rapes, arsons, murders, thefts, and crime in general in the Western World are committed BY CHRISTIANS. So what, exactly, is your point?
@tskasa1 IN FACT!!!! Just google "Rape Muslims Norway" and you will find that MOST ALL of rapes against Norweigan women were committed by muslim immigrants within the past few years..
Im sorry, you were saying that muslim immigration was great and wonderful. Please continue displaying that great American education......
@Vilemk0 Attempting to change the subject doesnt work with me. Nice try!
Now that you have been exposed as nothing but a PC Pussy, we would simply like to know if you have anything to say that not a single news source showing your lovable friendly muslims as being the most of the culprits of rapes in Norway were not from FOX.
We are still waiting for you answer.......................
@tskasa1 So then you admit that if it were not for muslim immigration then rapes would not have occurred in Europe.
Now that we agree that I just kicked your ass in that issue (as I always do), We can now discuss rapes from xtians
And please try to stay with the issue even when you realize you're losing the argument.
I was unaware that the US had a massive influx of xtian immigration. Please show evidence (FOR ONCE) of xtian immigration and xtian rapes (20th and 21th century only please)
"So then you admit that if it were not for muslim immigration then rapes would not have occurred in Europe."
No, I'm saying that you established a VERY bad and faulty correlation without ANY causative property. In other words, your argument is shit because you don't HAVE one. You are completely ignoring the socio-economic and cultural issues at hand.
"Please show evidence (FOR ONCE) of xtian immigration and xtian rapes"
Are you kidding? That's easy as hell. The vast majority of European and Latin American immigrants to the US are Christian of one of sects of the Catholic or Protestant denominations. The vast majority of Latin American population follows the Catholic faith. Some notable examples are: The Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, etc.
"According to your american logic, there were just as much rapes before the influx of muslims."
So you are saying that the introduction of a huge minority into a country where they are nearly nonexistent as well as one of the poorest classes is bound to raise crime in that area? You don't say? D=
Seriously, the known causitive correlation between poverty, and being part of a cultural minority has been known for decades.
No. You are just an idiot for misapplying it. You can't simply use math without actually KNOWING what you are doing. And what you are committing is a correlative fallacy, a logical fallacy in which you assign the blame to something based SIMPLY on a correlation and NOT a causitive property.
@tskasa1 "No. You are just an idiot for misapplying it. You can't simply use math without actually KNOWING what you are doing. And what you are committing is a correlative fallacy,"
Nice try dickhead. But I didn't ask you to mask the facts. I merely asks FOR the facts.
@tskasa1 Oh thats right I forgot! They don't teach math in American schools anymore. They're too busy teaching gay sex and global warming. Here, let Chinese show you some math...
Assault Rapes in Norway within the past 5 years by Norweigan males- 0%
Assault Rapes in Norway withn the past 5 years from foreigners- 100%
Yeah, its very complicated for Americans I know. Perhaps if you would study math instead of gay sex, gay history and global warming then maybe you will be as advanced as we are.
@tskasa1 Dickhead...there were too many sources to count. But you can see for yourself.
Google: Rape statistics Norway
Oh wait! Let me guess...all those sources are actually FOX news in disguise right?
If there are 200 Islamic terrorists for every 1 Xtian terrorist, and yet americans think there is no Islamic threat, please dont be offended when we foreigners think you americans make retards look intelligent...
No, the burden of proof is on YOU to show that there have been ZERO Christian rapes in Norway in the last five years. Now, produce a sociology/crimonology/psychology/justice/scientific paper that shows that or stop blabbering on inane nonesense.
@tskasa1 Those facts were provided numerous time after time on the google search.
Ths is just one of 100s:
w w w dot israelnationalnews dot com/News/News.aspx/145161#.TjhqC2Wk9QF
Let me guess the Norwegian police are just right wing liars...right?
I guess stoning women, hanging gays and honoring pedophiles are respectable characteristics for you americans. At least now I know how Obama got elected....
You're pathetic scum for defending rapists and murderers
@straygypsy ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haha hah a ha ha ha haah ha ha ah ahhahahahhaaaaahhhahhahahahahaha thanks for this hilarious exchange, really brightened my day ^^
@pbmdh Yeah...Shanghai and HK are such backwards cities. Which is why high tech American corporatons are always coming here to hire trained personnel.
But dont worry, when the gay sex and global warming industries start hiring they will hire Americans!
As for Christian rape? Have you been living under a rock for the last few decades? Haven't you heard of the currently ongoing issues in the US with Christian priests (of all denominations, but Catholics being the most notable) being charged with the rape of members of the both the adult and children of their parishes?
@straygypsy Most of the raping going on everywhere (by numbers, and by percentage of rapists per religious group) is being done by Christians.
If you want to contradict the governments numbers, that would be fine by me since you'd just look like a crazy imbecile. Oh wait, nevermind... you already do.
We are discussing Noways rape percentage BEFORE muslim immigration.
Now run along and upload more condom commercials. Since guys that look like you never get laid anyways, so this foreum would probably be a waste of time for you...
Oh my... If i didn't know previously about this event i would have called the author of the text of the text from Gov. Rick Perry inviting to the event a poe... This is just ridiculous. Apart from the uselessness of prayer.
I once read an ironic study where it seems not only are people no more likely to survive/heal any better if they know they're being prayed for, but in fact are slightly LESS likely to survive/heal (one possible explanation being that knowing people are praying for one's success adds unnecessary stress, because of the added expectations, which can be very detrimental under certain physical situations/ailments).
Prayer has been proved not to work, other than in the minds of the believers.
Even all the miracles at Lourdes, after 153 yrs and millions of pilgrims, only come to a total of 67.
That's not even what could be expected by spontaneous remission, a well known medical phenomenon.
More pilgrims have actually died earlier than they would have otherwise have done, due to the stress of the journey. So, it looks like Lourdes causes more deaths than cures. Some miracles.

whom ever made this video focused more on the fact that he does not believe in god then if Perry is an effective gov. hmmmmmm
rodrighb 6 months ago
Regardless of whether you believe that prayer is efficacious (and I know you do not, being atheist) wasn't Gov. Perry doing only what previous governors had done, and indeed, what presidents like Lincoln did when he declared the first "day of Thanksgiving" in (I believe) 1864, calling upon "the Almighty" and "Providence" to be good to the United States? And while I think Gov. Perry is simply using this as a political pander, the same may have been true of past political leaders' actions too.
nhprman 6 months ago
@nhprman - I agree. I think this prayer event was more a political event to subtlety undermine Mitt Romney. Romney is probably one of the front runners of the race for the Republican presidential nomination. But, Romney is a Mormon which doesn't sit well with most of the Christians in the South. This is a way for Rick Perry to say I'm a "Real Christian" without making a direct, snub against Romney.
Also, Texas didn't pay for "The Response", the only thing that would make it an issue for me.
lobothesacred3 6 months ago
@lobothesacred3 Good analysis. Exactly right. They don't "take too kindly to those Mormon types" in the South. Or in Iowa, it seems.

@Moodang1985 Yes, that passage never seems to matter to organizers of these sorts of public events.

19lfm12 7 months ago
@19lfm12 @ProfMTH Christianity is an exercise in delusion and cognitive dissonance. They say you can't go through seminary without losing your belief in God. That's where pastors learn to weave the stories their congregations want to hear ... and the stories that will loosen their pocketbooks.

@Moodang1985 If you insert the word 'Organized" in front of "Christianity", then I 100% agree with your statement.

I guess this spokesperson has also claimed that Hitler started his NAZI movement in a gay bar.
lobothesacred3 7 months ago
@lobothesacred3 Newsflash. Hitler was a homo.
DarrelfromZeeland 7 months ago
@DarrelfromZeeland - Actually, like many topics involving Hitler there seems to be much debate. Though, it should be acknowledged that Hitler was married, engaged to two other females in the past, and was known to have had mistresses as well.
So, it is unlikely that Hitler was exclusively a homosexual. Some might argue that he wasn't a homosexual at all, period.
Regardless the NAZI movement persecuted homosexuals just like it did to many other "undesirables".
lobothesacred3 7 months ago
@ProfMTH (2) - Maybe, Rick Perry ought to pray that he doesn't get associated with the people paying for and potentially speaking at this rally. After, all Obama got nailed for his preacher's apparent hate speech against the "white establishment".
