All that build up to Torchwood and what do we get? A warehouse! I would've loved to see more of Torchwood One and Yvonne, whats the point of all that build up just to destroy it in one episode. Man, Yvonne was so patriotic.
if all the cybermen from the parallel universe went through into the void, what happened to the people who got upgraded from torchwood because they werent from the parallel universe?
@00420433 It was symbolic. She went into the operating room with such fear and sadness as well as bravery that this emotion was preserved forever in her brain.
@00420433 She went beyond the barriers of logic for it. Her patriotism was so strong it was preserved in her forever, while for most Cybermen it would cause their heads to explode.
@yessthisisthebest Wait, who said they 'fear,, the doctor. I thing they just program themselves to terminate the doctor in the most logical and recourceful way possibe
@00420433 i think that it was one of the older cyberman from the 1970s or when ever. and pluss they have haterid for all no cyber things and further more, they have humor. if you watch the episode, when the cyberman talks to the darleks the cyberleader says "you would destroy the cybermen with 4 darleks?"
@yessthisisthebest But with the help of the genisis ark, and even then the battle between the Daleks ( not darleks btw) and the Cyberman was inconlusive. I personally think the new cybeman look coller than the daleks from that episode.
@yessthisisthebest A healthy threat assessment based on logic doesn't imply fear, it may be a rational response to a threat. Not touching a hot stove doesn't imply you fear a hot stove, but is an exercise in common sense. The Doctor's presence may simply warrant hesitation as a tactical response.
I've got to say, she was pretty bad ass. Taking control of the Cybermen body AND overriding the emotion inhibitor threw sheer WILL and DETERMINATION alone. You madam, get a Gurren Lagaan award.
Yvonne WOULD be awsome as a Cyberman in Torchwood BUT it was never explained wheter the parts used to create all the earth Cybermen were from earth or from the parallel dimension so we don't know if Yvonne was pulled through to the void. Also, it was apparent that he genuine strong feelings that she believed she was fighting for "Queen and Country" created some sort of override on the emotional inhibitor. But after there's nothing to fight. Who's to say she'll stay like that?
I always love this scene in this episode. The fact that Yvonne the Cyberwoman shoots the hell out of the very same Cybermen that converted her, was a real kick in the arse for them and a really good foil to their plans.
they still have their brains and this isn't really emotions, more her thinking. and she kept repeating "I did my duty..." before being turned into a cyberman.
Her emotional inhibitor could have been defective because they also take away your personality so if it wasn't defective she wouldn't have stopped them.
Maybe it has to do something with the mental training the Staff of Torchwood has to complete to avoid psy-attacks.
It is mentioned from Dr. Singh as Rose tries to convince him to believe she is a Member of Torchwood.
A defective Chip would not explain the her own voice in the Cyberman Voice.
Maybe (and this is a big maybe!) she saw how hopeless the situation is and tried to close up her mind. The Sentence she repeats ("I did my duty...) sounds like a mantra or self-hypnosis or something similar
I thought the emotion suppressing chip in a cyberman plus the numb mechanical body made the human brain inside "enjoy" cyberazation. "an immortal, painless and question free existence with everyone as one mind" I would think as the first person perspective of a cyberman....until the emotion chip broke, then it goes back to "OMG! I AM A TOASTERMAN! KILL ME PLEASE"
Yeah but Yvonne`s "Conversion" was rushed & as a result , her "Emotion-Inhibiting" Chip was slowly frying , driving her insane even by Cyberman Standards.
Yvonne WAS pulled into the void because the Cybermen brought the upgrading equipment and cyber parts from the parallel earth THROUGH the void. It was covered in voidstuff so it got sucked in. Poor Yvonne
Funny, I read somewhere that she was killed and her Cyberman body was found somewhere. So maybe she wasn't pulled into the void. She migh have had a merciful death.
no i don't think she was pulled into the void, because according to torchwood and the doctor who books the cybermen made on our world weren't covered in void stuff so they weren't sucked into the void, the cybermen made on "Pete's world" were.
