  • celiacs are degenerates and need to be sent far away

  • @IHATEALLERGICPEOPLE ...celiac isnt an alergy, but nice try genius

  • I have ce and I eat almost all of those gf foods. I LUV GLUTINOS!!!!!

  • I have Celiac disease and I am lactose intolerant yea not so fun

  • FUCK all these pussy whinners in AMERICA, I ain't giving up PIZZA motherfuckers. Pop quiz hot shots. Just eat a bunch of Gluten and your body will get used to it. Dumbasses. Gluten Free pusification of america.

  • @solitaryfracture ...trust me no one wants to not eat pizza...judging by your obvious neurological symptoms you might want to get tested for celiac yourself

  • @spiderbip

who has health insurance for these frivolous tests on phony diseases that just make doctors rich.

  • @solitaryfracture This phony disease does not make any doctor rich, because apart from the diagnosis, there is no treatment other then a gluten free diet.

  • Wtf these two bitches need to stfu. Fuk I feel like shooting them

  • just found out i might have celiac disease, we thought it was lactose intolerancy but after seeing this i know i have it lol video helped alot though

  • the whole gluten free thing is a fad

  • @raykup trust me its not a fad....if you had to eat the shit and pay the higher prices for the product you wouldn't call it a "fad" . Its not the worst thing you could have but its not the best

  • @raykup Maybe for you, but not for people with celiac disease. It's absolute bullshit to live gluten free for ppl without celiac disease, but it's vital for ppl with celiac disease

  • You have any idea how expensive those gluten free brands are. Yeah yeah there are options but they cost about 3 times as much! Better to learn how to make your own bread and cookies and such. Or just don't eat them at all.

  • The host of the show is very irritating. Is she still on the view? What a terrible way of speaking about this condition. Eating gluten free has changed my life. I'm so happy that my instinct persuaded me to get diagnosed by a holistic doctor. I no longer go to the regular doctor, because they don't WANT to understand my symptoms. It's all business for them, the right diet replaces the need of medications for many diseases. I feel really good now ! (tear*)

  • I had exercise addiction really bad. I worked out 2-4 hours every day for a long time because it was the only way I could get my mind clear of the 'Celiac fog, depression and anxiety' enough to work. I have developed a lifestyle to control my severe Celiac to have life for the first time in 43 years. I live a modified lacto-ovo vegetarian lifestyle with meditation. Controlling Celiac disease is NOT just about eliminating gluten! It is about living life in a way that promotes good digestion!

  • Imagine eating and eating and eating and eating and...eating. Never gaining muscle, getting fat, depressed and horrible skin. Next imagine the light being turned on when you realize your non-stop eating was a result of not being able to digest then realizing you can eat a small portion and be strong and healthy. Imagine being so utterly depressed knowing that something you were eating was killing you but you didn't know what it was. You become so afraid to eat you starve. Celiac awareness.

  • I bought Doctor Green's book 2 days ago. It is my bible now. Our society spends way to much time running around like blind headless chickens. We need to have a better way to help people with this disease. Nobody can understand the amount of issues this disease causes. If you have severe Celiac the anxiety and depression is incomprehensible to those without it.

  • I have suffered from ADHD, OCD, hoarding, depression, anxiety, fat skinny, skin blemishes, food allergies, indigestion, acid reflux, aches, pains, muscle injuries, bullying all my life and more... Doctors grrrr.... (they slap a pill on the symptoms and faillll at finding the underlying condition). Now finally I have isolate on my own like many that I have severe Celiac disease. I had already eliminated wheat, barley and rye. I then had to remove oats. Lastly wheat and other grain grass juice

  • wow Elizabeth is freakin annoying

  • these chickens need to listen and stop cluckin'

  • If these ladies invite a doctor for their show why they don't let him to speak ??????

For the blond female just need a duct tape around her mouth good tightly...

  • I hate her. what women wathing the view relate to elizabum. I dont undestand.

  • Gluten and dairy is POISON!!!..we are all miserable and sick because of it!! kids have ADD and autism from it, and the food industry just wants us to consume more and more!!, and most doctors just want us to live off of pharmaceutical drugs that cure nothing!!

  • Ok the doctor is a LITTLE off, you are born with it, but somtimes your symptems dont' become noticable until your adulthood. Or if you did have a intestinal desease and then become ceiliac, it just means that you became more acute to the symptems, or your symptems got worse. But celiac is still a pretty unknown disease not many people know much about it, and we are learnign more more every day.

  • DP-lV is the most awesome scientific discovery. It allows me to eat any and everything God Bless the scientists who came up with it. Great job! It's kind of expensive, but it is the only digestive enzyme that works. It works for me and my 4 year old son. You owe it to yourself to try it, it cost me 25 dollars a bottle, and it has made my life normal again.

  • The blond woman should shot up and allow the doctor to explain and speak.

Please woman have a little bit of respect and do not come to try to show up

  • i alot of people, esp. make up fake food allergies like this because they dont want to gain weight

  • @JogBird This is a disease and not made up... fool.

  • @JogBird It's an actual disease. I have it. One of the reason's it's gotten popular (at lease kinda where I'm from) is because people think it's a weight loss diet. It is way bigger then just about loosing weight. If we, those of us who have Celiac's, eat gluten (wheat, rye, barley) we become sick. At least I do. Please do some research before comment on this being "fake." Thanks.

  • @JogBird Are you fucking retarted? It's a real disease. I've had it basically my whole life.

  • @amazingcupcake Ru a rich white person that has this disease if not u dont need 2 say anything about it cuz my daughter has this disease and we r not rich

  • what other chemicals are in our food that are making our bodies get diseases

  • RNpedia.com to know more about this..

  • this is a disease for rich white people

  • @amazingcupcake wow, you're a dumb ass. What a better way than to show your stupidity. Moron.

  • I'm glad information about celiac disease is becoming more mainstream! thanks for posting!

  • I'm so glad that Elizabeth did this! I have Celiac disease, and it is nice to see someone raising awareness!

  • thanx for this! i would have never seen "the view" but this little clip was very informative. Most discussion are very tedious and unnecessarily complicated. Thanx for sharing it

  • Very interesting

  • JUST FOUND OUT I HAVE THIS , WHAT A PAIN IN THE A&^ WELL NOW I KNOW ,

  • @bearcub410 I sympathize.` This is entirely news to me. Do you have to avoid ALL grains?

  • @dancebandleader yes i do , but i am glad i know

  • such a woman show...bug eyed fast and loud talking about not so important subjects...jk...but really...

  • A stemcell transplantation however can't change your Genes. This means that I stil have the genetics to develop Celiac disease once again. A stemcell transplantation is not a viable solution against Celiac disease either since it brings a great risk and is nto a guarantee by far that it will do the trick. I know celiac disease could come back to me again. But for now I can enjoy anything I want to eat.

  • When I got rid of the heavy medicine my doctor told me I could test eating gluten. So first off we tried a month. I had no symptons and my blood didnt show anything either after that month. We decided to try 6 months, however I still don't show any symptons and neither does my blood. I'm still taking some medicine though and my doctor says that after the medicine she wants to test it again, just to be sure. But right now it looks as if i'm cured. ----read next post---

  • They say Celiac disease is not cureable. But I can say that at the moment it looks as if I am cured. When i was 18 I got diagnosed with Leukemia. It was a tough ride and at the end of all the treatments I had a stemcell transplantation. 'My doctor said that there is a possiblity that the Stemcell transplantation cured my Celiac disease aswell. She didnt wanna test it though since I was still taking some heavy medicine back then. ---read next post---

  • i have most of these symptoms but im not allergic to it...whaaat

  • @dogs2rulee how have you tested? the antibody test doesnt always show it. You need an endoscopy its the only way to know for sure. If you have had that maybe try an allergy skin prick test it could be caused by wheat or something else

  • I'm 13 and I have been gluten free for 4 and a half yrs. Apparently I had it since I was born, it was passed down my family. My great grandmother has even died from not knowing. But I started being gluten free since I was 9. I never cheated so that proves that ANYONE can do it, just takes a little effort!

  • For anyone newly diagnosed and watching videos, if you're upset about not eating wheat... trust me... it's not bad at all. The idea of it is bad, which is what gets people upset, you're used to foods and certain ways of eating, but once you adjust it's honestly like nothing ever changed. Also a good tip, if you're worried about eating bread that tastes like rock covered in glue for the rest of your life, try UDI's bread, seriously. And for hope... a vaccine has been developed and being tested!

  • The issue is that the blood test is often inconclusive because it often comes back as a false negetive and you can still have the disease and not know

  • "we didnt evolve to eat wheat". They always have to push that evolution agenda whenever they can, don't they?

  • @VASINGER would you like them to say God didnt create our tummys to like wheat?

  • @VASINGER thats because hes informed and he knows about evolution unlike u creepy paranoid religious freaks

  • @geiuy im not religious. Im Christian. Evolution is not Science. Its science fiction!

  • @VASINGER have u ever heard about "bacterial evolution","gabriels revelation","krishna","mytra","horus"?you probably havent because only ignorance can make someone be a christian

  • @geiuy 1. Having spiritual convictions does not make a person "ignorant

    2. Yes, I have. But that refers to micro evolution, not macro evolution in which species change into something else entirely. 3. The Bible can be supported through genetic science. God made everything according to its own kind. Bacteria may change, but its still bacteria. 4. Grow up!

  • My Channel features recipes and advice for those who have celiac disease or are living gluten-free. Come check it out!

  • You go Elisabeth. Gluten and gliadin are BAD news for many, many

people, not just celiacs. Read "Dangerous Grains" by James Braly, MD

if you want the bio-chemisty about all this. Humans, in general, do not

have the genetic complement to handle these cereal grain proteins.

  • i have been living with celiacs my whole life. I get upset often cux I can't eat with my friends at the mall and i have to bring my own food when i eat at my friend's houses. It took my doctor's 3 years to find out about my disease. It is a struggle but it makes me, me

  • Yes Gemini850 we black folks can get celiac. My dr told me the same thing that it's a white mans disease and I don't need to be tested.

I had to demand to be tested and got a great GI dr who did biopsy of small intestine and confirmed it and recomfirmed it with bloodwork.

These dr need to realize that we have black skin but a lot of us have white ancestors. DNA goes a long way. Get tested or change doctors.

  • Can black people get celiac disease? Because I swear up and down that I have it. I tell my doctor to test me for it but he said only white people get it. But my grandfather was half white so maybe the gene/trait carried though. I eat bread all the time too and it use to be my fav. food when I was younger. I have such bad skin, IDK what is wrong, ecezema or what. But its itchy, etc. I have a bloated stomach and I'm always tired. I was treated w/ anxiety and depression when I was younger also.

  • There's also something called the "nonsecretor" gene that is closely linked to celiac disease and gluten sensitivity -- and it's available through a simple saliva test. I have the gene, so I have to know this stuff.

  • Doctor Atkins is looking more and more right the more I think about this. Years ago I thought he was nuts. Now I am not so sure. Grains are not good for people.

  • Excellent! This informative video is welcomed for many of us with gluten intolerence!

  • God can that blonde bitch shut up and let someone actually talk? And the dumb one with the brown hair said about as many stupid things as she could.

  • My mom just got this disease along with Graves disease and Lupus! This disease is supposed to be hereditary. And my mom is making me go get tested out because I have acid reflux and so does she and she thinks that I might have it so I have to go get it checked tomorrow! She wouldn't have normally gotten me tested but I keep having constant Acid Reflux attacks!

  • Elisabeth is doing a 5 day juice cleanse! LOL! WHY????? Cause she has an eating disorder?

  • What is the difference between gluten intollerance and celiac disease?

    Symptoms etc.?

I thoutht it was just two ways of saying the same thing.

  • @80Cetbal08 the difference could be in testing to see if you actually have this disorder. I have manifested many of the symptoms of Celiac disease. My doctor advised elimination of various foods containing gluten...it has helped.

  • I have been gluten intolerant for 5 years...I got depressed, cause Im a chef! I had to learn myself bake all over again and make it more fitting for me and still taste good. everybody who have celiac, its not that bad. and its good for you too! But be careful at restaurants! I have to be very strict to the waiters..Btw, french fries arent always glutenfree at burger places, so order glutenfree burgers AND glutenfree fries :P

  • @ravnette Heyy i have Celiac Disesase too! i have to be strick to the waters also..lol yea ur rite its not that bad!! i have only had it for like 3 months though so its still pretty new to me! :) well byeeeee

  • @ravnette ty for that now i know....well i dont know if i have celliac yer waiting till monday

  • @ravnette Thanks for the tip! I was tested positive for Celiac's disease today : (

  • Gluten intolerance pretty much IS celiac disease. celiac disease is the very obvious intestinal damage associated with gluten intolerance. you can't have one without the other, really, unless it's in remission.

  • Sorry can't listen to that blond chick..talks way too fast

  • I'm 16 & I have celiac too

  • its not a bad thing at al its the learning of what you can eat and habbit of reading lables its such a healthy live and non of this crap thats out there you feel amazing and not pulled down lazy from eating the right food. trust me i found out at 21 and wish i did sooner as school was hard depresing as couldnt understand or want to learn... now i can and too late as finnished school :'(

its a new life and you will feel amazing

  • Hey, Guess who was just diagnosed with Celiac Disease? Whooo. Fuck my life.

  • @haiguyswassup im with ya :(

  • @haiguyswassup I feel the same way. How are you getting along with it? I'm just starting to feel better but it's really tough.

  • all lies!

  • I'm 14 and have it :(

  • @Sponge1515 I have it too!! I'm Maria, I'm 15, from Spain. :) Where are you from?

  • @Sponge1515 Is it hard to follow a gluten free diet over there? Like, are there special menus in restaurants (some of them) or can u find gluten free food easily?

  • @Maria4everJonasBros It was hard for me at first because all I ate was gluton, like pizza, chicken nuggets, hamburgers you name it. But its not as hard as I thought it would be because over here they sell gluton free food in almost every restraunt now. or Grocery store. I am hoping they come out with a pill where if you take it you can eat gluton for 12 hours or something because i miss KFC lol.

  • i have this crap..scared to go and do the endioscopy..this is effecting my entire body including my skin.

  • when you say including your skin, what do you mean? cause i notice i break out after eating alot of wheat or milk and i always have an upset stomach. just curious thanks!

  • @yournotmydad i am getting extemely dry skin and cysts, more than ever on my skin, thanks for asking.

  • dont worry the endoscopy is completely safe and u feel no pain at all, im 15 and have celiac disease, i hope i can go to college and find a cure for this!

  • he is a very nice man. i have met him 3 times during the celiac support group

  • I am being tested for this as well. It sounds crazy but I hope I test positive for it. I know it will be a pain to change my diet but I have been so sick for six months with no idea what is wrong with me. I'm anemic, have burning hands and feet, bone pain, blurred vision, hair loss etc. It would be wonderful to find out what is causing all of that and know that I can do something about it!

  • I know what you mean! I've been sick for almost a year now. I have a lot of the symptoms and it would be a relief to finally find out whats wrong with me.

  • im getting tested for this disease tommorow. im very nervous. i hope i dont have it

  • my mom has this disease and she has to be really careful about what she eats...gets kind of frustrating for her sometimes. she says that all she wants is a good pancake that GF!

  • does smoking make it worse?

  • im 15 and i just found out that i have Celiac Disease :( its not going so well i have to watch everything im eating idk what to do anymore

  • saaaaaame man it fucking blooooooows

  • @jaimeloza23 i am 15 and i also have celiac disease :(

  • Hello everyone, I just created a website for people with celiac, the site is still under construction but the forums are up and running and I would love to build a nice community within those forums. I am working on building a database with all gluten-free food as well. Check it out at celiacreviews()com with () being the dot of course "."

  • i think i recently got this.. i

  • i never heard of this before, im doing a research paper so i think im going to choose this out of the bunch

  • gluten in corn bread?i ´ve been eating and on the package sauys gluten free..I´m confused

  • @despookyhhr i've been doing some research, am going to inquire about adidtional blood tests ( there r 4) , i 'm also aware that biopsy of the small intestine is recommended. She may have run more than one test , going to find out. i don't want to give up my pizza hut lol!!

  • Why does the blond lady have to speak so fast? Not that I have trouble understanding her - she does enunciate well. But I always think that people speaking fast don't really think carefully before rushing words out of their mouths. Listen to the doc who speaks in a measured and educated pace!

  • @yinstube lol i know! i found that a little annoying too.

  • @yinstube

I think maybe some people think they sound smarter if they speak faster.

  • @yinstube at least she doesnt have that weird accent the brunette lady does.

  • @yinstube she's a women they all speak so fast

  • @despookyhhr I'm not sure! Through the last 10 years it was though to be irritable bowel, was tested for Chron's disease, was having some unsettling symptoms for so long. Finally i heard about a blood test for it and had it, it was positive.I will ask my dcr though, thanks for the info, i want to be sure of my diagnosis!

  • i am 19 and was just diagnosed with celiacs yesterday and am starting to get directed by my mom who was diagnosed just over a year ago. i am glad to see the support and forums dedicated to gluten free living and am looking forward to eating better and feeling better.

  • @vipergtr21 i was just diagnosed today to ( blood test)..i'm 34 now and i think ive had it for years! i was misdiagnosed with irritable bowel in the past. i was married and couldn't get pregnant, etc. now i know, but thats good you caught it now!

  • The problem is that a lot of the pre-packaged gf food has milk in it. I do not have lactose intolerance, I have a severe milk allergy (complete with epipen). If I have even a tiny amount of milk protein, I'll stop breathing and I could die. So, I have to make my own gf/cf food from scratch.

  • when you think about it most breads and pastas are just made up of flour and water and heaps of sugar. So why bother even if you are gluten tolerant. I don't know if its gluten free but sprout bread is a good bread with live ingredients in it

  • sprouted bread has wheat and barley in it, so it is not good for celiacs.

  • ah ok

  • i have celiac plus a lactose intolerance and the gluten free diet isn't so bad...it's just hard when you go out to eat or over for dinner...but it beat the having the all gastrointestinal problems....gluten sucks!!!!!!

  • If you are gluten free... is it like being on a diet where you follow your diet and every now and then you can go out with your friends and nothing too bad will happen or must you be this strict forever?

  • I've recently read about the connection between infertility, PCOS, miscarriages and celiac disease. Gluten is a bugger.

  • if you itch a lot, and get blister like bubbles of water after eating, you probably have that dermatitis thing. i had that since i was 12 years old, i was told it is just eczema, but my new doctor found out it was celiac disease.

oh man, does that itch ever feel so good though!

  • I have celiac , but I cheat 2 times a year at Thanksgiving and my birthday . Remember the point of life is to enjoy it , not see how strictly you can follow guidelines . As someone who has celiac I recommend the gene test only ! Do not get an endoscopy , it is unecessary , expensive , painful , and really serves no purpose . With the toxicity of processed grain , almost 100% of people feel better going gluten free unless you get your wheat from Amish country, it is always a GMO food .

  • @MindofaJedi I have celiac. You should NEVER cheat on your diet! I just heard Dr. Green speak last week, and he said that a tiny microscopic amount of gluten will stay in your system for over two months. And wheat from Amish country is STILL WHEAT! With GLUTEN!! It's not genetically modified, but it still has gluten in it!!! An endoscopy will help establish the amount of villious atrophy that you have. You shouldn't have the procedure unless you're sick, but it's the way to get diagnosed.

  • I also have celiac , but I completely disagree about never cheating . First life is to enjoy , not practicing following rules . Second nobody who doesn't have celiac really wants to hear about your issues , on Thanksgiving I enjoy myself with my family instead of crying about what I can't have like most celiacs . Third I never said Aish wheat did not have gluten . Perhaps you need some work on your reading comprehension . Endoscopy can do damage to your body and is unecessary .

  • Wow, and when doctors tell you your going to die because you dont folow it correctly, dont come crying to me. Enjoy puking your guts up while you eat you amish wheat that in fact does contain gluten!

  • I don't eat Amish wheat obviously you cannot read at all , I said it was not genetically engineered , not that it did not have gluten . Go back and reread the comments .

  • there are heaps of great gluten free recipes

  • sorry your mom died.......... i have celiac and im only 10!

  • well only my mom really cares and i guss my dad cares a little but i watch everyone at school eat pizza and cookies and chicken nuggets............

  • im only 10 and i have celiac........ my mom and nanny (my grandma) have it to...... and no one cares! I HATE CELIAC!

  • what do u mean no one cares? Your family cares, right? Don't worry I have Celiac too. i make the best of it. I go w my mom to Whole foods every sat. we have a day of finding the best gluten free foods togthr. So much fun scavenger hunting in there!

  • Is there any point in me getting a GENE test for Celiac if my mom has it?

  • Comment removed

  • Was just diagnosed today. Fucking sucks. Bread is my favourite thing :(

  • did you get that tube thing done, endoscopy?

  • That's completely untrue. Women who struggle with endometriosis and ovarian cysts are being told more and more to try going gluten free as gluten is drastically affecting them with their cycle, fertility, pain, etc. The positive reaction to the diet may be that some women do in fact have celiac disease. Nonetheless I think you are wrong in your statement and may need some more education.

  • I think I might have it

I have the cramping stomach upsets, fatty stools though I also get really constipated too, I have been anemic and even when I am not anemic I am usually very close to being anemic, I've had potassium deficiencies, have Depression, nerve damage, small seizures, low cholesterol. But I can't find a doctor who will take me seriously, should I just on my own go gluten free and see for myself if it helps?

  • I would say yes. But once you do you can't get tested for it unless you go back to eating gluten etc. Most who take themselves off and see improvement don't bother getting tested because you couldn't pay them enough to even put up with the damage just for a test. My friend this year figured out on his own that he had celiac. Started eating the right way and if feeling great!

  • That's great about your friend. To feel better that would be nice. I went to the doctor Monday, hoping she tested for Celiac she took massive amounts of blood but never said what I was being tested for, so will see I go back well this coming Monday

  • now im really dang scraed cuz i think ive had this since i was a baby.... and now im almost 13!!!

  • My 15 year old had a colonoscopy but the doc said she doesn't have celiac in her duodenum so she's fine.

I'm putting her and myself on the gluten-free diet because I think it can't hurt to stop eating flour and sugar.

  • My dad has this and he found it out when he was 50!

  • i have celiac disease since i was born but they never knew till i keeped throwing up and my esphfaguase or w/e its called ripped in half that when they found out (it happened when i was 2 im 14 know)

  • Well pizza is about the only thing that I do have a lot of, the gluten free base 'Hell's Pizza' uses here in NZ is really nice and you don't feel like you are missing out at all. Its the burgers and fries I miss, and unless a place cooks fries in a separate vat on their own (which none that I know of do) NO, you can not have fries, oven baked ones are about my limit now but they are never the same. P.S 'TheMedievalMan' its nothing to do with the disease I'm a woman and we talk heaps!!...lol

  • My mum has the disease and we eat chips all the time!

Don't limit yourself, shop around and you will soon find a gluten free brand of frozen fries somewhere. If that fails, then just get some potatoes, chop them up and fry them up in a pot at home.

We do it all the time!!

  • So Ive noticed...

  • I hate celiac disease beause My mom and sister get go out get a pizza I just have set here and watch them eat pizza.

  • Holy shit, I had a friend who had this. He couldn't eat glutton and would get really bad indigestion and nausea if he did. I always just thought it was an allergy, not some full flegded frickin disease!

  • Yes, its a disease for life with no cure except cutting gluten out of the diet. It is life threatening if you do not change your diet or try to cheat.

  • celiac disease.....doesn't that make you crave blood?

  • no

take the time and look it up

  • sorry about all my posts, got a bit carried away putting my 2cents worth in...lol

  • Now we know that celiac disease also makes you type uncontrollably for long paragraphs, as one of its symptoms.

  • The other day I had biscuits that said 'Gluten Free' in bold on the front so I started eating them without even worrying about reading the ingredients on the back. Later on I had a look and it said 'Manufactured in a Gluten handling facility' I couldn't believe it. I can't risk having anything like that because of the cross contamination so sometimes you can't win and I thought I was doing the right thing. I live in New Zealand with not a lot of gluten free foods, our choices are really limited.

  • To eat properly 100% you really need to stay away from processed foods all together and live on meat, fruit and veges, how depressing is that? Even I'm not quite prepared to resort to that just yet....lol. My symtoms are mild which means I don't always know if I've digested a little bit of gluten so that makes it harder, I'm lactose intolerant now so now I don't know whether its gluten I've had or just the milk etc, its not easy I tell you!!

  • I've assigned myself to know that realistically I can never eat from any fast food place again (except) for our local pizza place that does a gluten free pizza, you can't trust places like that. The only restaurants I would trust more is the top restaurants where chefs know what they are talking about and even then I'm a bit hesitant because most don't realise how big of a deal it is to clean the equipment before cooking just your meal, plus they probably can't be bothered!!

  • I've bound to have had the odd thing without knowing it because I still have processed foods and just read labels, but some ingredients I'm still not really sure about. The problem is my specialist said your body has a memory and even the odd bit of gluten resets you bowel back to square one so you keep starting the healing process all over again. I know some celiac people that still have things like fried chips from i.e Mcdonalds etc, you can't do that, they are kidding themselves.

  • but maybe being intolerant means you get symtoms but not actually damaging your bowel? I'm not sure. The problem is that so many people that haven't been tested for Celiac don't take it as seriously and still think they can get away with the old thing. Its better to know for sure because it scares you not to cheat, especially if you want to live a long life. I am highly sensitive which means I can't have a speck of gluten so have to be more careful about cross contamination.

  • 'I don't know if I have Celiac. I'm gluten intolerant.' It's the same thing... You can have an ALLERGY to it and not have Celiac, but the intolerance and Celiac are the same thing...according to his book, anyway.

  • its not easy having celiac disease and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. I've had it 1.5 yrs and still coming to terms with it.

  • Luvchu1 you can't have had celiac disease then because you can never grow out of it, don't kid yourself. You have to stay away from Gluten for life, thats the only cure. Not only that Celiac patients tend to also become lactose and dairy intolerant plus have a higher chance of developing diabetes. Its a serious condition no matter what anybody else says, not to mention malnutrition, high chance of Osteoporosis, lack of iron etc (which is also serious in itself)

  • BunnyHanyou: My mom is perfectly fine when she is on a gluten free diet which she is always on. I'm just saying that allergies and intolerances are not the same thing. When you have an allergy to something you have an immediate sometimes very serious reaction to something, However when you have an intolerance you will feel very miserable, but not in an immediate life threatening situation. Over time it could lead to death.

  • Right. I wish they'd included it in this segment because it was right in the book. That's a fantastic book, by the way. But he didn't even correct her.

  • I'm getting tested in a few days for it.. I already have IBS but they have a lot of similar characteristics

  • soaking your grains and proper fermentation can help people with 'celiac disease' this helps to break down anti-nutrients, as well as partial breakdown of gluten, etc. so its easier to digest.. all cultures did this with all grains
