Can anyone who poo-pooed this music, including Simon, make a sweeter sound on any instrument? If they didn't know it was coming from such a "hick" instrument, I suspect they'd be wowed. So it's a saw. So what? It's a beautiful sound.The fact that such an object can be used to create music makes it all the more wonderfu. The audience apparently loved it. That's harder than it looks, I've done it before, you have no way of knowing where the notes are, you just kind of guess.

It's obvious that there is no indication to the musician of where defined notes are when playing the saw, and it takes a lot of hard graft to get to the point where you can judge pitches by ear and with accuracy. This guy does it very well.

For Cowell to express such indignation is a joke: it is he who is the waste of space here. It's clear that Simon knows nothing of music, and will curb the enjoyment of others for capital gain. He is of no real worth.

I think it's pretty, though. It's kind of a sad, alien-sounding (I mean, like literally outer-space aliens, but not in a bad way), instrument. And Austin played it really nicely.

I would have been startled when Simon pushed the buzzer but Austin kept playing like nothing happened. And it's neat how he has to lift up the saw's handle to change pitches.
