My stock 2003 Lightning would run those numbers and its a 7 year old truck... This is sad for a new Camaro SS. The new 5.0 mustang is beating what the older supercharged 03/04 cobras had in power and track times.

for those of you saying this is a week performance, and stick to a real camaro, ect? back in the late 60s the fastest standard production camaros averaged low 14s, while a few special editions, like the COPO camaros got the big block 427 which still only nicked low 13s and high 12s with a good set of tires. this is an amazing street car, for a different crowd than the average drag racer. As for me, ill get one but just as a daily since my 02 drop top runs 11.7-11-6 and is the track car.

A stock SS will run in the 12s in the 1/4. Refer to motor trend and hot rod magizine as it was these guys so far only able to get in the 12s. This car also weighs at over 3800lbs almost 4g's, so considering it's weight it's a pretty fast car Faster than a stang, Challenger, 370z which is about 7-8k more. @34k for an SS i am gladly buying one

Double Clutching is usually when you are trying to match engine and transmission speed on a non syncro type transmission. You press the clutch when shifting out of one gear, release as you go thru neutral and match engine to trans revs, then repress as you glide the shifter into the next gear. A power shift is when you dont lift the throttle between gear changes, quickly shifting in time with a quick depress of the clutch, Taking to long resulting in over rev.
I don't know if it's the same thing as double cluting in an 18 wheeler but, when I was 21 I wen't to CDL school and got my class a license... They taught us how to double clutch & how we learned was... Start off in 1st gear, before shifting to 2nd, put the clutch in, bring the shifter to nuetral, put the clutch in again, change to 2nd gear and let the clutch out again... It's easier and faster than it sounds.

I'm waiting til next year to make my decision. Mustang weighs about 3200lbs, camaro about 3850. Mustang has 110 less HP than the camaro and the difference in 0-60 time is miliseconds. Camaro 0-60: 4.6 seconds Mustang 0-60: 5 seconds. Next year There's a rumor about the Coyote 5.0 coming out in the 2011 mustang. 400HP 400TQ. If they do that I'm buying a stang for sure cuz you know what'll happen when the power is even bro.
Well the Mustang is 3500, Camaro is around 3800, its not a massive difference but its there, and yeah that Coyote should be pretty amazing, i hope they release a new Boss like they've been hinting towards for a long time...all this comes at a price though, GM recently announced (late Spetember) the Z/28 is back on for a 2011 or 2012 model release

Yeah I've seen some pics of a new charger concept, but to bring it back they'd need a totally new engine, As it is squeezing 21mpg out of a 5.7L Hemi is about as good as it'll get because you can only have 2 valves/ per cylinder you know. now a days people look at fuel economy on top of power, which is why the camaro's doing so well. And Ford's ecoboost is going like crazy too.
I think Dodge could make it work if they put the effort into it, they're just a little ways behind GM and Ford in their development right now, hopefully the new Charger will bring that new 392 Hemi with it, packing around 500+ horsepower, it'll be the first true Mopar brute since 72' ^_^...but hopefully they can get the fuel economy manageable in the 5.7s and 6.1s, actually im hoping the 392 goes in the SRT, the 6.1 drops down to the R/T, and the 5.7 is ended altogether, then economy is boosted

the Challenger has more torque, proven to have twice the handling, beat the Camaro and the GT500 in the slaloms, is pulling better numbers than the Camaro @ the track by my house, *manual, Way better interior, the Challenger stuck true to its roots! the Camaro came out 2 years later and looks like shit with less torque

A stock SS will run in the 12s in the 1/4. Refer to motor trend and hot rod magizine as it was these guys so far only able to get in the 12s. This car also weighs at over 3800lbs almost 4g's, so considering it's weight it's a pretty fast car Faster than a stang, Challenger, 370z which is about 7-8k more. @34k for an SS i am gladly buying one

If you pick up a past issue on MotorTrend or HotRod Magizine or just check the website you will see the posted numbers 12.9 i wouldn't say somethin i wasn't sure about so i wouldn't be wrong like you are now, you can even find on here earlier track times from motortrend they run a 13 flat an in the comparision of the big three the Camaro comes out on top, you don't have to believe me i honestly don't care, i'll be buying this car, an will be puttin the hurt on people at the track an street

At 13.0 seconds at 110.9 mph, the Camaro SS is far and away the fleetest, smacking down the quarter-mile a half-second quicker than the next-quickest Mustang and nearly a full second quicker than the Challenger.

Double Clutching is usually when you are trying to match engine and transmission speed on a non syncro type transmission. You press the clutch when shifting out of one gear, release as you go thru neutral and match engine to trans revs, then repress as you glide the shifter into the next gear. A power shift is when you dont lift the throttle between gear changes, quickly shifting in time with a quick depress of the clutch, Taking to long resulting in over rev.

I don't know if it's the same thing as double cluting in an 18 wheeler but, when I was 21 I wen't to CDL school and got my class a license... They taught us how to double clutch & how we learned was... Start off in 1st gear, before shifting to 2nd, put the clutch in, bring the shifter to nuetral, put the clutch in again, change to 2nd gear and let the clutch out again... It's easier and faster than it sounds.

I'm waiting til next year to make my decision. Mustang weighs about 3200lbs, camaro about 3850. Mustang has 110 less HP than the camaro and the difference in 0-60 time is miliseconds. Camaro 0-60: 4.6 seconds Mustang 0-60: 5 seconds. Next year There's a rumor about the Coyote 5.0 coming out in the 2011 mustang. 400HP 400TQ. If they do that I'm buying a stang for sure cuz you know what'll happen when the power is even bro.

Well the Mustang is 3500, Camaro is around 3800, its not a massive difference but its there, and yeah that Coyote should be pretty amazing, i hope they release a new Boss like they've been hinting towards for a long time...all this comes at a price though, GM recently announced (late Spetember) the Z/28 is back on for a 2011 or 2012 model release

Yeah, personally i dont think we've seen the right comparison yet, i think in 2011 we'll have our best comparison, both sides will have sized up the playing field and brought their best and it'll just be an all out brawl for supremecy...and i say both sides cause i firmly believe that Dodge is going to neglect the Challenger, again, but luckily i think they're putting the whole 2011 year into redesigning the Charger, so maybe we'll get something awsome out of them after all, hopefully the 392 =D

Yeah I've seen some pics of a new charger concept, but to bring it back they'd need a totally new engine, As it is squeezing 21mpg out of a 5.7L Hemi is about as good as it'll get because you can only have 2 valves/ per cylinder you know. now a days people look at fuel economy on top of power, which is why the camaro's doing so well. And Ford's ecoboost is going like crazy too.

I think Dodge could make it work if they put the effort into it, they're just a little ways behind GM and Ford in their development right now, hopefully the new Charger will bring that new 392 Hemi with it, packing around 500+ horsepower, it'll be the first true Mopar brute since 72' ^_^...but hopefully they can get the fuel economy manageable in the 5.7s and 6.1s, actually im hoping the 392 goes in the SRT, the 6.1 drops down to the R/T, and the 5.7 is ended altogether, then economy is boosted
