anyone interested im selling off my cassette tapes and ive got a LIVE yes live its immaterial cassette bought from camden town back in the day guvnor! let me know if interested..
Hab ich zum ersten mal in Amsterdam gehört,später dann im Radio, hab ihn auf kassette aufgenommen, ab ins nächste Musikgeschäft und der Mensch kannte die wirklich.Mann was war ich happy^^
I'm learning to drive and have just been put on insurance to drive my parents Ford Fiesta, been driving with my instructor and neighbour plus my mum, and this song just sums it all up PERFECTLY! I cannot wait to pass, and then drive sensibly on the road! :-D
Two 12in "Driving" versions released where you could hear the Jack Cadalic line I believe without checking. As featured on album - second a fresh 12in single with new bonus song. There is quite an untold history to the recording of this classic song originally, with its Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads) rejected production (blame me) before employing Dave Bascombe who captured it brilliantly. But Jerry's choice use of mouth harp is also elemental to the sound. 2 'Ed's" 12in versions are also great
There is soooo much going on in this song. BRILLIANT. Probably the best song to come out of the '80's. Shame they don't make them like this any more. Like thundernaked below I too listen to it every day. Never get bored with this song.
Couldn't help but think of this song while taking my first drive along the M62 (Englands highest motorway) earlier this week. I remebered the line in the song mentioning the M62, but couldn't for the life of me recall the name of the band. Thanks for uploading this, and thank god for youtube ;)
Its been over 20+years since I've heard this song. Honestly, I thought I never hear it again because I remember the name of the song but not the group. This song really took me back to a great place and time in my life, Thanks for the post.
Truly a gem... I especially love the part where the lines, "For the clean air, healthy you know" are matched up with the image of the guy riding the ostrich.
This song was released when i was young, i barely remembered it. It sounds so original, the eighties is often lambasted, But the current time could never produce classics like this.
Too true! There was a lot of very ordinary music produced in the 'eighties', but as well much that was brilliant like this gem...eight years into the first decade of the new century, popular music is looking sad and very uninspired..it's a shame!
Without sounds a bitter and twisted person who is just started his 30's you're rite. A lot of people ignore the original stuff like this furniture brilliant mind & Adventurers Broken Land and think 80's was all cheese. This period has nothing like that.
OMG.....I havent heard this in donkies years! Dejavu is a fine thing as a trucker. Love it :-D

I think the lyrics lyrics + delivery on the verses is risible - but I think the chorus is great.
