  • Made this for the first time yesterday, and I did some substituting. It turned out great. Best soup I have ever made. First substitution was bud light for the pale ale. I used a extra extra sharp Wisconsin cheddar I got from the deli. I upgraded the bacon to a thicker apple wood smoked, gave it tons of flavor. Only used one quart of chicken broth. Finally I drank 5 beers instead of the one that he drank while waiting for it to simmer.

  • @harmer157

Ha ha! Awesome! Thanks for sharing harmer157.

  • any non alcoholic alternatives?

  • @Skylar6096

You can leave out the beer if you like....

  • @Skylar6096 how about non alcoholic beer?

  • @leviandurai1232

That should work too! I did not think of that. Let us know if it comes out for you.

    Cheers!

  • yup, the sandwich looks more awesome than anything else :D and well, if I could get the beer I'd make the soup...

  • thats the perfect soup on hard winter days ...a hole day out in the cold ..and this soup in front of the fireplace ..must taste like Heaven !...gone try this one to but gone save it for the winter time

  • Don't to call the paramedics before eating, and inform them that you are about to suffer a heart-attack.

  • Chef Jason what a creative recipe

  • that looks great! yummi

  • to find out where im going next week press 6

  • @levikfc

    Ha ha! =]

  • without adding the beer, how would the soup be like?

  • @prettymel66

It would still taste great but it would not have that little bit of "tang" that the beer adds....

  • haha u almost tricked us into thinking you would drink that beer before pooring everything haha :P

  • do its have to be beer on it ? or without beer its taste different?

  • Um, beer AND cheese? Yum.

  • @KitchenDailyVideos That's what I say! :)

  • Would some mushrooms into the soup be good?

  • @dorull83 You can try. I would saute them before adding however.

  • Mmmmmm, that looks devine.

  • is this recipe ok for "minors"? i want to make sure because you use beer....

  • @RosellaRo If you're worried, just leave it out.

  • @RosellaRo

Yeah it really dosent matter since the alcohol is extremly low and it's cooked. So no worries =) beer in soups and sauces is not rare :)

  • @RosellaRo Pretty sure the heat cooks out all the alcohol, no?

  • i love beer cheese soup even though it's like 1000000000000 calories a serving

  • What kind of beer i could use ? i could use corona i live in new york and i dont know if they sale that in here can you please help me ?

  • @Niinidoll

Hello. New Castle or Sam Adams beer would be good with this soup.

  • you must read this. once you have started there is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste

  • roo? Rue...Rew?...Damn u icarly

  • I made this for dinner tonight and followed the directions to a T. The verdict? Absolutely delicious. I loved it and so did my husband (who can be a bit of a fussy eater). Thanks, Chef!

  • @BettinaBalser And I wanted to also say: it's even better the next day! Outstanding.

  • @BettinaBalser Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • i wonder if Four Loko would change up the recipe much...

  • @infectiousmonkey I don't think that would be good.

  • It makes me hungry :P

  • Great tip freezing your bacon. I always hate cutting it when it's room temp. I tried to make cheese beer soup one time, and boy was it icky. I will definitely be trying this with the specialty cheddar.

  • @SpecialGloveSauce

    Thanks for your comment!

  • do i have to add the horseradish and mustard? its not really my favorite.

  • @RosellaRo No, you can feel free to adapt this recipe to your own personal taste.

  • are you supposed to use the entire beer? i did and it tasted pretty bad... got yelled at by dad for making it lol

  • @tupark82 Maby because he wanted it himself, that's why yelling, haha

  • @tupark82 lol

  • @tupark82 hahahahah

  • @tupark82 it's all about the quality of cheese you use. Some cheeses are fatty than others and those fats don't mix well with beer.

  • I made this for dinner tonight and I want to give this detailed breakdown to anyone who might want to try it.

I made this w/o the bacon as I do not like the flavor bacon gives in these types of recipes. If you like bacon in that way, go for it. If your bacon is not partly frozen, another way to cut it is to use kitchen shears.

I know some of you foodies are going to scream, but I used a regular block of cheddar. I did this out of pure curiosity and the soup came out great.

  • @liarsclub75 (cont) I used Sam Adams Winter Lager which was not quite as pale as I thought it would be, but it worked out great. I topped the soup with the chive oil and served it with homemade onion rolls.

Being that this is a very decadent dish, I would definitely splurge for the better cheese, but it can be done with regular supermarket cheddar. I forgot to season with salt and pepper at the end, but it was still very tasty.

  • @liarsclub75 Thanks for your detailed review! Glad to hear that it still tasted good without bacon and the premium cheddar.

  • @ChefTips You're welcome. The leftover soup, mixed with some beef drippings makes a great dipping sauce for prime rib.

  • you should use bamberger beer best in the world

  • @darkmuspell Sounds nice. I love a good German beer!

  • Loving the new kitchen!

  • @collegebrat122088 Thanks! We are too!

  • pesantissima!

  • Cheese "Soup" just sounds wrong but I have always been curious. This looks dang good though........May have to try. Thanks!

  • that sounds so goood... need to try this

  • so yummy looking but i bet its like 900 calories lol

  • @eyesofnova That's exactly what I was thinking :(

  • @eyesofnova You're probably right, haha!

  • POOP!! The ingredients are not sale in indonesia!!!! AAARRRGGHH!!!

  • So glad your back man been looking forward to seeing more videos!

  • @twebbitch Thanks so much!

  • I would sell my soul for good cheese.

  • >.< It looks soooo goood!!

  • I love this!!

  • @wwmtngal

    Thanks mtngal! =]

  • where can I get premium cheddar cheese at?

  • @lukearmy7

We have a specialty cheese shop near by where we get hand crafted cheeses. If you don't have something like that close by, I am sure there are a lot of places on the internet that would ship....

    Cheers!

  • I got to try this gem!

    TY

  • Nice one :) Btw, is there any similar recipes but without beer/wine? Can't drink any alcohol for a while:(

  • @MadeofBlackIce You can make this without the beer. Just leave that step out. Cheers, Jason

  • i want to live in your house so you'd cook for me all day every day ;_; prettyplease!

  • Are you growing some facial hair?

  • @Gindelbi Just for fun, but I shaved it already.

  • This looks delicious thanks Chef!

  • @TokerMate Thanks! Hope you all enjoy it!

  • Gain a super duper recipe.

I would like to know something, are you a chef as you real job or is it just a hobby?

Sr for my bad english, im from germany.

    Greetings : )

  • I didn't notice before but Chef in your new kitchen you seems already mlike a fish in water! You're already have your marks!.

Your soup is terrific: subtil and strong note but so intense in taste!

  • @alundrasrt Well, thank you so much!

    Thanks,

  • damn, i always go hungry after one of Jason's vids.

    D: < NOT FAIR.

  • wooow i love you

  • You lied, that wasn't 2 ingredients.. it was 3!

  • mmmm.... beer! :P

  • I like the video but the editing needs to be cleaned up, you introduced the cheese twice and showed us a grater but never used it.

  • @Coolseek In the video, I said you can either grate or cube the cheese. I chose to cube the cheese.

  • Im from Chico!! There are soo many recipes you can use this in!! It's great!!

  • hey, I know those croutons.

  • HELL YES!!!! That looks BOMB!!!

  • do you by chance know how many calories this has per serving???

  • i dont really drink beer myself neither does my family ,can i subsidize it with somthing else or could just not pour the beer in ? thx !

  • @hellheavenzzz Just don't use the beer if it's an issue. It will still taste very good!

  • Mmmm...looks good!

  • this is an incredible recipe. i'm sitting here drinking a pale ale and imagining the flavors mixing with a great cheddar.... mmmmm

  • The alcohol evaporates in the ale right? I'm not 21 and it's looks delicious.

  • @Sploog321 most of it does. if you want to get down to it, alcohol evaporates at 173°F (very low). if you really want to get down to it, you could take the ABV (alcohol by volume) of the beer and calculate the time a beer would take to evaporate at medium heat. estimate medium heat how you will; it is well over 173°F. then you would have the time needed for all the alcohol to evaporate.

or you could do like my family and figure that the amount of alcohol left in cooked food is negligible.

  • great video, nice recipe and cool pepper grinder for sure!

  • Wow looks good Chef, thanx for sharing.

  • that pepper thing was dirtyyy i want one for christmas i freekin love pepper!!! and im so glad youre back these videos make me so

hungry haha. that looked really good when you put the croutons on i literally said mmm out loud

  • @hinicolex Thanks! I have a recipe for the croutons in a separate video if you feel like making them! :) The electric pepper mill is available online. You can even try Amazon.

  • lol did you just use an automatic pepper grinder? where did you get one those are so cool

  • Amazing video Jason as always, God this looks good. Also like the comedy in your videos adds a little kick to them.

  • @Crazydog500 Thanks so much. :)

  • not exactly super health conscious recipe eh?

  • @dcelliott12 Haha. Not at all. :)

  • wow looks realll gud but they should re-name it cholesterol soup o.0

  • lol squirrel wanted some beer

  • question. wouldnt adding flour straight into grease/hot liquids form chunks? i always though a roux needs to be mixed with room temp stock/water first? maybe i just wasnt listening in class...

  • someone in master chef USA made a beer cheese soup and the judges hated it

  • @THEsqeed

It probably was a bad recipe.

  • Do you use addition umberall sort of lightening in your videos? I really love how bright the room is.

    Take care.

  • @CasualLuxuries

Yes, I have two spot lights that we set up. Thanks for the compliment!

  • @ChefTips Your videos look great. You have highlighted spots on cabinets behind you. Use barndoors or cardbord to eliminate reflection of light source. Polarized filter also helps. Superb sound, narration and colour values. Soup is your star! TY

  • @zasvedogovore Thanks for the tips. The lighting is really tricky for us!

  • bacon + cheese + beer = WIN!

how did I not think of this?

    :D

  • @corderoy17

    You got that right! :D

  • beer, cheese and bacon.

Dont get any better then that :-) hehe

  • "a beer cheese soup"

Hah, just because of those two ingredients, i'm going to have to try this!

  • Can't beat NorCal!

  • I want so much to go nomnomnomnom on a cheese soup! :D

  • Looks yummy.

  • drool :O

  • haha nice soup :) tnks for the upload hope to see more of u soon :p

  • Yes i always wanted to make this :D now to get my parents to buy me some ale XD

  • Great stuff.. i like the way you carry your self infront of the camera! Great!

  • @hannah1990able Thanks!

  • lol could u feel the alcohol when u hate this?

  • @tupark82 No, because you're only drinking small amounts. You can easily cook the ale down some more if you like, or leave it out.

  • This is almost exactly like the cheese soup from Good Eats. There are a few major differences like the type of cheese and stuff, but otherwise it's pretty much the same.

  • @ChipNick87 Yes, this is a very classic soup recipe that's popular in England. There are slight variations, but the basics are usually the same. Enjoy!

  • Make fondue outta it too :D

  • Is this fat free?

  • Wouldn't the ale give it a bitter taste? And is there anything that you can use as a substitute if you don't have ale on hand?

  • @LisaBaby67 You can just leave it out if you like. :)

  • @ChefTips Thanks!

  • Yay you're making good recipes again!!!

  • do i have to use alchohol?

  • @bskulldragon100 Nope, you can leave it out. enjoy!!

  • @bskulldragon100 you could probably sub for non-alcoholic.

  • Dijjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjon mustard hahahah

  • Much like someone else commented before me, we don't drink ANY alcohol, not fond of the taste, can I omit the beer all together?? This look delicious.

  • @lovelylouro Yes, you can easily leave out the beer. Hope you enjoy it!

  • CHEESE & BEER: TOGETHER AT LAST!!! :)

  • This is probably a horribly stupid question, but we don't drink alcohol... so is ginger ale acceptable to add instead, or is it too sweet?

  • @prettyinpunk666

boil the ale and then add it =)

  • @prettyinpunk666 Just leave the ale out. It will still be delicious!

  • @ChefTips is the Alchohol cooked out of the soup

  • Just the cheese with beer is so good that I can see how this would be excellent for the soup.

  • @truvelocity So true!

  • could you serve it with grated cheese on top?

  • @CentaurFour

sure you can but u wont need it

  • looks absolutly delicious!

  • that looks good!

  • Cheese soup...well now ive heard of that aswell! And i have to say it looks mouth watering! :D

  • First!

  • @danslobodin to what? Fail at earning a non tangible reward or something?

  • @Drummingwizkid

    LOL!
