I'll pick you up on one point here -- I failed my driving test first time round because my turn in the road was too slow. Not even hesitant, just slow. So, it's as if there is a time limit on the manoever in some cases, contrary to what you said here.

Hesitation? Why is that a fail? It is not dangerous whatsoever! I go from good to bad, to good to bad constantly with my approach to roundabout simply because my parents and instructor keep contradicting themselves. I start off too keen/cocky BUT I always take the roundabouts properly. I then get told off for not slowing down enough, so I slow down...guess what? I'm told off for hesitation! This is just one vicious circle.

i dunno how it is in England but I passed my driving test with ease here in California. Most of my friends passed the driving test and I think it has to due with the size of the road. I prefer big roads because there are more spaces between u and other drivers. I guess its much harder in England since most roads are not highway-sized.

I think the standard in the UK is much higher than the US too. I'm from the UK but I live in Malaysia and the standard is so low here, you could b blind and pass. Instrctors actually ASK for a bribe. I'm going to take my test when I go to the UK for uni. Couple more years ;-(

i had my driving test today and passed!! :D after atempting 4 times.... before i failed mainly for poor observations,, but today it was nearly perfect in all areas of my driving, words of advice is look around u, check ur blind spots and be ready at all times and dont be nervous!!
