  • cme on !!!!!!!!!!! haifa is singing FAIRUZ ! and how cld u put such pics 2 such song ! wuts the link between these pics and this song ! cme on just a lil bit of respect 2 FAIRUZ , EL RAHBANIS AND BEIRUT !

  • Fairuz's voice is so much more poignant. This is void of emotion and not authentic, but she looks beautiful at doing it. Maybe fairuz's voice and her face would be perfect.

  • @MrEuropa2010

    OMG. WTF?

  • فديتك ياهيفاء اغانيك وصوتك وكلك تجننين

  • I'm from the US and I've never been to Beirut, but this is one of my favorite songs. This song made me want to learn more about Lebanon. Thanks for posting it :)

  • @hipgrinder

You're welcome. I feel the same way. That's why I made this video.

  • As much as I like the Fairouz version of Ya Hawa Beirut, I prefer Haifa. It has nothing to do with whom is better or whom has more credibility... I feel that the Fairouz song is too slow and not melodic. It's actually very long, drawn out and depressing. Haifa loves her country and sings this song with great emphasis and zeal. If one watches her interviews she never shies away from the fact that she's Lebanese, in fact she's proud of being Lebanese. Goo Haifa!

  • @EuroMix77

Thanks for your comment. Yes, Haifa loves her country. That's why she sang this song. She didn't make any money on this performance in 2008. She sang the song for free.

Some people get upset with her version of "Hawa Beirut" just because they think she is unworthy to sing one of Fairouz's songs. Haifa isn't as good a singer as Fairouz, but Haifa is good in her own right. Sometimes, she sings very well -- and sometimes not so well. She was good with this song.

  • loveeeeeee it

  • alla w lebnen w haifa w basssssss

  • @Musicxxlebanon

haha ur funny dude!! i dont give a shit if anyone does or doesnt give a shit abt my opinion...this is Fairuz's song not haifa's supposedly! if she's trying to be as amazing as fairuz's voice, i doubt that it will EVER happen! ;)

    and no problem! ;)

  • @jojolecloune

um hello? did i even compare her to fairouz?

  • @Musicxxlebanon

u cant even Compare her to fairouz! :)

  • @jojolecloune I know :)

  • @darkoelaswad

What's wrong with you? Are you a PSYCHO? It's just a VIDEO -- no big deal -- so why are you going crazy with crude insults? Why did you come here using vulgar hateful language? No one asked you to watch this video, so why are you here? You don't know me, so why you insulting me? You have no manners, no class and no respect for other people. You sound like a crude idiot who spews nasty language like a moron. Look at yourself. Look at what you wrote. You sound INSANE.

  • girls of libano i like them

  • @MrEuropa2010: Hitler was partly Jewish, don`t you know that?

    hahaha.Ignorant guy.

Anyway, it doesn`t help the LEBANESE and PALESTINIANS and ANYONE to give racist and ignorant comments.

  • كريه - too bad singing, NO ONE can sing like fairuz

  • Haifa ? what were you thinking ?

  • Amazing by Haifa, MashAllah

  • BRAVOOOOOOOOOO HAIFA!!!

  • @FrankCoffman

1:52 - 2:02 what is the video that is from?

  • @Dowsiewuwu

That clip (1:52 - 2:02) is from Haifa's video of her song "Ma Sar." I have the full video of "Ma Sar" on my channel.

  • @Dowsiewuwu lebanon

  • niiiiice :D

  • very nice..haifa the most beautiful girl in lebanon

  • I like her singing in it, actually.. also i am sure she sang it with love for her country, so what is wrong with it??

  • @dinavienna

Yeah, I know what you mean. Some people get uptight that Haifa sang this song because it's Fairouz's song. They consider Fairouz a great artist, but they think that Haifa is just a show girl who shouldn't touch anything that belongs to Fairouz.

  • @FrankCoffman .. there you said it,she shouldnt! :P

  • very nice

  • @bhdrcool

اهيا غنت الأغنية بطريقة حلوة وعدل , شنو مشكلتك ؟ انبسط بالعرض وريلاكس

  • @FrankCoffman

مشكلتي ياريس النشاز و بشاعة الصوت ... بس

  • @bhdrcool

I don't understand your problem. There's nothing with Haifa singing this song, even though it's Fairouz's song. Haifa performed it only once for free at a concert in Beirut in May 2008 to celebrate a peace settlement between different Lebanese political factions. I think she was trying to honor the spirit of the moment. She has never profited from this song.

  • honestly...she made me hate the song.

    ugggggly voice!!

  • @FrankCoffman she made me hate the song...

  • @bhdrcool نت واحد سوري اخرس وما تدخل بلبنان فهمت ..بعد ناقص انتو والخليجين القرف ينتقدوا شو منغني

  • How about a transliteration of this beautiful song Frank?

  • i love dis song i want 2 visit lebenon no joke its a beautiful country

I agree. I love this song, too.

  • i think thousands of haifa make not one FAIROUZ

  • Beautiful song from a great singer.I understand the backgroud and hope that peace will prevail in your country.

  • frank thank you for uploading the song :)

  • i love this version... i love this song... i love fayrouz... i love haifa... l love LEBANON <3<3<3<3

  • theLoralei.

You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoy the song. I like it, too. As I'm sure you know, it was written during the Lebanese civil war. It reminds us of the sad situation during those years.

As far as I know, Haifa has performed this song only once -- for free at a huge concert outdoors in Beirut in May 2008 to celebrate a settlement that resolved political turmoil in the country. The song was appropriate to that moment, too.

  • Noway ! how dare she !! she shouldn't be allowed to sing this song !! she's a show girl and her voice sucks !! allah yer7am ayyamek ya Fairouz

  • Serahsouz

Calm down. You sound hysterical. RELAX. Take a deep breath. It's just a song. Geeez,

Did you actually watch the video and listen to it? It doesn't "suck." You talk like an atrocity against the Sacred has been committed. Nothing has been taken away from Fairouz. Get a grip.

  • @Serahsouz

STOP dissing this song where do u come frm lebenon i guess, so appracite that haifa is singgin 4 the country nd plus we no that fayroz was a legend but that still duzn't make haifa a show off girl or anythin lk dat her voice iss so peaceful nd sweet

if it anoyz u so much then dnt listen 2 it or else appracite....... BTW HAIFA SANG THIS SONG 4 FREE!!!!!!!!

  • she got a not-bad voice ... but really never never never could compare her to the legend Fairouz...

  • she's so cute. of course her voice doesn't compare to the legendary Fairuz but she knows that. she's just paying tribute to her country.

  • magginine,

Yes, you're right. She sang this song only at a free concert in May 2008 to celebrate a political settlement that resolved conflict and brought normalcy back to Beirut. She never sang it again, and she has never profited from the song. Thanks for your comment.

  • ao sexy!

  • Najbolja arapska pevacica!!!! Obozavam Haifu!!!

  • треба рећи да је канон

  • Which language is this? Polish maybe I just wonder :)

  • perfect haifa go go go

  • i think it is not intelligent 4 someone like haifaa 2 sing asong which fairoz sing

  • 38117446

Why? Did you listen to Haifa singing this song -- or did you prejudge her without listening?

  • frank i ve listened 2 her but i c that every singer should choose asong which is appropriate 2 him and this song is 4 fairooz which haifaa can do nothin in it haifaa can only dance and play :d :d :d

  • @38117446

therez 1 thing i now 4 sure nd that is haifa is far more intelligent/ enteligent than u r

yh u ave no right 2 prejudge her UR NO1 comments lk this r hurtful nd plus haifa sang this song once...... so give it a rest and leave hurtful/ anoying comments 2urself

  • Haifa she is good but not Fairuz! There is the differnce!

  • who said she's fairuz ? lol

    ya haramishoum.

  • FRANKCOFFMAN:

    Bonjour :)

Keep up the great work! :)

  • i have nothing against haifa,

but if i was there when she sang this specific song , i would take off my belt and spanked her :@

i doubt fairuz allowed her to sing it

  • DaCh0sen,

Why? Do you think Haifa sang it badly? Or, do you think the song should be sung only by Fairouz?

Fairouz has rights to the song, but Haifa didn't make money from singing it. Haifa sang it only once at a free concert in Beirut in May 2008 when Lebanon was celebrating a political accord. The song fit that occasion. Haifa hasn't profited from this song.

I don't understand why you're so upset. Singers sing other people's songs all the time. Is this one too sacred for Haifa?

  • it's not about sacred or not.

it's that i had an image of the song, and i had my own video in my mind for every sentence of the song.

and then i saw this video instead of a pure calm lady with a sweet voice in that video holding a flower and looking for her love.

i saw a hot, sexy , corny girl trying to seduce me and her voice is uncompilable to fairuz

this song is sooo not haifa.

  • DaCh0sen,

Thanks for your explanation. I understand your viewpoint. You are certainly entitled to it.

But to be fair, I don't think Haifa is seductive or "corny" in this video.

When I made this video, I chose serious, solemn images of Haifa. There's nothing "corny" about Haifa or about this video. I tried to make a respectful video of this song.

I think Haifa did justice to the song. I think you may be so attached to Fairouz's version that nothing else looks or sounds right to you.

  • DaCh0sen,

Why would you be mad at Haifa for a video that I made? That doesn't make sense. Yes, she sang the song, but I put together this video. So, why are you blaming her?

Plus, I don't see anything wrong with how she looks here. Sorry, I don't get you, especially that you want to whip her. How strange.

  • Isssaaa ma3leshiiiiiiiiiiiiiii marre2la yehaaaaaaaa la Haifaaaaaaa.. ma beha shi l ghaniyehh helweehhhh .. ou3aaa ehhhhhh

  • FRANKCOFFMAN:

This is such a "BEAUTIFUL SONG" and thank you for the translation because a lot of non-Arabic speaking folks are watching your video from all over the world :)

    GREAT VIDEO!

  • PhoenicianG,

Thanks. Yes, it's a beautiful song which calls up memories of the tragic Lebanese civil war. As you say, I add subtitles to many songs so non-Arabs can have a better appreciation of Arabic music.

  • love this song-god blesslebanon

  • majnunetwaelkfoury,

    I love this song, too.

    Bahibak ya Lebnan.

  • FRANK COFFMAN:

Thank you so much for sharing this video with the world :)

This song is one of the most beautiful composed songs from Lebanon, and "HAIFA WEHBE'S" version is just as beautiful as "FAIROUZ'S" version :)

  • PhoenicianG,

Great, I'm glad you like this special song.

  • FRANKCOFFMAN:

Indeed, "I LOVE THIS SONG." :)

  • Hi, PhoenicianG,

In case you're interested, I've added a free mp3 download of this song in the "more info" section (upper right).

  • she has eyes like a serious killer hahaha

  • This is a great video. Very nicely done! Many thanks.

  • Thanks, Annie. It's a great song. It really gets to me. But for some reason, this isn't one of my most popular videos.

I guess I should splash the word "SEX" in the title so the video will get more attention, the way some other people do! Nah, that's not my style.

  • It's very beautiful frank

  • good song but why didnt u translate fully? u stopped when said "my house" etc

  • ok this is probably the best song shes sang its a different style than fairoz but still good

  • superr

  • very nice song and gooood job from haifa

  • perfect! I LOVE THIS SONG THANK YOU SO MUCH. Great video AND SONG. I loved Haifa singing this, but it would have been a cute mix if you put fairouz in the end or something singing this also :)
