I'm from the US and I've never been to Beirut, but this is one of my favorite songs. This song made me want to learn more about Lebanon. Thanks for posting it :)
As much as I like the Fairouz version of Ya Hawa Beirut, I prefer Haifa. It has nothing to do with whom is better or whom has more credibility... I feel that the Fairouz song is too slow and not melodic. It's actually very long, drawn out and depressing. Haifa loves her country and sings this song with great emphasis and zeal. If one watches her interviews she never shies away from the fact that she's Lebanese, in fact she's proud of being Lebanese. Goo Haifa!
Thanks for your comment. Yes, Haifa loves her country. That's why she sang this song. She didn't make any money on this performance in 2008. She sang the song for free.
Some people get upset with her version of "Hawa Beirut" just because they think she is unworthy to sing one of Fairouz's songs. Haifa isn't as good a singer as Fairouz, but Haifa is good in her own right. Sometimes, she sings very well -- and sometimes not so well. She was good with this song.
amazing !!!! finally i heard a song for lebanon from haifa..usually she sang for Egypt more..but any way ktir 7abbeit menna hal ghenniyye :))) go LEBANON :)))
dude, yet she is on of the most popular loved woman in lebanon and other arab countries? ;) no one gives a fucking shit abt ur opinion,if u dont lik eher dont watch her videos
haha ur funny dude!! i dont give a shit if anyone does or doesnt give a shit abt my opinion...this is Fairuz's song not haifa's supposedly! if she's trying to be as amazing as fairuz's voice, i doubt that it will EVER happen! ;)
What's wrong with you? Are you a PSYCHO? It's just a VIDEO -- no big deal -- so why are you going crazy with crude insults? Why did you come here using vulgar hateful language? No one asked you to watch this video, so why are you here? You don't know me, so why you insulting me? You have no manners, no class and no respect for other people. You sound like a crude idiot who spews nasty language like a moron. Look at yourself. Look at what you wrote. You sound INSANE.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Some people get uptight that Haifa sang this song because it's Fairouz's song. They consider Fairouz a great artist, but they think that Haifa is just a show girl who shouldn't touch anything that belongs to Fairouz.
I don't understand your problem. There's nothing with Haifa singing this song, even though it's Fairouz's song. Haifa performed it only once for free at a concert in Beirut in May 2008 to celebrate a peace settlement between different Lebanese political factions. I think she was trying to honor the spirit of the moment. She has never profited from this song.
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoy the song. I like it, too. As I'm sure you know, it was written during the Lebanese civil war. It reminds us of the sad situation during those years.
As far as I know, Haifa has performed this song only once -- for free at a huge concert outdoors in Beirut in May 2008 to celebrate a settlement that resolved political turmoil in the country. The song was appropriate to that moment, too.
Calm down. You sound hysterical. RELAX. Take a deep breath. It's just a song. Geeez,
Did you actually watch the video and listen to it? It doesn't "suck." You talk like an atrocity against the Sacred has been committed. Nothing has been taken away from Fairouz. Get a grip.
STOP dissing this song where do u come frm lebenon i guess, so appracite that haifa is singgin 4 the country nd plus we no that fayroz was a legend but that still duzn't make haifa a show off girl or anythin lk dat her voice iss so peaceful nd sweet

Why? Do you think Haifa sang it badly? Or, do you think the song should be sung only by Fairouz?
Fairouz has rights to the song, but Haifa didn't make money from singing it. Haifa sang it only once at a free concert in Beirut in May 2008 when Lebanon was celebrating a political accord. The song fit that occasion. Haifa hasn't profited from this song.
I don't understand why you're so upset. Singers sing other people's songs all the time. Is this one too sacred for Haifa?
FrankCoffman 3 years ago
it's not about sacred or not.
it's that i had an image of the song, and i had my own video in my mind for every sentence of the song.
and then i saw this video instead of a pure calm lady with a sweet voice in that video holding a flower and looking for her love.
i saw a hot, sexy , corny girl trying to seduce me and her voice is uncompilable to fairuz
this song is sooo not haifa.
