@LordMoku its primarily because unlike today where its acceptable for college kids and older to watch cartoons, in the early sixties children were the only audience for shows like this. As long as the finished product put across a halfway coherent plot for younger viewers, animators in those days didn't give a fuck.

All the references, personalities, parodies to old episodes, Falcon 7, Avenger, Birdgirl, villains, X The Eliminator, Mentok, Vulturo, Reducto, Deadly Duplicator, Freezoig... ALL COMES FROM THIS SERIES! I think noone can understand Harvey Birdman without having seen at least an episode of the original superhero.

My kids loved all these retro cartoons when they started re-broadcasting them some years ago. One time they were helping me in the backyard and we passed by the bbq pit, which had a HUGE splat of bird doo on it. I pointed to it and said "BIIIIIIIIIIRD-shit" They laughed and laughed. Bad part of the story? They started repeating it in front of my wife who never quite forgave me, lol
